2013 So In Style Baby Phat Dolls

Have you seen the 2013 So In Style Baby Phat dolls?  I haven't seen them in person, yet, but I love them!  They are articulated and they are wearing fabulous fashions.  There are four dolls spotted so far; Chandra, Kara, Grace, and Marisa.  Chandra, is the only one that looks like her original self.  The others have been tweaked, in my opinion, and look a little different.  Different is good.  No complaints from me about any of these dolls.  Maybe Mattel is listening.  I don't know what the retail price of these dolls are, but I will keep you posted.

The pictures below are not mine.  They are from an ebay seller.  So the least I can do is provide a link to his store.  No, he doesn't have any more of these dolls in stock.  I haven't been able to find them on-line anywhere else, yet.

Love this suit and Chandra's hair.  It will be nice to have another dark skinned, articulated, body option.

Kara has a completely different look to me.  I like it though.

I love this outfit!  I guess I will be buying another Grace doll.  (And another Kara doll and another Chandra doll.....darn it!)

Marisa has a different look, too.  Nice.

So there you have it.  Just when I thought I had the doll buying under control.  I do have to say thanks to Mattel.  Well done.

  1. How cute! I remember when I used to spend my money on Baby Phat clothes, and now all that money goes to dolls *ha ha*. I'm tempted to buy the Marisa, and hopefully Mattel/Target will remeber all the protest put up against their overpricing that happended with the Rockawear S.I.S!

    1. Verona - I've never owned a piece of Baby Phat. It will be nice to own a piece in doll clothing. That overpricing was all Target's doing. Mattel was not responsible for that. Their retail price was fine. The ebay seller sold them for $18 - $21, so the retail is probably in the $12 - $15 range.

  3. I saw them online for $11.99 but unfortunately they were sold out. So I suppose that is probably the retail, which is not bad for articulation and designer fashions.

  5. Wow, these dolls are really nice! I just bought the roller skating Kara set and the Tennis set too. Love the articulation. I was going to use the bodies, but the dolls are so nice, I decided to keep them intact. Will have to watch for these.

  11. I saw them on Flickr and I have gone to a few stores but they are no where in sight. All of them are must haves. I plan invest in a few of Chandra. Much cheaper than buying Alvin Ailey.

    1. Georgia Girl - I plan to get a few Chandras, too. I feel she will be possibly sell out the quickest. People have been waiting a long time for dark skinned articulated bodies.

    2. Georgia Girl - these Baby Phat dolls are better than the Alvin Ailey in that their feet look standard as opposed to the curved, en pointe form of the AA Barbie.

Thanks for sharing these photos, Vanessa ;-D. Just wish that they had Trichelle in the group. Sigh.

    1. Muff - Please don't wait for her to go on sale when you see her. She may not last long in the stores. There is a chance Mattel overproduced her and she will be readily available, but what are the odds. LOL!

  14. Awesome! No sideways glance from Chandra...she will definitely be bought. I like Kara's face, she looks fierce. Grace looks the same to me but Marisa looks a little different and tanner. If they do bring Trichelle back, I hope she's with a fro. :)

    Thanks for posting.

    1. Tracy - I just noticed no sideways glance from Chandra! That is awesome. I repainted mine, so I had totally forgotten about that. Something about Grace's mouth seemed a little different, but I was probably just so happy with her outfit. Trichelle with a fro. Now that would be nice. I have to give Mattel a hand clap for this new line.

    1. Chynadoll - LOL about the sideways eyes! Yes, these girls are fabulous. I can't wait to get mind hand on those clothes, and of course those bodies.

  16. I want them all too! LOL They're all beautiful. Maybe Mattel finally got the hint that we all like our dolls to be articulated so we can actually pose them! Now if they would only make more articulated (fully) male dolls. Are these sis dolls available on the market someplace? I couldn't find them on Amazon. Of course I haven't checked Walmart or Target yet either.

  17. I want this Chandra and this Marisa. Maybe the others, too, lol.

Wait, I always say that! Thanks for sharing.

@GeorgiaGirl - thanks for the Flickr mention.

  20. Congrats! I just purchased my new Chandra. I love her hair, her make up and that she isn't side glancing. I'm on the fence on the suit. I like Grace's outfit. I will need to see Cara's in person. I'm watch for who you put their clothing on! ;)

    1. Ms. Leo - Isn't she wonderful? Someone on facebook separated the jacket and skirt on her suit. That's what I want to do because that jacket will look really nice with other pieces. Cara's outfit is really cute. The sweater is separate. The shorts and top are one piece, but really cute.

  21. Oh my! These dolls are so cute. And I love the idea that they are dark-skinned dolls. It seems to give an impression that dark-skinned dolls also look great.

    1. jelly andrews - This is one of my favorite lines. Yes, it's always nice to see the dark-skinned dolls. I don't think there needs to be an impression that dark-skinned dolls look great. They are just as beautiful as all the other dolls.
