The Bike That Started It

Yesterday, I posted some of the Gloria playsets I purchased.  I had considered purchasing the Gloria bike. Why?  Because of the cute baby seat on the back.  But they wanted $14.99 for the bike and $10 for shipping.  Oh heck no!  That baby seat isn't that cute.  So I searched for other bikes that could be used in it's place.

Here is the Gloria bike set.  The one I didn't buy.

I found this one and figured I could remove the picnic basket and stick a baby seat on the back.

I found this one, too, and figured we would have two moms biking together.

Then I saw this one.  LOL!  So I figured I would do a family biking story.

Remember this bike?  I bought it over a year ago at one of the doll shows.  I still haven't figured out which couple would be cute riding this.  I have about four more bikes that may be part of the story as well.  I then remembered Marta,  telling me about a little doll named Evi who had a little bike.  I looked her up in Amazon and found what I was looking for.

And here she is!  This doll and bike was a little over $8 with free shipping.  Unfortunately, you don't get to pick the one you want.  It is randomly selected for you.  The one I received is very similar to the one shown in the box.  CAUTION:  That cute little water bottle does not come with the set anymore.  It's still worth the $8, because the bike is well made, and it comes with the cutest little training wheels.  Another good thing is the doll has articulated legs.  So she would be a great body donor.  Sorry for over using the word, 'cute', but what else can I say about this set.

So now I am ready to do a couple bike stories.  Sometimes I feel I go a little overboard once I get an idea in my head.  Did I really need more bikes?  Do you have any suggestions for who you would like to see in my bike stories?

  1. Since you have so many bikes, why not do a charity bike event story? I knwo he doesn't have jointed legs, (yet?) but I want to see Julian on a bike!

    1. Tam - The charity event sounds interesting. How would that work, exactly?

  2. I am the same way Vanessa once a idea takes hold I run with it. I ignor the idea to check and see what I already have and immediately start shopping.

    1. Mustiwait - lol. In my defense, I did check the bikes I have to see if I could put a baby seat on the back. But none of them had space for the seat. The worst thing is buying stuff and never getting around to using it. Now I'm on the hook to do the story, since I'm sharing it with you guys.

  3. That's quite the collection of bicycles! There must be some secret triathletes in the group! ;)

And I have to confess, this post is tempting me to start researching doll bikes as well!

  4. Nice collection of bikes! This double one is so cute!
Simba Toys often have pretty nice sets, just their dolls are so impossibly ugly, haha. Evi isn't so bad, but Steffi.. @.@
I don't know if you're familar with Simba's Super Model line, articulated doll with teen bodies, 4 skin shades. They are very nice choice for body swapping for Skipper or even Stacy size dolls.

    1. jewel snake - Thanks. I can't wait to get a couple on the double bike. I did see some of the other Simba sets. I will probably add some more sets in the future. I will check out that super model line. I can use some smaller articulated bodies.

    2. Vanessa, we talked about super model bodies about a year ago, here: http://vansdolltreasures.blogspot.ru/2013/06/chynas-day-at-work-photostory.html
      Do you remember? :)
Now we have one of the dolls (Juls) in Moscow stores, and people in Ukraine have Sarah and Miri also, but not Bel (the dark-skinned doll). I have friends in Ukraine and they sent me all the three dolls. Juls and Sarah can be good body "donors" for some HSM-type girls (good color and size match), but their neck is much thicker, so you need to do something with the neck, or neck hole, or both to make the hybrid look good. Skipper dolls on those bodies don't look so good, the color of their heads is different. Though I didn't see AA Skipper on a Bel's body yet.

    3. Dukasha - Yes I remember now. At the time I couldn't find them on the internet. I was able to find them today, adding Simba to the Superdoll search. I like them a lot. I've only seen pictures. I haven't found a source to buy them yet. Congrats on getting them.

    4. Vanessa, they are available on ebay.de.

  5. Congrats on the bike collection! Pity about the Gloria one, but I understand how that is too high a price for the set. Unless you were able to sell the Ellie Mae lookalike riding it for $8-10? Not likely though ....

Bike story ... a neighborhood race. Impromptu. Someone gets a new bike, challenges someone else and before you know it, others have joined in.

Or Rod could teach Julian how to ride - and have Danielle along to learn, too. Or maybe Danielle can teach Julian, Rod, and Rod's daughter (fudge, I'm blanking on her name - her momma is Melanie - Nicole) how to ride.

I took a few bad photos over the weekend that I felt ashamed to post. I thought I had the area to myself, but this guy kept peering down at me as if he suspected me of evildoing. Heck, that's a post to share.

I'll look forward to whatever biking story or stories you share. With your crew of characters, I am sure I'll enjoy their antics ;-D

    1. D7ana - Thanks for all the story ideas. The charity event suggestion from Tam is something that would be right up Danielle's alley. We'll see how it all pans out. It's always interesting taking outside pics with the dolls. Lots of strange looks. We would love to see your photo.

    2. Danielle story on the way? You know I'll be back for that. Love reading about Danielle, Rod, and Julian - fan squeals for Julian who's quite the charmer.

  6. there are some other cute bikes made by the same people as evi love. There is one that comes with a baby seat on the bike too! I did have a quick look for you but i could find anything for america. And a charity bike ride is a cool idea.

  8. That tiny little doll has articulated legs? That's pretty cool.

I wonder why they removed the bottles? It looks like they were attached to the back of the box.

    1. Muff - I was surprised to see the articulated legs. They didn't remove the bottles. According to the seller, the newer versions never had the water bottle. She was going to send me a bottle, then realized none of them had them.

  9. Love all the bikes! Perhaps a bike race for charity would be a nice story, although keeping everything propped up to take the pictures would be a challenge. I look forward to whatever story you come up with. :-)

    1. Cindi - "Ride for the Cure". I'm liking the charity idea more and more. I should be able to figure out some way to prop them up.

  10. I have a few bikes over here too. I plan on doing a story soon, just don't know who will get to ride them, lol. I have the little blue and yellow on and it belongs to HF Tommy, need to get on for Dante! Thanks for the head up on the Evi doll. I need to order them like yesterday, Kelly, Emi and Chelsea need bikes.

  11. Oh, doll bikes are something I can talk about endlessly. lol. Having a bike for my dolls was one of the greatest dreams of my childhood. We even tried to make them ourselves of plasticine and later of wire, buttons and other small things. Now I have several Stacie bikes and teen-sized bikes, two Barbie bikes (they really belong to my friend, who doesn't play dolls anymore) and many, really many bikes and tricycles for small kids. I have many Evi bikes (Evi is a well-known doll here, we have many of them in every big toy store), several Paula bikes (blue and yellow bike in your post), also several finger bikes and several tricycles. And I always want more. lol. Btw Evi usually doesn't have articulated legs, the bike set is the most known version of articulated Evi, but there are also other Evi dolls, who have articulated knees. For example the skiing Evi doll. And there is another doll of her size, Cici, who now always has articulated knees. But she doesn't have bikes, though I like some of her other accessories. Well, she really has some kind of a tricycle, but, as far as I remember, without pedals.

    1. Dukasha - Thanks for sharing your obsession with doll bikes. lol. I figured the Evi was only articulated because of the bike. It's the same with some of the Kelly dolls. Some of them have articulated knees because of the activity they are involved in. After reading your story, I feel I need to add a few more bikes.

    2. Yes, the same is about Chelsea dolls. They have articulated knees in the sets with bikes and horses... I like the Chelsea and Skipper "Bike for Two" (at least the blue version). Maybe I'll buy it some day, but without dolls.

did you have the new Barbie bike ???

    1. Shasarignis - I've seen the new bike. Decided at the time that I didn't need another bike. Funny how that works. If I see it again in the store, I might get it. Of course, if I do the bike story before I buy it, I probably won't get it.

  13. I love bikes and now I´m waiting for receiving a motorbike (vespa) that I´ve bought recently. Bikes can be used by everybody. What about to go to work?? Or to ride on them in a garden, in a park... they´re perfect for children for example ;)

    1. Ana - You have some great ideas. I like the one about biking to work. I also like seeing little kids learning how to ride a bike. Enjoy your Vespa!
