Dinner Prep at Lauren's House (Photostory)

It's Sunday and Lauren is having a family dinner.

Racquel and Terrance are talking with her dad.  Her brother, JR, is watching t.v.

Faith is trying to get her laundry done, but little Nina is getting in the way.
"Why are you in my laundry basket?"  (Faith)

"Why are you doing your laundry right now?"  (Mom)
"Because this is the only time I have to do it, and I don't have anything to wear."  (Faith)
"Put Nina in the high chair.  I'll give her a snack to keep her occupied."  (Mom)

Baby Shay is in the walker playing with the built in toys.  Her little legs are too short to reach the floor, so she just stays put, wherever they place her.

Faith takes Nina out of the laundry basket and heads to the highchair.
(I bought this highchair at the doll show a week ago.  The tray lifts up and everything.)

She mutters to herself and Nina, "Where's your mother?  She should be doing this.  I have enough to do today."  (Faith)

"Racquel, do you mind making some guacamole for me?"  (Mom)

"Sure.  I'll be right there."  (Racquel)

Faith gets back to her laundry.

"Let's get you a snack."  (Lauren)

"There's your mommy."  (Lauren)
"Dad said hello."  (Angelica)
"How's he doing?"  (Lauren)
"He's okay.  Just traveling a lot with his job."  (Angelica)

"Here you go."  (Lauren)

Nina gets excited upon seeing the graham cracker.
"I know.  I know.  Calm down."  (Lauren)

"Auntie, do you need help with dinner?  Or I could make something for dessert."  (Angelica)
"Funny you should mention dessert.  I already took the mixer out, hoping you would bless us with something sweet."  (Lauren)
"Sure."  (Angelica, chuckles)

Racquel and Angelica sit and start making their respective dishes.

Racquel gets ready to load the food processor and realizes she is missing an ingredient.

"Mom, I need a lime."  (Racquel)
"I thought I took the lime out.  Guess not."  (Lauren)
Baby Shay starts whining in an effort to get out of her seat.

"Honey, can you grab her.  We're cooking."  (Racquel)
"No problem."  (Terrance)

"Man, I can't believe you have my granddaughter dressed in Redskin colors.  That's just insulting."  (Dad, laughing)
"She's my good luck charm when my Skins play."  (Terrence)
"I guess with that team, you need all the luck you can get."  (Dad)
"Now that's just wrong."  (Terrance)

"Who left the ice tray empty!"  (Lauren)
Silence
"Hello?  Am I talking to myself?"  (Lauren)

"Mom, I'm sorry.  I meant to refill it, but Dad distracted me."  (JR)

"As usual, your son is full of excuses."  (Dad)

"You want me to come fill it up, now?"  (JR)
"No, I want you to go to the store and buy a bag of ice."  (Lauren)
"But mom, the game is about to come on."  (JR)
"Son, stop talking back to your mother and go to the store like she asked."  (Dad)

JR does get up and go to the store. Lauren and the ladies finish dinner.  We may see them again.

Here is a shot of the temporary extension I put up at the back of the Victorian house.

  1. Oh, a house extension - that's a good idea. Not that I've done anything with my Victorian, but it's nice to think about, lol.

A typical scene of ladies in the kitchen while men sit down. My house was all ladies but I got to sit down because I was purposefully horrible in the kitchen, lol.

    1. Muff - Most Barbie houses can benefit from a little extension. Luckily my mom hoarded the kitchen area, and didn't want anyone in it but her, so I got to sit down, too. After many years of struggling to be a good cook, I needed to have my butt in the kitchen. I'm finally getting better at it. Oddly enough, I was always blessed with men who could throw down in the kitchen.

  2. The ice conversation made me smile: how often does that happen in a family house? Love Lauren's no nonsense get to the store and pick up more [ice]. Love the posing of the father and son on the sofa.

House extension looks good. Thanks for sharing the graham crackers - amazing detail on them ;-)

And you *knew* I would comment on the food, lol.

    1. D7ana - It's so much easier just putting the ice tray back in the freezer. That walk to the sink can be so tiring. lol. Wow, you are even commenting on graham crackers. I wonder what Angelica will make for dessert? I'm sure you were wondering the same thing.

    1. Brini - Thanks. I surprised I have so many of these small Mattel houses, but it's hard to pass them up when I find them so cheap. So I just have to make them work.

  7. I have the same doll as Nina. I love her little smile! I think she can wear Toddle Nikki outfits. Cute story. OK, there is never enough ice in ice tray! You might as well buy a bag to begin with!

    1. Ms. Leo - Yes she can wear toddler Nikki clothes. That's whose clothes she has on in the post. Yes, I think Lauren slept on buying the bag of ice to begin with. She didn't have enough ice trays anyway. It still grates on her nerves when there's an empty tray sitting in the fridge.

  10. Love the way you combined the wood (don't know if it's real wood but even though) and plastic ;)

    1. V. - Thanks. No it's not real wood. It's actually thin cardboard. I just move it place it when I need a door. It was only supposed to be temporary while I made actual door. lol. I haven't quite gotten to the door making project, yet.
