Cousin Sharmaine Settles In (Photostory)

Danielle's cousin, Sharmaine, arrived in town a couple of days ago.  She's staying in Danielle and Rod's guest room, at the moment.  The ladies are taking advantage of a beautiful day, as they relax in the front yard.  A little background on Sharmaine.  She is Danielle's first cousin.  She graduated from Penn State University with a degree in International Studies.  Right after graduation she spent a year in Europe on a paid internship.

"Thanks again for letting me crash at your place."  (Sharmaine)
"Have you decided how long you are going to be in town?"  (Danielle)
"I may hang out here a couple of months, then I'll probably head South for a bit.  My roommate from college went to grad school there, and I told her I would come see her."  (Sharmaine)

"South as in Florida?  If so, Make sure you stop in and see my mom.  She would love to see her favorite niece."  (Danielle)
"Oh Auntie Roberta.  I haven't seen her since my college graduation.  How is she?"  (Sharmaine)
Danielle fills Sharmaine in on Roberta.

"Soooo, how's married life?"  (Sharmaine)
"It's great, most of the time.  It really helps that I have such a wonderful husband."  (Danielle)

"Maybe I will take notes while I'm here.  Not that I'm ready to get married or anything.  Heck, I don't even have any prospects for a boyfriend.  Are you sure Rod's not going to mind if I stay?  I don't want to impede on any newlywed activity."  (Sharmaine)
Danielle laughs out loud.
"Are you guys planning to have any more kids?"  (Sharmaine)
"Julian, can you go inside and check to see if Joseph is still sleep?"  (Danielle)
"Why can't Daddy check?  He's already inside?"  (Julian)
"Because I asked you.  Now go check then you can come back outside." (Danielle)

Julian stomps off.  He's clearly not happy.
"Oh my goodness.  He's just so adorable."  (Sharmaine)

"I had to get him out of here since you are talking about having babies.  The last thing I need is for him to run around telling people that I'm having a baby."  (Danielle)

"So are you saying you're pregnant?"  (Sharmaine)
"NO, silly, but it's easy for a 5 year old to get the wrong idea.  I will say I had a scare about a month ago, but it was a false alarm.  Rod and I are still discussing it.  He's all for it.  I'm the one who is still thinking about it."  (Danielle)
"I think you should.  You guys need a child that is from both of you." (Sharmaine)

"Mommy, Jacob's still sleeping."  (Julian)
"Okay, thanks for checking."  (Danielle)
"Come here cutie."  (Sharmaine)

"Will you help me eat my watermelon?  Then, if it's okay with your mom, you can go to the store with me."  (Sharmaine)
"Oooh.  Mommy can I go to the store?"  (Julian)

"Yes, you can go."  (Danielle to Julian)
"He is going to be spoiled rotten by the time you leave."  (Danielle)

"Just wait until the next one comes."  (Sharmaine)
"You are too much.  Please don't start spreading rumors.  I know how you operate."  (Danielle)

FYI - This Barbie Look doll has the best hair.  It is ultra soft and easy to manage.

  2. That doll is one of my favorites from the Barbie Look collection. Julian's stomping off scene is too cute. He looks like his shoulders are hunched and he's pouting. I hope Rod can convince Danielle to have a baby. With Jacob's age they wouldn't be too close or too far apart. I vote for a baby girl- her siblings will spoil her rotten.

    1. Jewell - I loved this doll the moment they announced her. She does not disappoint. I think Danielle is trying to enjoy her husband a little longer without a newborn in the picture.

  6. She has such slamming hair! I'm getting a bit worried for Dani though. She's still relatively a newlywed. While it is reasonable and would be nice for both of them to have a child together, I don't think there should be any pressure or expectations put on her. Love the photos!

    1. Verona - That's the best Barbie hair I've ever experienced. I don't think you have to worry about Daniellle. She's not going to do anything she doesn't want to do. She is feeling a little pressure though. You can't imagine how many times she gets that question.

  7. LOL at Julian's little huff. Everything that doll does is adorable.

I saw this Look doll on clearance at Walmart for $13. I turned her down for an older City Shopper because she seemed kinda standoffish. But now seeing her in casual clothes she looks more approachable.

    1. Muff - I think that's the first time we've experienced Julian have attitude. Chances are you will find that doll even cheaper than $13. She looks a lot better out of the box and with some articulation.

  10. Love Julian's stomp scene. Not that I would tell him that, lol. But as Muff writes, everything he does looks cute. I love how you pose him so expressively.

And I LOVE how Danielle never loses her cool, but keeps to what she told him. She keeps him in check in the most loving and easygoing way.

I agree with Danielle that she could use more her and hubby time. Not against her having more kids, but maybe not just so soon. Holding up hands, not that I am going to get in their way ;-)

That Barbie Look doll is so gorgeous.

Thanks for this new story. Photos look new, too. Hope you are not exerting yourself - wagging finger. But I enjoyed EVERY shot. You are too good to us ;-)

    1. D7ana - You would be just like Sharmaine. You would spoil Julian rotten. lol. Danielle enjoys cuddling with her husband at night time. Throw a newborn in the mix, and her nights are less cuddly. It's not like they don't each already have kids, so waiting a little longer shouldn't be a problem.

Yes these are new pictures, and yes I was exhausted after taking them. It's strange. When I am in the basement with the dolls, I almost forget that I'm on crutches. I almost got up and walked sans crutches, a couple of times. Kind of scary. I could see me splayed out on the floor, waiting for help. So I will be careful the next time I'm down there.

    2. LOL, yep, I would be like Sharmaine. Good thing Julian has Danielle as a mother though. I love how she nips those spoiling sessions, ha ha.

You know I am grateful for the new photos along with the new story. And I can imagine how creating would have taken you past the crutches - almost. I'm glad to hear that you will be careful. I and many others want many more YEARS of Van's Doll Treasures stories.

      Knuckle bump and cyber hug.

    1. Kenya - Nope these are new pictures. The only problem with my arm is using the crutches all the time. Leg is getting better. Arm is getting worse. So I decided I better start taking pictures while I have both arms. I'm back to doing my hair, too. THANK GOODNESS. It was more than a hot mess.

  14. This is a cute story - with new photo, which obviously means you are feeling better seeing you are down in the basement. (But I agree with the others, don't over do it too much.) However, it is good to see Danielle and Julian again. And her cousin is very beautiful.

    1. limbe dolls - Thanks. The basement is in a bit of disarray, and I can't move things around like I need to, so I will still limit my time down there until I am off these crutches.
