Baby Making Time

Well, I am continuing my baby making quest.  I put baby #1 with the squished face, together.  I started on baby #2.  I like the body of #2 but I need to redo his head.  I'm not quite happy with his facial features.

CAUTION:  THERE ARE ANATOMICALLY CORRECT DOLLS IN THIS POST.

Auntie Paulette is watching the babies for me.

Here's baby #1.  His legs and arms move, but his head does not.

He's a little cutie pie.  I think I will use him as the first baby for the Burkes.

This is baby #2.  His body is a little more detailed than baby #1.

His head is not attached.  I need to redo it.  It's a little too big for this body.  I still have to add hair and a little paint to the face of both dolls.

So Kendra can feel free to go into labor any time.....after her baby shower.  We will be ready for her.

  5. Auntie Paulette better watch out. Now that you are on this baby-making streak she might catch the baby fever! :-)

  6. Your sculpting ability is amazing. They are very cute. I don't think the head on the second one needs to be much smaller as babies are usually born with large heads. One of the challenges of making clothes for young babies is making the neck opening large enough to go over their heads and yet not be too open around their necks.

    1. Carrickters - Thanks. Yes, I do remember some really big headed babies. I just want to make the crown a little smaller.

    1. Taylor - The jury is still out on whether Kendra is having twins. Right now I am just sculpting a few babies to get one that I really like. The first baby is the perfect size for a newborn. Then I thought I would switch babies after awhile to show that the baby had grown a bit. Still working out the details.

    1. Roville - Thanks! I always wanted a maternity ward. I think I can have one now. It may be filled with my rejected baby sculpts, but at least it will be there. LOL.

  9. They're coming along really great... I am crud at sculpting... CRUD!

I think, actually, that making a maternity ward of the rejected sculpts would be an awesome idea, since you would only focus in on one or two babies anyways, the rest will just be figures in swaddling! Excellent idea!

    1. Heather - Thanks! I'm sure your sculpting isn't as bad as you make it out to be. I don't think I'll be swaddling the maternity ward babies. Their bodies will probably be the best thing on them. Wouldn't want to hide those. LOL.

  10. Wow!! Baby 1 is great, but 2 is even greater! It has a very detailed body, and I don't think his head is too big, I find his face very sweet! Wonderful job!

    1. Grandmommy - Thanks. You know how it is. You get one thing just like you like it and mess up something else in the process. There is always an ugly state when sculpting. Getting beyond that stage is the hardest part.

    2. Me too, usually when I see an anatomically correct naked doll in a thrift store i usually go wide eyed and try to put something in front of it. lol

  15. Wow you are very skilled, I might try this when i buy some polymer clay. I also love the detail you have put in baby 2. Can't wait for Kendra to go into labour hehe ;)

  16. Saw anatomically-correct baby doll, screamed, fainted.

Time passed. Smelling salts waved under my nose. Get off the floor and look at the screen again.

Scream again at the sight of anatomically-correct baby doll. Faint again.

Playscale dolls gather around - they aim the smelling salts under my nose. Bolt upright, helped somewhat by the 1:6 scale figures around me. Three attempt to keep the smelling salts under my nose so that I can view the anatomically-correct baby doll without fainting.

No, I do not drink [alcoholic beverages] or take recreational drugs. I'm teasing ... the baby is adorable. I love how his little fists are balled up. Cuuuuute!

No offense taken on my part. Advanced silliness, yes. Thanks for sharing your ever-astounding creativity ;-D

    1. D7ana - I thoroughly enjoyed your show. LOL! I put that little blurb in for moms who read my blogs with their little girls. I hear from them regularly. I didn't want them to be caught off guard.

  17. Glad you had a laugh, Vanessa. I could not resist. I would say the Devil made me do it, but that wouldn't be fair to the Devil.

I think you were being thoughtful and considerate. I pop nude dolls up so often, I seldom think that anyone could find them offensive, but sometimes, I suppose people might. Sigh.

But your brown baby is adorable. Really cute and in exquisite detail.

I'm looking forward to Kendra's shower. Morristown has fun social events - even I like to "go" to them ;-)

    1. D7ana - I don't worry about the regular naked doll anymore. The first thing little girls do with their dolls is remove the clothes. So I don't cover up the photos of the naked dolls anymore. But a little girl seeing a boys male parts is a totally different story.

  18. So realistic I expect the aunt to be getting a face full of pee any minute. Doesn't she know that exposing that baby's business to air means an automatic squirt machine?

    Replies
    1. Muff - It was inevitable. The squirting happened right after I put the camera down. Poor Paulette. You would think she would know about these things.
