Even Darius Was Relaxing at the Pool

Prelude:  After all the Danielle and Melanie drama, I needed a relaxing story.  So I went back to the pool.  This dio was still up because I knew I wanted to do one more story before dismantling it.  At the time I shot the pictures, the sun was perfect.  I had a good ol' time.  After finishing the pictures, I went ahead and dismantled the dio.  Then I went to the computer to edit and post.  DRAMA ensued when I realized all that time I didn't have the camera card in the camera, so I had NOTHING!  So much for a relaxing story.  My old camera would never let me shoot without a camera card.  This new camera just lets you go on your merry way, just shooting up a storm.  My first, second and third thoughts were, "I'm not doing it over".  But Darius was in swim trunks.  They really should see that.  So I redid the dio and shot pictures, again.   The sun was no longer perfect.

My son, Tyler and his friend Dillon, are playing ball in the pool.

China and her daughter, Taylor are there just enjoying the water.

Of course my daughter, Alicia, is harassing her brother every chance she gets.

Darius has a couple of days off, so he and Nikki came with Kendra to the pool.  She really wanted to get out of the house.

China's sister, Sylvia and her baby, Sophie are hanging out, too.

Jason and Lynn have just arrived with baby Layla.

"So how's the water?"  (Sylvia)
"Cold, but it feels good."  (China)
"Mommy, I'm thirsty."  (Taylor)
"Hand me the water, and I will give you some."  (China)
"Did you forget the juice?" (Taylor)
There is whining in the background.  Baby Sophie is looking for some attention.

"Honey, her swim lessons start in two months.  I was thinking we should bring her to the pool at least once a week to get her used to the water."  (Lynn)

"What's wrong little mama?  You should be sleep by now.  Is it too hot?  Come on."  (Sylvia)

"MOM WATCH THIS."  (Tyler)
"Stop yelling.  I'm watching."  (me - Vanessa)
Alicia is quickly making her way to the ladder.  I jump into action to catch up with her.

"And where are you going, missy?"  (me-Vanessa)

"Are you sure you are ready for all that baby and toddler action, sis?"  (Darius)
"I am more than ready."  (Kendra)

"And when are you going to be ready?"  (Darius)
"Ready for what?!" Nikki
"Babies and toddlers."  (Darius)
"We already agreed that kids would not fit into our lifestyle." (Nikki)

"Well a guy can change his mind, can't he?"  (Darius)
"No.  A woman can change her mind, but a man does not have that right."  (Nikki)

The boys are taking a break from the pool.

"Mom, can Dillon and I play Xbox when we get home."  (Tyler)

"Dillon's mom made it perfectly clear that he is to come straight home after swimming."  (me-Vanessa)
"Can't you call her?"  (Tyler)

"DARIUS!"  (Nikki)
"Well, I'm waiting for an answer."  (Darius)
"These shoes cost $300 and they are not waterproof."  (Nikki)

"Wrong answer."  (Darius)
"Okay, okay.  I will reconsider our agreement.  Now put me down."  (Nikki)

"Do you really want me to put you down?"  (Darius)
"Yes, because I don't trust you around that water."  (Nikki)

"You can be so silly sometimes."  (Nikki)

"I just know how to negotiate and get what I want."  (Darius)

"Darling, that was not negotiating, that was blackmail."  (Nikki)
"It's the same difference.  We are just using different terms."  (Darius)

Jason and Layla are getting acclimated to the water.

"Honey, is it cold?"  (Lynn)

"Come in with us, and see."  (Jason)
"No, I can't get my hair wet.  I won't have time to do it before work tomorrow."  (Lynn)
"Your hair keeps you from doing so many fun things."  (Jason)
"I don't expect you to understand."  (Lynn)

  1. I would be so frustrated if I had to reshoot. But the shots came out beautifully regardless! I really want to go swimming now.

    1. Alura - It wouldn't have been as bad if I hadn't dismantled the dio. Who am I kidding? I would still have been pretty miffed.

  2. Gah, I'm sorry to hear it! But the photostory seems defentily worth it. I'm a little suprised that Darius wants children now, though.

    1. Verona - I think Darius seeing his sister, Kendra, pregnant is really doing something to him. I was sooooo surprised, too. Not planned on my part, so that's why I had to reshoot the pictures. I was like "they are never going to believe this."

  3. Great episode Vanessa! I'm glad you decided to retake the pics. I would gave hated to miss these shots. Darius knows how to get his way. Lol! The scene with Jason holding Layla (getting acclimated to the water) is my favorite shot.

    1. Georgia Girl - Darius can come here any time and get his way. [Sorry honey. He still doesn't compare to you. (smile)]

My new beau reads my blog and I'm likely to hear about that Darius comment.

I'm glad they are giving her swim lessons while she's a baby.

    1. jassica - Thanks! It's not that Nikki doesn't like kids. She and Darius have very busy lives with his businesses and her career. She's just not sure raising a child in that environment is best for anyone.

  6. I would have gone all mad with that camera problem. I can't believe this modern stuff does not tell you there isn't a card inside... and after removing the dio!! Thank you for re-doing it all againg, Darius was really a not-to-miss!!! (Babies...??? he's a cute!)

    1. Rossetti - The camera momentarily flashes 'no mem card on the screen, but I never look at the screen for this camera. Only the viewfinder. It should just stop working like my cheap camera. I had to redo because how often do we get to see Darius relaxing? Practically never.

  7. What a shame about your pictures. This has happened to me before, but my photos are stored in camera memory in the absence of a card. I can transfer those stored in memory from my camera to computer with a USB cord.

There was still enough sun for the nice retakes.

I enjoyed seeing Darius in his muscle shirt and swim trunks.

    1. DBG - There is a very small internal memory and considering this was my 3rd time doing this, I knew these pictures weren't there. This camera was a recent gift from a friend who had been using it for a few years. So there's no telling what's in the internal memory. The only thing he forgot to give me was the USB transfer cord. When I get it, my plan is never to remove the card again. I will just transfer the pictures directly from the camera.

I was hoping Darius would venture into the pool, but no such luck.

  8. OMG, that's terrible!!! I can't believe it would let you shoot without a card in! That's just poor planning on the camera makers part!!!

Thank you, though, for the reshoot, it totally is worth it to see Darius in swim trunks XD

I love all the pool side activity too!

  9. I love that I can log in every day and see something new from you and the good folks of Morristown! I'm glad you reshot too. This scene is so alive. I can hear the splashing and the kids hollering.

C'mon Nikki, you and Darius would make some beautiful babies!

    1. Vita Plastica - There is always something happening here, even we when aren't looking. Nikki is thinking of her perfect body at the moment. She will probably catch baby fever experiencing Kendra's pregnancy with her.

  10. Girl that was a teaser - that title and then Darius didn't even have his shirt off. Humph. I must once side with Nikki. I would have agreed to have a baby before my hair and $300 shoes were destroyed.

  12. I forget to put in the card very often, but I always look at the screen and always see the words "no memory card", so I don't even know if my camera allows me to make photos without a card inside. I also have an USB cord, but something is wrong with my camera now and the computer doesn't "see" it through the cord any more. It was already repaired once, but several months later the problem appeared again, so I just bought the card reader. But now I'm always afraid to leave the card at home accidentally, when I go somewhere to take pictures of my dolls. We in Moscow usually don't have backyards or something like that, so I need to go somewhere far from home to find a good and quiet place for this. It would be a bad surprise to come there and to find out, that the card is at home.
You are very patient, Vanessa. :) I'm not sure I would start from the beginning in such a situation. :) Though the story is worth it. I also like the idea of my dolls relaxing at the pool, but I don't have swimsuits for most of the dolls (especially the kids), no pool itself, no other stuff... As usually. lol. Though I have several nice beach chairs, which are all cell phone holders and not really the doll furniture. Most of them are too small for adult dolls, but kids like them. I think I'll show them in my blog one day...

    1. Dukasha - I would love to see pictures of your town posted on your blog one day. It's not to see countries through the eyes of natives instead of just seeing the touristy parts.

I am so passionate about these stories and these families, that I learned to be very patient. I hope I always remember the camera card moving forward, though, because I'm sure my patience will run very thin if that happens too often.

  15. Thanks for retaking the photos, Vanessa.

My favorite photos here are the one labelled "Jason and Lynn have just arrived with baby Layla." And the one before that showing Sylvia and her baby ... and the ones where people are in the pool. All the people who went in the pool, lol.

But that straw hat tilted on Jason's head is so cute.

Darius talking kids? Well, well. Guess I have to see how this all unfolds ;-)

    1. drupay - At the real estate office where I work in real life, there was a period where everyone was showing up pregnant. I was scared to go in the office for fear of it rubbing off. I am getting similar feelings here in Morristown. They better slow down. There are more than enough kids in Morristown already.

  19. Great episode. And the lighting still looked great. I wish I had your imagination. My dolls are shelf sitters, lol. And, Nikki...lol, the way her hand was positioned when she said "ready for what?"it's like she was about to lay down the facts lol

    1. Toni - As long as you enjoy your dolls, it's okay that they are shelf sitters. I still have some shelf sitters because I love looking at them. Playing the baby card when a woman isn't expecting it, can be quite the shock.

  20. Vanessa, you should be able to go into your Menu section and disable the camera from taking photos without a card if you haven't already done so. Mine is a Canon and that option is called, "Release shutter without card."

The good thing about shaving my head is that I never have to worry about getting my head wet, lol.

Dudes who want babies after saying they didn't make me very nervous. I know people change their minds and grow and reflect and whatnot, but kids are a huge thing to wobble on.

    1. Muff - Thanks for the camera info. I will definitely look for that. Wow, you shaved your head. I would love to see a picture. I never worry about my hair getting wet either. It's rarely in any kind of style. But that's the athlete in me.

What's worse is dudes (husbands)saying they don't want babies after saying they did. TRUST ME. This is so much worse. I get nervous when a person doesn't question the idea of having a child. I've wobbled many times over the years. Tis better to wobble before they get here, than after.
