Pet A Palooza

My Saturdays are now dedicated to my granddaughter.  We spend the day, sometimes the whole weekend, enjoying life.  It helps that we have so much in common.  This Saturday we went to Pet-A-Palooza at Piedmont Park, Atlanta GA.  They had activities for the animals from 12 - 6pm.  Now that I think about it, I didn't see anything but dogs there.  It was a rainy day, so it wasn't packed, but Bruce and Buttercup had a good time.

Here we are in the photo booth.  I didn't have a clue where the camera was until after they snapped the pictures.

Here's Bruce modeling his Pet-A-Palooza shirt.

It says, "I went to Pet-A-Palooza and all I got was this shirt."

This was the only size they had, so Buttercup didn't get one.

I guess this is a good time to introduce Buttercup.  I rescued her a couple weeks ago.  She was left outside for over a year.  The person who was supposed to be taking care of her, just let her roam the streets.  The neighbors were making sure she got food and water.  I confronted the man when I learned what was going on.  I know he thought I was crazy.  Once it started getting cold, I couldn't sleep knowing that she was outside freezing.  After two days of no sleep, I knew I had to do something.

Two baths and two haircuts later, she's starting to look presentable.  She was a mess.  She's such a lovable dog, and all she wants me to do is hold her.  She and Bruce are becoming fast buddies.  Bruce happily shares his food with her, which is surprising since he doesn't let humans (other than me) get near his food.

Bruce didn't move the whole time I was taking these pictures.  So all I had to deal with was getting Buttercup to sit still.

    1. adrian - Thanks. She and I always have a great time together. It's one of my goals to keep her smiling. Buttercup is a hoot! She is such a prima dona. She is trying to make up for all the time she didn't get loved.

  2. That really touchs my heart. I'm glad you took Buttercup in. She looks like such a sweetie pie. This reminds me of my cat, Naomi, who I took in when I found her wandering my neighbrhood.

    1. Verona - I am such a dog lover, that I can't stand to see them mistreated. She is so lovable, which is great. Ooh, I love the name Naomi. I'm surprised I don't have a doll by that name. I will have to remember that one. Thanks for caring enough to take in a stray.

    1. DBG - Funny how I didn't want any more dogs and I now have two. They really do brighten up my day, though. It amazes me how much alike Angelica and I are. You would think we were blood related for sure.

  4. So your family is expanding - Buttercup looks like a sweetie and it is good that Bruce gets on very well with her. I'm always amazed at how people take on animals and then don't take care of them or abandon them.

    1. Carrickters - Yes the family is expanding. Years ago I wanted to turn my house into a dog rescue place. I never did it, but it feels good that I've rescued two dogs this year.

    1. Marta - I think I like dogs more than I like some of the people I meet. If I could give all the unwanted dogs a home, I would.

  8. Bruce is trying to teach Buttercup the lay of the land. She will understand that she has found a safe haven in your care.

By the way, Buttercup is the name of my favorite Power Puff Girl!

    1. Muff - Buttercup adopted me the first time we met. She hopped in my car and snuggled in my arms. I had just met her, and wondered who she was. It broke my heart to leave her there, after hearing what was going on. She has been snuggling and loving on me ever since.

Hard to see you as a lover of PP girls.

  9. Great to see your big smiles. The doggies are sooo cute. I prefer cats - why I live with one, lol - but I hate to see any animals mistreated.

(Except roaches and roaches are pests and disease-bearing creatures. Shudder, ick.)

    1. D7ana - Can you tell, we both love to smile? Cats are pretty cool, too. I had one for about 6 years.
