TJ and a Movie

I finally found TJ at my local Walmart.  He was $14.97.  They had about four different versions of him.  I picked Night Out TJ.  I liked his outfit the best.  They also had one Dwayne, but I'm not going to add him to the collection.

Here he is deboxed.  He's pretty cool.  The clothes for the men are very nice.  I like them better than the Kenya fashion.

Here's my Kenya doll, Tyeshaa, with TJ.  She's one of the fully articulated ones, and he's only articulated in the knees.

They are not a couple.  I think he's a little too old for her.  She's one of my college ladies.  I will have to find him a nice lady.

These are Christmas ornaments.  Ms. Leo at I Luv Dolls, talked about finding these lamps at Walmart for $1.97.  I had to get a couple pair.  I got the cupcake ornament to possibly use as decor in a bakery.  I will more than likely take the hanging crystals off the lamps to make them a little sleeker.

Hey look, a new video!  I had retired from video making, but the YouTube fans were pretty brutal in their response to me not continuing.  When we got the extra hour last weekend from the clock falling back, I used it to make this video.  I had to make the birth a little less real than it is on my blog.  I didn't want to scare the kiddies.

Love those lamp ornaments, too. I know you'll put them to wonderful use in your dios.

    1. DBG - I've only seen TJ at one of the 5 Walmarts in my area. I sure wish they would sell his clothes separately. I like all the outfits.

    2. It was good seeing another one of your video productions! I understand why your fans have pressured you to do more.

    3. DBG - Thanks for watching the video. Now that I've moved to Windows 8, the video making process isn't the same. I had to go back to my old computer, to get it finished and posted.

  4. The dolls are very nice! I saw those Lamps on someone else's blog and rushed out to buy them. Unfortunately, they are too large for my 1:12 dolls.

    1. Grandmommy- Maybe you saw them on I Luv Dolls blog. I think I remember seeing your comment there. There are larger than I expected them to be. They are almost too big for Barbie, but it will work.

  7. I bought four of these same lamps at my local Walmart as well. I plan on taking the crystals off and repainting them with fabric paint. I got a gold chandelier as well. Congrats on TJ! :-)

    1. Cindi - What a wonderful idea! Painting the lamps. I may have to borrow that idea from you. That would mean I need more lamps. I got two of the black chandeliers last Christmas. Is it my imagination or did we just have Christmas not that long ago.

  8. Those Christmas ornaments are so cute! I will repeat myself again, in such moments I regret I'm not from US :D

It's such a pity that TJ arms aren't articulated, it would be good to have more body replacement options for men. But his clothes are indeed very nice!

    1. jewel snake - You would be broke like the rest of us if you lived here. lol. I agree about the TJ body. They were probably going to articulate him when they first came out, but due to lackluster sales of the first wave, I think they had to rethink full articulation to get the prices more affordable.

  9. I haven't see the TJ here yet. I can't make the rounds on the bus! ;) Painting the lamp...that is a good idea but I already have a long line of thing to paint. Loved the video. I haven't work myself up to a new video yet.

    1. Ms. Leo - I wonder if there is a fabric spray paint? That would be perfect. But now that I think about it, I already have the Liquitex medium that turns regular acrylic paint into fabric paint. I had given up videos, due to time issues. Hopefully you will find time to do another one soon.

  11. I love the lamps. I will have to see if any of my walmarts have them this weekend also iI agree that Tjs clothes should be in a seperate pack as well. You know my opinion on the whole clothes thing anyway....lol

    1. william - Hope you are able to find some lamps. All the companies seem to be missing the opportunity to sell separate clothes. We must be missing something. Maybe the profit margins just aren't there. I don't know. Seems simple enough to me.

  14. I bought those lamps too, thanks to Ms. Leo. I only got the cow ones, not the leopard ones though. I did not see those cupcakes but got some chandeliers instead.

Are you saying that the clothing for the males is better quality than the ladies or that you just prefer it? All the Walmarts in my rotation are carrying an overstock of Kenya stuff right now so I'm hoping for some decent pricing on it later.

It was so nice to see a video from you! I first found you through your videos and I started a blog identity so I could comment on your work and blog.

    1. Muff - Personally, I think the male clothing is better quality and better style. Yes, there are a ton of the Kenya dolls in our stores, but not a lot of TJs and Dwaynes. I don't need any more of the Kenya dolls.

I used that extra hour we recently got to make this video. I figured it wasn't fair to leave the YouTubers hanging with just a partial baby shower. Now at least there is closure in case I don't ever do another video.

    1. V. - The other TJs had some cute outfits, too. I was looking for more ornaments yesterday. I really need to check out one of those stores dedicated to Christmas stuff. I'm sure I would find some good ones there. I need to check Hallmark ornaments, too.

Going to come back to see the video - have to catch up with lots of posts ;-)

  17. TJ looks great, pity Kenya's are yet another lot of dolls that only seem to be available in the US. And while I keep looking at the Christmas ornaments here in Australia, I haven't seen any lamps (or cupcakes) yet. But I did find a beautiful mirror that was American Girl size so you never know, I may find Barbie sized something yet.

    1. Carrickters - It really is a shame that the AA dolls seem to be limited to selling in the US. I will never understand this. What kind of hobby shops do you guys have in Australia? Just curious.

      Delete
    2. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'hobby shops'. We have Riot Art and Craft which sells art and craft supplies, otherwise most craft supplies are sold through fabric chains like Spotlight or Lincraft. For other hobbies, you have to hunt - maybe toy stores, maybe some of the variety stores depends on what you are looking for.
