Model 17 Articulated in 2013

I was all set to post pictures from the baby shower, and then I hit upon these images from BarbieCollector.com.  It appears that BB Model #17 is getting articulated.  That is great news.  He is part of the cheerleading series and he is from Texas A&M.  His price is $24.95 and he comes dressed in a nice outfit.  I have no need to buy him now that my guy is articulated, but it's still good news.  ALL IMAGED are property of BarbieCollector.com.

There is a Caucasian male, too.  He is pictured below.

Here is the AA University of Kentucky cheerleader.  I like that they are going back to some of the older molds.

University of Oklahoma cheerleaders

University of Tennessee cheerleaders

Morocco and United Kingdom Dolls of the World.  There is also a Canadian one.  I posted these two because I would love to buy the Moroccan one, and I like the outfit on the UK one.  NO MORE DOLLS!

I know what some of you are thinking.  Why did they articulate the men and not the women.  I have no answers.  I'm not even going there.  I am going to focus on the positiveness of the articulated men.  Baby shower pictures will be posted later this evening or tomorrow morning.

  1. Yay, the guys are poseable.

Boo, the gals aren't. And shouldn't they be? Yes.

Shrug. Ah but that is logic Mattel-style. Good thing they make attractive looking dolls. Tsk.

  2. And thanks for getting this good news out so soon, Vanessa.

    1. You're welcome, D7ana. Yes articulated female cheerleaders make a whole lot of sense, especially when you already have articulated bodies laying about.

  3. I was so happy to see there will be two articulated boys! Need to buy them definitely! And Tori doll, she's so pretty! I have to say I'm surprised they used Lara for African American doll. As for me she totally looks like tanned white girl, could never pass as any other ethnicity (she totaly failed when was portraying Native American too).

    1. jewel snake - Now that I'm looking at the Caucasian male again, I think I may add him instead of Dr. Cullen. It's the same sculpt but this one is articulated. Funny you should mention the Lara sculpt. My non-white Lara sculpt doll is attending the baby shower.

  5. Oops... didn't know you blogged this. I just found out about AA Ken with what appears to be semi but hopefully full articulation and blogged it, too.

    1. DBG - Great minds blog about similar topics. LOL. If you look at the AA and the Caucasian doll, their legs are in different positions and appears to be jointed at the knees. That's a good sign.

  6. I really like that articulated male. I keep collecting articulated Barbies. Not even sure what I am going to do with them!
    Thanks for the info.

    1. Grandmommy - You have a ton of Barbie stuff so those bodies will come in handy.

  7. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! Nessa, girl...this is AWESOME news! Thank you for posting, I'm saving up for at least the AA guy...NOW. :)

On a side note, I really hope Mattel doesn't pull some nonsense like, fully articulate arms but stiff legs. They'll cause World War XII if they pull something like that.

    Thanks again! :)

    1. Tracy - I couldn't believe it. They should be ready by June 6th. If I hadn't gotten Ian a body already, I would be buying one of these, too. Looking at the legs on both the males, it appears that their legs are articulated too. Fingers crossed.

  8. Yep, just read the ad and it says..."Articulate Arms." I still think he's worth it but I'm sure he'll have those stiff legs. Still, hoping for a surprise. :)

    1. Tracy - Oh goodness! That sucks. In that case, I suggest you buy the body I got for my guy for $22. You won't be disappointed. He will be able to do some incredible poses. They should at least go back to click knees at the very least. Dolls need to be able to sit.

    2. Muff - This is when the $80 worth of coupons ($20 per quarter) come in handy at BC.com. And if you buy it when BC is having one of their free shipping specials, which happens a few times per year, this doll would be $4.95.

  11. Thanks for the news on the dolls. I wish they had used a different male face mold for the African American. I need different faces.

  12. Yay! Articulated guys at least. Is it the picture or does the Caucasian fellow look like Dr.? Cullen or Carlyle? Moreville could use more guys, but for right now...NO MORE DOLLS! LOL :-)

    1. Cindi - Yes, the Caucasian guy is the same sculpt as Dr. Cullen. I was excited to see that since I didn't buy Dr. Cullen, yet. But if the legs aren't articulated, I will still get Dr. Cullen for the outfit.

  13. Wow, I need that boy!! My Brandon (my basics male) lacks articulation and this one could take his role perfectly LOL The problem is that I can't buy him at Barbiecollector and here it will be impossible to get him. I have to wait and see if they ebay him. Thanks so much for sharing!

  14. Nice to see another male face in the Barbie world but I do hope he is fully articulated. It would be annoying to have a doll with moveable arms and legs constantly bent but Mattel don't seem to realise how much we all enjoy being able to pose our dolls.

    1. Carrickters - I agree. I think I get more upset with the partially articulated doll because I STILL have to get them a new body to use them the way I need to. I guess we need to start leaving regular comments directly to Mattel because they apparently aren't reading our blogs. LOL.

  15. Squeal! Thank you so much for blogging this! I had no idea and it's such good news.

    HAPPY SIGHS....

  16. Roville - Happy to hear your squeals. There is a possibility that it's not full articulation. I'm sure we will hear about that soon. I sure hope it is full articulation. It will suck if it isn't.

  17. Hahahaha, yes, good idea, focus on the positive of "Well, at least the guys can move like cheerleaders" LOL! I too am baffled and without explanation for that particular decision.

... and I want Morocco and UK too... my advice? Crack and get Morocco... she's just beautiful!

    1. Heather - The good thing is I have to use my $20 coupon each quarter, so getting Morocco is quite likely.

  18. Ha-ha...you say no more dolls like I say no more collecting items to paint or paint on. I'm going to say to you like my husband says to me..."yeah right! What's going to prevent you...blindness." lol The dolls are nice.

  19. Yei! I can go for the blond male instead of Carlisle! It's articulated and non-vampire XD

    1. V - Yes, and I did find out, the legs are articulated, too. I'm still on the fence because I really like Carlisle's outfit. Chances are I will be able to find him on clearance as time goes by.
