Dolls, Dolls, Dolls!

I'm baaacckkk!  Did you miss me?  I missed you guys.  I know I haven't been gone long, but it feels like it's been a lifetime.  I had to take a little time to address some personal family issues.  All is taken care of now, so it's back to the dolls.  Somehow I managed to buy more dolls even during my blog absence.  Everyone was having sales, and I was able to get free shipping in a couple of cases.  You know how much I hate getting dolls on sale, but then losing all the savings to shipping charges.

This box was left on my doorstep yesterday.  What in the world?!  I don't remember ordering anything that would require a box this big.  I checked and it was from Mattel.

Upon opening the box, I realized that Mattel had lost their minds.

Why on earth are they shipping my three items in a box this size?  I can't imagine that they didn't have something a little smaller.

Mattel is having a holiday sale that includes free shipping on orders over $25.  So I picked up a few clearance items.  First up is this Monster High Cafe set.  I've had my eye on it ever since it came out.  It was on clearance for $10.99.

I was finally about to get the Twist and Twirl, complete with a Stacy doll, for $12.99.

The only Twilight doll on clearance was this one for $10.99.  I bought her mainly for her cute little outfit.  I can't wait for one of my ladies to sport this one.

D7ana, at A Philly Collector of Playscale Dolls, did a post about a Mixis Doll sale good until the end of today, 12/13/13.  Hope you see this post in time to catch the sale.  They have their Mixi dolls on sale for $19.95, original price about $59.  I bought the two you see below.
This is Emerald from the Limited Edition.  She has articulated arms and click knees.  All of the dolls from the Limited collection are articulated this way.

I also got Rose from the First Edition.  She is my favorite from both collections, and even though she doesn't have any articulation, I had to get her.

Moving on.....Barbie Collector.com is having a shipping special for orders over $25.  I still had my $20 off coupon that I needed to use, so I ordered the two dolls below; Jennifer Lopez and Hunger Games Peeta.  I was able to get the two of them, with my coupon and free shipping, for $34.90.

It's warming up a bit here in Atlanta, which means I will be able to spend more time in my doll room.  So I plan to post a story or two this weekend.  I will also be catching up on my blog reading that I am a little behind on.  Have a great weekend!

  2. Very nice shopping! I have both J.Lo and Peeta, so I'm curious about your opinion about those dolls.
Mixis dolls! They are pretty interesting, especially Rosa. You're so lucky that you got them! Their price is very good now, unfortunately shipping to Poland is 60usd +, so I can only admire them at your blog.

  3. Welcome back Vanessa! I missed you! You got some great buys there. I got the Finnick doll myself, and Peeta is on my wishlist. But I can't get anymore dolls until after Christmas. I'm hoping Peeta and one or two others will show up under my tree! LOL :-)

  8. Great purchases!! I cannot understand the extra size of the box either, they should have included an "extra" doll to fill the space... I LOVE Peeta and Jennifer Lopez, they are soo awesome! And your Bella was at a great price and her outfit was worth the spending.

  9. Yes, I missed you! I too took advantage of some of the sales and free shipping. I got all of the Hunger Games dolls and got 2 Mixis dolls and some Mixis doll clothes and patterns. The Mixis clothes and shoes are good fit for the One World dolls and the clothes work pretty good on the Barbie Grandma body too.

Looking forward to your next story!

    1. Phyllis - I'm glad you got a chance to buy some new dolls. I thought about getting some Mixis doll clothes, but since they didn't have free shipping, I stopped at just the two dolls. I was thinking the clothes would be great for Grandma, too.

    2. O Phyllis - do share photos of the Mixis dolls and the Prettie Girls dolls. That sounds so exciting. I look forward to seeing your blog launch.

I have to laugh at the thought of the Barbie Grandma wearing the Mixis fashions. Nice that Grandma has more tops to wear and Opal's jeans would look good on her, too. Thanks for that idea. Have to try it out.

    1. KenyaDoll - Why are you surprised about the J.Lo doll? It was on my list the moment I heard it was coming out. I love J.Lo.

Maybe you can create the feeling of warmth by setting up some summer dioramas with your dolls.

    2. I'm not as big fan of J.Lo. LOL! But I will admit they did a good job on the molds and I like the Diva J.Lo one, the one with the sparkly catsuit.

      I just love the catsuit! :}

Plus, I have no dioramas for my dollies. I have nothing for them like you do. They are just in a vinyl bag and I will take them out and change clothes or do their hair sometimes. LOL! I guess I am a bad Doll Mommy. But one day I would like to do dolly series like you. I miss enjoying my Barbies like a little girl.

  13. I got that same Café set on sale from Amazon along with some other goodies. I used my rewards so they were FREE and free shipping. Thanks for turning me on to Prime. That and getting the Amazon Visa Rewards card were the best things I got this year. LOL, I sound like a bot for Amazon.

Although it's ridiculous they sent you that huge butt box, I would totally use that cardboard to make something with.

    1. Muff - I didn't turn you on to Prime. You turned me on to Prime! So thank you. I haven't taken full advantage of it, but it's been great and I plan to sign up again next year.

You are right. That would have made a wonderful cardboard house. Since I don't really make things out of cardboard, it never occurred to me, and now that box is sitting out in the rain. Ooops.

    1. Tracy - Hello darling. I am going to have to find a good way get more of these beauties seen. It's impossible to have separate storylines for everyone, so I will have to brainstorm some other way. I was just thinking that some type of sorority or women's group would be a great way to get some of the ladies together.

    1. Carrickters - I can't believe how crazy my life got for a little while. Yesterday I rested a little for the first time in a long time. Getting new dolls are a source of excitement and a little stressful too. Seeing the new boxes reminds me of how many new items I haven't had time to play with.

  16. Cindi - Thanks. It's good to be back. I'm not buying anymore dolls until next year....unless there's a deal that I just can't pass up. lol.

    1. Sonya - Wait until you see the back of that gown. It's gorgeous. So many dolls, so little time to play with them all. But I will do my best to give them all a little camera time.

  18. Rossetti - Thanks. They could have included quite a few more dolls in that box. I got free shipping. I can't imagine what they paid just to ship a box that size.

  19. I'm behind with my blog reading .... ahhh!

You got them, you got them. Yippee! So glad to see you got Rosa and Emerald. (Psst ... Rosa is my favorite of the 4, too. Not that you heard that, lol.) Can't wait to see what their characters are like in Morristown.

The big Mattel box made me laugh. They probably send extra large boxes out so that your neighbors think, wow, what cool stuff has she got from Mattel now. Or maybe the postal workers would think that. No, they're probably cussing to themselves about the bulkiness of the box, lol.

Glad to read this post. Hope you have great times with your new and old dollies ;-D

    1. D7ana - They arrived yesterday and I love them.

There aren't any markings on that big box, so the neighbors don't even know it's a Mattel box. I didn't think about using it to build something. Oh well. I blew that.

    2. Awwww ... you'll get another big box, lol. I have faith and hope. (Getting some vicarious fun shopping via you so don't mean that critically ;-)

Glad you love the Mixis. I'm hoping that they'll bring out the next set of dolls shown on FB on the Mixis Jr page. Sigh. More lovely dolls.
