Wheels at the Thrift Store

Here is the post I promised you about my latest thrift store finds.  I tried very hard not to go into this store.  Don't get me wrong, I love finding doll stuff I can use, but there comes a point when you just want to use the stuff you have before adding other stuff.  I am at that point.  But, as luck would have it, I had to go inside this thrift store.  Of course they had lots of stuff.  If I had been looking for things, I wouldn't have found them.  Everything is still in the garage waiting to be cleaned.

Danielle has this car in yellow.  I don't know which families will share this red one.

Cute little flower or vegetable cart.

This dune buggy is missing a steering wheel, but we will make do.

I was headed to the register and then I saw this.  Can you hear the harps playing?  I heard harps when I saw it. Granted it is Bratz, so not quite the right height, but for $2.42, we are going to make it work.

It needs major cleanup.  This piece definitely has the cooties, as Roville referred to in one of her posts.

Found this cute miniature garden bench.  I may use this to make one Barbie sized.

Saw this cute "Oh Jenny" house and had to have it.

I had never heard of Oh Jenny, but this little structure was super cute.  I don't know what scale it is.  It's smaller than 1:12.  Maybe it's 1:24.

Here is an Oh Jenny commercial.

  4. You, Ms. Leo and Muff are good at thrifting! Love the car, vegetable/flower stand and the Bratz mobile. Judging from the photo, it looks like the teens you have on Liv bodies may work ok scale wise. I went to my local thrift last week (it's not a very good one) but I lucked out with two holiday Barbies (AA and Caucasian) and a brand new Liv that was the perfect match for the Caucasian holiday Barbie. I'll have to post about it tonight.

Great finds Vanessa. You're inspiring me to seek out other stores. Oh, would you say the Amvets or Salvation Army are the best finds? Or, is it usually your random neighborhood stores?

  5. Ok, we are somehow thrift connected. LOL I bought the same VW and it is red. I had to have it. Even though I am more into 1:12, I have more Barbies. shruggin shoulders lol
My favorite is the wooden bench. Too cute!

  6. Very good haul! This is the best season for thrifting. People are getting rid of the old to make room for the new. I can't wait to see how you utilize them all.

  7. Great finds. Is the flower cart made out of wood or is it ceramic? And I can't wait to see the garden bench in Barbie size.

  8. Wonderful purchases, I would have bought all of them too! And yes, I can hear those harps many times... and that bratz van is so cool and so cheap I would have obeyed the sound with no doubt!

  9. the Jenny house would be a perfect dollhouse for Staci and Chelsea sized dolls- it looks to be possibly quarter scale in dollhouse scales, unless it is 1:24 which is half inch. quarter scale fits Barbie perfectly for resembling our 1:12 standard dollhouse scales.

I love the red car! I have three cars but the teenagers in Barbietown need more cars.Great haul!

  10. Congratulations on your finds! I especially like the Bratz vehicle even though the scale is a little small.

  11. Glad you all enjoyed my goodies.

Loretta - I'm headed back to have a taste of dinner.

Verona - I have to look that dune buggy up. I don't ever remember seeing it.

Alura - I think that cart would be great for selling vegetables at the farmers market.

Tracy - I haven't met a thrift store that I didn't like. You just have to go in and get a sense for their stock and their pricing. Of course great items can show up just about anywhere.

Grandmommy - Yes, the red car was a must have. Any car where the doors open are coming home with me.

Carrickters - The flower cart is made of wood.

Rossetti - A woman after my own heart. We must always heed the harps. That Bratz van was on the top shelf in another section. My eyes just happened to see it as I was leaving the toy section.

Lisa - I was thinking of using the Jenny house to represent a large miniature house in a museum, perhaps. I think it's too big for Staci to play with, but we will see.

limbe dolls - Just the color of that Bratz vehicle was enough for me to buy it. I love silver vehicles.

  12. Wow... these were some wonderful finds, Vanessa. The red VW with the functional doors and trunk and the Bratz van are my favorites.

The Oh Jenny house is cute and colorful. I look forward to seeing what you will do with it.

  14. DBG - I can always use more cars, especially since I'm starting to use them in the stories. I probably don't need to get that Fiat, now.

Maria - You hear the harps, too? The harps always tell me it's okay to buy. LOL.

  18. Wonderful finds, my favorite is the flower cart! I've never seen a doll size flower cart before, I wouldn't have been able to resist that either. The Bratz van is very cool too, how nice that it isn't pink! :)

    1. Miss Lola - I love that van too. At that time I didn't realize it was Bratz, but it wouldn't have made a difference. Especially at that price. It was coming with me.

  20. Every time someone does an awesome post of all the awesome things that they have found at the thrift store my first thought is, "Are you freaking kidding me?! Why, why do I never find stuff like this, ugh?!?"

But nope, I'm not jealous, not at all. I just have to become a more fiercer thrifter hunterer and maybe stop going to only the one store on my block. ^_^

    1. Muff - But you did get the mystery boxes. Remember? LOL!

This was me not trying to find thrift store stuff. It usually happens this way when you aren't looking. This thrift store was one I stopped by while on the outskirts of town. I had never been there before. I find my best items from the thrift stores I pass by on my way to some other place.

I got that entire haul for under $9.00. I did the Muff Happy Dance when I left.
