Danielle and The Boys' Halloween (Photostory)

It's Halloween night and Danielle and the boys are headed to the same party Vanessa's family is headed to.  Rod is not feeling well, and Danielle has tucked him in bed for the night.

"Okay, there.  Now you are all set."  (Danielle)

"Mommy, what's in there?"  (Julian)
"That's my butternut squash soup.  I'm taking some to the party."  (Danielle)
"Are they going to have candy?"  (Julian)
"I'm sure there's going to be lots of candy."  (Danielle)
"I'm going to check on Daddy."  (Julian)
"Okay, but don't stay long.  We are leaving as soon as my friends get here."  (Danielle)

Julian heads upstairs to see Rod.

"So, Tony the Tiger, are you ready to party."  (Danielle)

"Let's go, Mommy."  (Jacob)
"We are leaving soon.  We have to wait for my friends."  (Danielle)

Looks like Rod has made his way downstairs.

"Honey, what are you doing out of bed?"  (Danielle)

"I just wanted to come say goodbye to you guys."  (Rod)

"I just said goodbye to you, when I tucked you in.  You need to get back in the bed, pronto."  (Danielle)

"Come on honey.  You still have a fever, and you need your rest."  (Danielle)

"So when are you guys leaving and when are you coming back?"  (Rod)
"Do you want us to just stay here with you?  I told you we would."  (Danielle)

"Nooo.  That's not fair to the boys.  You know Julian has been waiting all week to show off his Batman costume."  (Rod)
"Okay.  Well as soon as my coworker and his girlfriend get here, we'll leave and I will only stay for an hour.  That will be enough time for the boys.  I will call to check on you.  Now, go."  (Danielle)
"Okay.  I love you."  (Rod)
"Love you, too."  (Danielle)

As Rod heads back upstairs, the doorbell rings.  He stops in his tracks as Danielle goes to answer the door.

It's her coworker Sheldon and his buddy.
"Hey Sheldon.  I'm loving the Storm Trooper outfits!  Is this your girlfriend?"  (Danielle)

"No, my girlfriend couldn't make it, so I brought my buddy, JT."  (Sheldon)
"Hello JT.  Nice to meet you."  (Danielle)
"Likewise."  (JT)

"That's my sick husband, Rod.  Honey, you remember Sheldon?"  (Danielle)

"Hey guys.  Nice costumes.  I used to love Star Trek."  (Rod)

"Honey, the Storm Troopers are from Star Wars, not Star Trek."  (Danielle)
"I'm always confusing those two."  (Rod)

"And you remember my sons, Julian and Jacob?"  (Danielle)

"Cooool costume."  (Julian)
"Thanks.  Your costume is awesome, too."  (Sheldon)
"Why do you have a gun?  My mommy says guns are bad."  (Julian)

"And your mom is right.  This isn't a real gun.  It's nothing but rubber.  Unfortunately, it's the only way they sell the costumes."  (Sheldon)

"Well we need to get a move on.  Let me grab my purse and the soup."  (Danielle)

As Danielle goes to the dining room, she notices that Rod is still standing there and he has a less than pleasant look on his face.

"Honey are you okay?"  (Danielle)

"I'm fine."  (Rod)
Danielle recognizes a strange tone in his voice and she walks over to him.

"Are you sure you are okay?"  (Danielle)
"Well I'd just rather be hanging out with you and the boys than laying up here alone."  (Rod)
"For the final time, do you want us to stay here?"  (Danielle)
"I said no.  Go.  Have a great time.  I'll wait up to hear all about it."  (Rod)

This is the first time Rod has been sick, since he and Danielle have been together.  Danielle is realizing that he is like most sick men.  Just a little on the difficult side.  She knows if she stays, he's going to feel bad about disappointing the boys.  She knows if she leaves, he's going to be pouting the whole time.  It's a no win situation.  She's going to the party.  She will stroke his ego later.

  1. Awwww Rod. It's kind of cute how pouty he gets. Cute and a bit annoying. Mostly cute. And those storm troopers just made my day!

    1. Verona - What is it about men when they get sick? If he had gotten his flu shot like everyone else, he may not have even caught it. Glad you like the storm troopers.

    1. Grandmommy - Julian had misplaced his bat cape. They were tearing the house apart looking for it. They found it just in time. Can't be Batman without a cape.

Poor Rod. Men can be such big babies when they are sick.

  5. Rod is just like all men when they get sick XD I hope he gets well soon. The children's costumes are so cute! And the way you incorporated the troopers in your story really made me laugh!

    1. V. - Danielle is hoping Rod gets better, too. She already has two kids to deal with. She doesn't need a third. I just had to show those troopers. I love them.

  6. Laughing. Especially since the storm troopers were both guys. He is going to pout the whole time. He just had to come and let her see him be pitiful before she left. Too funny.

    1. Kenya - Yes, I'm sure his attitude changed when he found out his wife was going to be out with two guys, instead of a couple. Poor thing. She will probably hear about that later.

    1. Puck - Danielle was still on the fence about leaving, but it's either deal with a pouting husband, or two crying kids that couldn't go to the party. I would pick going to the party, too.

  10. Awww ... poor Rod. He's usually such a even-tempered, good natured guy. I'd have still gone on to the Party, but poor, dear Rod. If the situation were reversed, we *know* Danielle would have been cheering them on in spite of her ailment. Still they are a great couple; I love to see them even when one of them is a little "out of sorts." Suggestion: give him some NyQuil or one of those cold medications to "help" him fall asleep.

Julian in the Batman costume and Jacob as Tony the Tiger are so cute. I love to see those young charmers.

    Like the Storm Troopers.

Oh and that kitchen ... is it part of the Happy Family's kitchen? I think I recognize the yellow wall. I love how you expanded it.

    1. D7ana - I guess Rod is human after all. Something about sickness and men, do not mix. My ex got a migraine on my birthday and he was upset that I didn't pamper him. I told him, "you can't get sick on my birthday and expect pampering." She should have tried a sleeping pill. lol.

Thanks. Yes, that is the Happy Family Grandma kitchen.

  15. Once I saw the name Sheldon and the Storm Troopers, I immediately thought of The Big Bang Theory.

  16. LOL, it's weird seeing Rod being out of sorts. Danielle going out with a male coworker and his girlfriend is one thing, but going out with 2 guys?! He does not care for that at all.

Okay, she's going to "stroke his ego" later? You are setting up these double entendre in my head on purpose, so you are totally to blame for my next statement:

Yeah, I bet she's going to stroke his ego later. She can also give him a dose of bow chicka bow wow to make him feel better.

    1. Muff - Even our dear Rod is human. Maybe his meds have him a little delusional. Surely he doesn't believe that Danielle is going to step out of line.

Most of my double entendres are intentional. This one wasn't. I swear.

  17. Danielle made the correct decision, children are first! And, Rod is like most men... they are so bad patients!!! Jacob is lovely, but as always Julian stole my heart! I see you found the way to introduce the startroopers you bought!

    1. Rossetti - Sometimes when men get sick, they act like the children. You just have to shake your head sometimes. The storm trooper idea was a last minute decision. I really didn't want to wait another year to show them.
