Rod and Danielle's Late Night Dinner

It's an unseasonably warm night in Morristown and Danielle is taking advantage of it.  She has fed the boys and put them down for the night.  She has prepared a nice salmon dinner with broccoli, rice, and some homemade biscuits.  A little white wine completes the meal.  She and Rod are having this fabulous dinner out on the patio.

"It looks and smells wonderful, honey."  (Rod)
"Thanks.  It's such a beautiful night, I thought dinner outside would be perfect."  (Danielle)

"Great idea.  I wonder what's going on with this weather?"  (Rod)
"Who knows? I wonder if it will stay this nice for Christmas?" (Danielle)

"Speaking of Christmas, did you get a chance to ask Melanie if Nicole can go with us to Orlando for Christmas?"  (Danielle)

"I'm meeting with her tomorrow to discuss it.  I thought it would be better than discussing it over the phone." (Rod)

"You look worried.  I really don't think she's going to have a problem with it."  (Rod)
"I hope you are right.  I don't think Nicole will forgive us if she doesn't get to go with us to Disney World."  (Danielle)

"We will deal with that tomorrow.  Right now we are going to enjoy our dinner."  (Rod)

Rod reaches for one of Danielle's homemade biscuits.
"I love when you make biscuits."  (Rod)
"Oops I left the butter on the counter."  (Danielle)
"That's okay.  They are fine just like this."  (Rod)

Rod and Danielle continue eating and conversing.

This is a good time to show the latest thrift store find from my mom.
It is a wooden table with two chairs.

It has a leaf in the middle for table extension.

This smaller size is the perfect card playing table.

This set was less than $2.  Yay mom!

Here is a picture of the table smaller.

All the dishes shown in the post will be listed in my Etsy store by tomorrow morning.
Salmon with broccoli and rice.

Homemade biscuits, golden on the top and...

...brown on the bottom.  They are loose for maximum play.

Not everyone likes salmon, so we also have meatloaf with peas, and mashed potatoes with gravy.

  1. Mmmm Mm! That sure looks tasty! I'm going to call Rod and his brother the shirtless crew! I see they both go shirtless around the house. Your mom did well on the table...go mom! The biscuit looked too tasty. Rod should have told her he could dip the biscuit on her because she was so sweet to make them. Those "player" lines have to get some work even if they are married!

    1. Ms. Leo - Rod was flexing his muscles for his wife. LOL! Rod has never given her the 'player' lines. He's just not that guy. There are a few walking around Morristown, though.

  2. Amazing dining set! I would think that at this point, Rod would be a little more secure about what he thinks Melaine will and will not allow. I guess some things never change, eh?

    1. Verona - I've been divorced from my ex for 12 years and I am still not secure in what he will say or do. Exes can be sweet or volatile. You never know. It's only been 4 months since the wedding. That's not a lot of time for a contentious ex. Let's hope for the best.

  5. My favorite couple! I always look at the pictures first so I totally thought that you made that table set until I read the post. Your mom has a good eye!

    1. Muff - I love the way the table is made. I may consider making a full set of chairs for it in 2013.

  6. The table and chairs are fabulous. Do you think they were originally designed as doll furniture or did they have some other purpose?

    1. limbe dolls - Yes, I do think they were originally doll furniture. At first I thought it was too big for Barbie, just looking at it. Turns out it is the perfect size.

  8. Wow everything looks delicious. I love Danielle's face. She always has such sincere looks - yet the time she was mad a Rod she totally pulled that off too. Nice table!

    1. Kenya - Thanks. Isn't it crazy how the dolls look like they have different expressions at times. If I get time, I may make a few tables like that in different woods.

  9. That table was a great find, Barbie size yet fully working. Your food looks delicious too and very realistic (although for me a 'biscuit' is what you call a 'cookie'). Rod and Danielle still look happy

    1. Carrickters - Thanks. So what do you guys call the bread that we call a biscuit? I always enjoy my international lessons from you. Keep them coming.

    2. I thoughtm you would ask that. I thought long and hard about it as we don't really have an equivalent. If we eat bread with a meal, it is usually a soft dinner roll. I think the nearest equivalent would be what we call a muffin or more specifically an english muffin. (We have american muffins too - which are more like cake.)
