Residents Have Been Assigned

I feel like I am procrastinating, and I probably am.  When I started working on the basement, this morning, I got a great idea concerning the Victorian Houses.  Instead of putting them side-by-side, I decided to put them facing each other.  This allows me to have access to the front and the back of the house without the need to put the table in the middle of the floor.  It will also make for more interesting stories.  Then it became clear who the residents should be.  There will be two different sets of residents, as my dolls have to share houses.

William has pulled the car up and he's waiting for his wife, Camille.

There's Camille.  Looks like she has forgotten her sweater.  Hope she remembers before they leave.

"Good morning, Lauren.  No church today?"  (Camille)

"No.  We had my granddaughter all night, and she was up most of the night, fussing.  I think she's teething.  We'll make church next week."  (Lauren)

"Okay.  I hope it's not a long service today.  I have a ton of things to do this afternoon."  (Camille)
"It's going to be a very short service if you don't get in the car, because it will be over by the time we get there."  (William)

"Well, I better go.  If you get time, stop over this afternoon for tea."  (Camille)
"Will do."  (Lauren)

There's Lauren's husband, in case you were wondering.

So these are quick and dirty pictures (using only the overhead lights) to show my plans for these houses.  The brick wall and the grass are temporary.  I'm not sure how that front area will be decorated.  There are two other residents that will use these houses.  At this point I think it will be Doctor Tina, and The Jacksons, Jacquelyn and Samuel.

  6. You make me miss having a basement! I love them being across from each other. I understand what you mean my dolls sharing house, it going to be like that here is Dotsville. The real estate is so expensive.

    1. Brini - I'm getting more excited each day about this move. The one who is most excited about all these houses, is Sunni, our Realtor. She knows this means more house sales and more dolly money in her pockets.

  7. I always wanted to collect about six of those Victorian houses so my dolls could live in a historic neighborhood. It's nice to see your dolls live in a neighborly community.

    1. limbe dolls - That was a wonderful idea. I never thought I would have one, let alone, two. I love the look of them together. I never imagined Morristown would have a historic area.

    1. Georgia Girl - Putting the houses this way gives me a lot more room to play than I would if they were side by side. I was planning to keep all of the Barbie houses/structures, closed until I needed them for a story. But now these two will get to stay open and set up.

  11. I, too, love the way you've set up your neighborhood. Kinda reminds me of the Victorian Painted Ladies houses in San Francisco. If you have room, perhaps you could set up a little park close by where the kids can play, adults walk their dogs or just chill out on the grass.:-)

    1. Cindi - Someone on Flickr mentioned it looked like San Fran, too. I will have to research the VPL houses. I've been trying to figure out where to put a park in Morristown. We definitely need one with all the kids running around here.

    1. Kenya - Yeah, the brick wall doesn't make sense there, but it looked better than the plain painted wall. I'll make it nice and purdy once I get everything in place. My bf is headed over now to help with moving the large items.

  13. LOL! Your photos always manage to bring out some memory in me! This one time, when I was a kid, a nosy neighbor lady asked my mother if she was going to church because my mother would just make us kids go but she wouldn't. So the nosy lady is like, "Ohhh, the kids are all dressed in their Sunday best. And will YOU be going to church?" She said with this sly, snide face. My mother replied, "And will YOU be minding your own damn business?!" LOL, that woman's a firecracker, I tell ya.

Anywho, I quite like the idea of the houses facing one another as it's a different perspective you don't see a lot.

    1. Muff - Hilarious! The nerve of that neighbor. I don't blame your mom. I probably would have reacted the same way, but added a little something, something on the end that starts with b and ends with h.

  14. Great idea that of facing the houses! As you have shown in this post, they will give you more opportunities for making the characters interact, and more angles for your pics.
