Mini Doll Fever

Today I went to Target to buy some shelves.  I walked down the doll aisle.  I was so proud of myself.  They had all the new Barbie Style dolls with the flat/high heel feet.  I picked them up, admired them, then placed them neatly back on the shelf.  A went to the next aisle with the 18 inch Our Generation Girls.  Again I admired, and kept walking.  Then I saw the new mini Our Generation Girls.  Dang it!  I was so close to not adding dolls, but at $9.99 each, I just couldn't help myself.  They had about 6 different ones.  Most of them look alike except for the eye color.  They didn't have the African American one

Here are the four I bought.  I was only going to buy two, but I couldn't pass up those cute outfits.  My mini-AG girls can use some of those cute outfits.  Each outfit seems to be very well made and all separate.  The shoes also fit the AG girls.

So Cecile, my mini AG doll, is wearing the shirt and jeans that are under the pink trench coat.  I think they fit her better than the Our Generation Girls.

This pink trench coat is the cutest.

The boots fit, but they don't really match the outfit.  I will probably paint away the pink.  I think the other shoes are cuter.

I finished the custom mini AG order.  Along with the apron, I made a couple of berets....

and a La Patisserrie sign.

So I've made an executive decision.  Mini dolls will only count for 1/2 doll, and if I sell or give dolls away throughout the year, I can deduct these from my count of 10.  I sold one doll in January and I gave one away last week.  Adding the 4 mini dolls puts me at 5 dolls, minus the two I got rid of and my total for the year so far is three.

  1. Vanessa, there you go again, I am a sucker for the kids and those outfits are soooo cute! Now I am going to HAVE to go pick up a few myself.

By the way I love the "New math" you did for calculating your doll purchases.

  4. Haha! I like it. The thing about making up the rules is that you can change them if you like! Keep this up and by the time you finish recalculating, you may end up not adding any dolls! You go girl!

    1. Phyllis - Actually, I haven't really changed the rules. When I said I wasn't going to buy more than 10 dolls, it only applied to Barbie sized female dolls. I wasn't applying it to kid dolls or action figures. But since I didn't clarify that in the beginning and my blogging family started keeping count, I knew trying to clarify it at that point would be difficult. My goal is not to add more than 10 female regular sized dolls. Even without the subtracting and new math I am still on track to reach this goal. I have only bought one of those so far.

  5. I think i might get me one, Ryla almost looks like me except i have curly hair. Is her skin color ivory?

Also great job on the apron! The little beret is such a cute bonus too.

    1. Leandra - Thanks. Awww, Ryla looks like you? That's so cute. Most of the skin colors are the same. I think it's more rosey and ivory. I may change the hair on a couple of them since they are so much alike.

    2. It's kinda weird. When i first started getting interested in dolls again i never found any that look like me. Now i'm finding a bunch of kid dolls that look almost or completely like me. xD

  6. We are going to have to have an intervention! But those are some cute clothes, lol.

    1. Muff - No intervention needed when it comes to the little ones. You know I live for the little ones. They are not the ones that are overwhelming me every time I go in the basement. Now those other hundreds of 12 inchers are causing me much stress.

    1. Male Doll World - I had to get creative with the counting, because I never meant for kid dolls or action figures to be part of the count. Since the kids are caught up in the mix, I had to do something.

  10. Heh, I like your "mini dolls count for half" math! I think I'm going to use that. ;)

    1. jSarie - Hey they are only half of the doll size I was trying to limit. It seems only fair to me.

  11. Your counting is pretty interesting. So you have found a way to subtract dolls you get rid of in order to lower your count toward 10? I think they call that creative accounting. LOL!

Whatever works. The dolls are nice. They do have some nice outfits.

    1. Janainah - If I go back to my original plan and only count 12" female dolls in the 10, I will probably be better off. Then I won't have to do this creative counting. I really think I can keep to 10 or less 12 in dolls for the year. So far I think I've only bought one, possibly two.

  12. I think that dolls you buy for the clothes also don't count. :-)

    1. limbe dolls - I like the way you think. It's not our fault the manufacturers don't just produce separate clothes packs. I would only have one of these dolls if they had just done that.

  13. Congratulations on your minis and your creative way of counting doll purchases. :-)

Each time I visit Target (and the visits are few), I've checked for the AA mini OGG. I am beginning to think the doll is nonexistent. I wonder if anyone has ever seen her.

    1. DBG - I looked for the AA mini OGG on line. I'm not sure she exists either. I am going to change one of these ladies into a doll of color. Three of them are the exact same doll with different eye color. I don't need that.

  14. I have seen these dolls and have resisted them every time. The one with the pink vest is my favorite. Your calculation cracked me up!! Lol! These are your rules and they may go any way that you choose. Lol!

    1. Georgia Girl - I hadn't been to a Target in probably a year or more. Can you believe that?! So they were new to me. I could probably get a job on Wall Street with my creative accounting. One can always make the numbers work out. Lol.

  16. I, too, like your new maths. As others have said, these are your rules and you can count or discount whatever dolls you please. We are just doing what family does and teasing. These are very cute dolls and outfits by the way.

    1. Carrickters - The good thing about my 10 doll goal, is it does make me pause and think whenever I walk down the doll aisle. And it kept me from another year of making sure I used that $20 BC.com coupon every quarter. With the price of shipping, you couldn't justify just ordering one doll. That would have been minimum 8 dolls right there. I am counting on my blogging family to help me stay on track. (Just not with the minis). LOL!

  17. Ok, she looks really cute. How ever you work out your dolls is alright with me. I haven't purchased anything this year and will only allow five. You did real good too. Especially picking them up and admiring them. I try to avoid it, lol.

    1. Brini - I probably would have been in trouble if they were having one of those epic Target sales. Thank goodness, nothing was on sale. So much easier not to buy.
