Let The Games Begin! (Photostory)

The ladies have finished their lunch and now it's time to play a few games.

"Okay ladies, it's game time!  My sisters and I are in charge of games, so I thought we'd get it started with a little baby shower bingo."  (Grace)

Lauren looks on as she tries to get baby Shay to take a nap.

"My little assistants will help me pass out the bingo cards. Only one per person, please.  This is not your local church bingo."  (Grace)
There is laughter in the crowd.

Valerie looks over her bingo card as she takes a sip of wine.

"Is she almost sleep?"  (Racquel)
"Are you kidding?  Those beautiful eyes are wide open."  (Lauren)

"So, Kendra and I will alternate calling out different baby items.  The first one to get bingo, and call it out, will win a gift.  Good luck everyone."  (Grace)

It takes about 20 mins before Tanisha declares BINGO!  Her prize is a gift certificate for a massage at the local spa, owned by the Coopers.

"Well that was fun.  Now we will move on to one of my favorite games called 'What's in your purse?'  The person who has the most points after I call off all the items, will win a gift.  There are different point values for each of the items.  The more obscure the item, the more points you get."  (Jacquelyn)

"I will give you all a moment to get ready."  (Jacquelyn)

"We should both have a good chance of winning this game."  (Valerie)
"You know I almost cleaned my purse out this morning.  Good thing I didn't."  (India)

Tanisha decides to get a little dessert.  She's sitting out the next game, since she won the first one.

After Lauren's failed attempt at getting baby Shay to sleep, Racquel convinces her to put the baby in the stroller and play the purse game.

Shay seems to be fine entertaining herself.

Tanisha is doing what she does best....eat.  Where does she put it all?

The purse game ends and you won't believe who accumulated the most points.  It was Vanessa.  Yay!  Her prize was a gift card to Target for $20.

Dominique moves on to the third and final game called, 'Guess the waist'.  She passes around a roll of ribbon and the ladies are instructed to cut a piece that is the size of Kendra's waist.  The person closest will win a prize.

Robin leads her daughter, Courtney to the restroom.

There are side conversations as the ribbon makes it's way around the room.

"Let's see if we can win another game, Alicia."  (Vanessa)

"Okay, so I'm going to demonstrate where you need to place the ribbon when you come up here."  (Dominique)

Looks like little Kourtney is sitting this game out.

After all is said and done, and all the ladies have tried their ribbons, Valerie comes closest to the actual belly size.  She is thrilled with the win, and gladly accepts her gift bag filled with spa-like goodies.

Baby Shay eventually falls asleep, even with all the excitement in the room.

Next up, Kendra opens some gifts.

  1. Great story. Since when did wine substitue frappe' at baby showers? LOL! Kendra handled "guess the waist" very graciously.

  2. Looks like everyone is having a great time! Hmm. I would've loved the Target gift card. Whahooo! Although...a massage would've been nice too. Kendra looks like she could have that baby any minute now. :-)

    1. Cindi - At the last baby shower I attended in real life, I won the purse game and the gift was a $20 Target gift card. I was more than thrilled. Let's hope Kendra makes it through the shower without any mishaps.

  4. Great job on this photostory. Each shot was full of details. These are all games that I have played. I won once, the one where the waist is measured. I won some Bath and Body Works products. Looking forward to seeing the gifts. I just know you made some of them. : )

    1. Georgia Girl - I was trying to get both the games and the gifts in the same story. No go. I'm glad I went to a baby shower recently. It definitely helped with this story.

  5. Great story, fun games! I agree that Kendra was a good sport to play along with the waist measuring game. She knows that waist size is only temporary.

Baby Shay looks so peaceful asleep.

  6. As someone who has never been to anything like this I find all this stuff so interesting. You merge stories and situations so well.

    1. Muff - How did you make it through life without attending a baby shower? I haven't been to very many either. They are a lot of fun. There are tons of games to choose from. Most parents will have a baby registry at a couple of local baby stores. Those things are always like treasure hunts to me.

  8. I always love games at a baby shower. The bingo game brings back memories of my sister's baby shower when i made up the the bingo cards with 50 different items. It took almost 45 minutes to declare a winner. I am glad yours only took 20 minutes.

    1. Male Doll World - I've never played the bingo game in real life. Whew, 45 mins is a long time for one game. My guests would have gotten a little antsy.

  9. Hahaha, a friend of mine told me if we did the "Guess the Waist Size" game at her party, she'd murder us all XD

We did do a game where you take the baby pictures of both the parents, cut them up, then mix and match, and the Mom chooses the "cutest" baby pic, and that's the winner. Mine ended up with devil horns and a third eye... don't ask, hahaha!

Needless to say, I didn't win!

This was a really cute story though :)

  12. Oh yes! You need wine at the shower! I loved the games. I want to see Kendra with the hat on! Ha ha ha! That is the money shot! Great story! So no men crashed the shower...hmmm.

    1. Ms. Leo - I would want wine at my shower, even if I couldn't drink it. The hat comment went 'over my head'. What hat? We may see some men in the end. You never know.

      Delete
    2. Vanessa, Ms. Leo's could be referring to the shower tradition where someone takes a pie plate and affixes all the ribbon from each gift to the plate making a hat. I have seen that done at a few baby showers.

    3. AG Lanc - Oh, thanks for the info! I have never seen it done in real life, but now that you mention it, it sounds familiar.

  15. Never been to any babyshower, so this was very interesting to read from "scientific" reason too :) You made this diorama so natural, I totaly love all the food. Playing games, meeting with friends, all of this seems so carefree and natural, girls know how to spend a good time.

Excuse me asking here, but is this doll still for sale? http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-P35Newmdiv0/UFdHiJ6inJI/AAAAAAAAOlY/9_7uZC_0mmk/s1600/More+Dolls+For+Sale+005.JPG

    1. Debbie - Hello! I miss you. I kicked butt on the what's in your purse game. The items that put me over the top: more than 10 membership cards; over 25 coins; a pay stub that was over 4 yrs old; and dental floss. I had lots more, but no one else had the items I mentioned above. Hope you are doing well.

  17. Christopher asked me why are you looking at those dolls all the time. My answer, "Because I like to." He said, "You still like dolls?" I said, "No."

But I sure love your dolls! The waist came was annoying to me. I didn't feel like participating.

    1. Kenya - You are throwing poor Christopher for a loop with these dolls. Yeah, I can't see you playing the waist game. Something about all those people touching you. I just can't see it.
