Kendra's Day Out (Photostory)

It's early morning and Racquel is working alone at the boutique.  She is trying to put up a swimsuit display.  At the moment there is only one customer in the boutique.

"This is just not working.  I need to walk away and come back to it."  (Racquel to herself)

"How are you doing over here?  Can I help you find something?"  (Racquel)

"No.  I'm really just browsing."  (Customer)
"Okay.  Let me know if you need some help."  (Racquel)
Racquel turns and heads back to the bikini display.

"Hello.  Welcome to Ni'Chalets.  Can I help you find something?"  (Racquel)

"Do you sell maternity clothes?"  (Kendra)
"I'm sorry.  We do not.  Have you tried the Mommy and Me store on Clifton Drive?"  (Racquel)
"I did, but I was looking for something a little more fashionable."  (Kendra)

"I completely understand.  Are you shopping for yourself?"  (Racquel, making sure she doesn't make a bad assumption)
"Yes.  This is my first."  (Kendra)
:"Well, congratulations!  I have a little one, too, and I can't even remember my life before she came."  (Racquel)
"Thank you.  I'm looking forward to the arrival.  I guess I will just look at what you have and dream about the day I will be able to wear regular clothes again."  (Kendra)
Racquel goes back to her display and Kendra starts browsing.

"What are they called again?"  (Naisha)
"Jag Jeans."  (Shantavia)

"Hello ladies.  Welcome to Ni'Chalets."  (Racquel)
"Hello.  Do you carry white Jag Jeans?"  (Naisha)

"I am expecting a shipment next week.  I can take your information and call you when they arrive."  (Racquel)
"That's okay.  I'll just stop by the end of next week."  (Naisha)
"Okay.  Well take a look around and let me know if I can help."  (Racquel)

"Do you have a restroom I can use?"  (Kendra)
"Of course.  It's in the back, right next to the dressing rooms."  (Racquel)

"So what do you think of this red jacket?"  (Naisha)
"It's nice, but do you really need another red jacket?  You have three already." (Shantavia)
"I like red."  (Naisha)

"Thanks so much for your help."  (Kendra)

"You're welcome.  Good luck with everything.  Come back to see us sometime." (Racquel)

Kendra heads to her doctor's appointment.

She has arrived a little early even with the stop at McDonalds.

She is waiting for her husband and the doctor to arrive.  Nate, her husband, shows up first.

"Hey sweetheart.  Sorry I'm late.  How are you feeling?"  (Nate)
"Hi honey.  I'm a little early.  I'm feeling fine.  I'm just a little tired."  (Kendra)

"What are you doing with a milkshake?"  (Nate)
"The baby asked for one.  Besides, it's mostly milk.  How bad can it be?"  (Kendra)
"We agreed. No fast food during the pregnancy."  (Nate)

"I'm sorry if it seems like I am always coming down on you, but I just want you and the baby to be healthy."  (Nate)

"Hello, Dr. and Mrs. Burke.  How are we doing today?"  (Dr. Sheppard)
"Just fine.  I was getting my daily lecture from my husband."  (Kendra)
"Should I leave and come back?"  (Dr. Sheppard)

Dr. Sheppard directs Kendra to his exam table as he prepares for the exam.

"So how is the new mommy doing?  Anything new I need to know about?"  (Dr. Sheppard)
"Just the normal morning sickness and fatigue."  (Kendra)

"Does this hurt?"  (Dr. Sheppard)
"No.  Not really."  (Kendra)
"So are you getting enough rest and staying off your feet?"  (Dr. Sheppard)
"No!"  (Nate)

"You don't think she's resting enough?"  (Dr. Sheppard)
"She tosses and turns all night."  (Nate)

"When you don't rest, you put stress on the baby.  We have been able to avoid complete bed rest, but it is not off the table.  I'm going to fetch the ultrasound equipment and I will be right back."  (Dr. Sheppard)

Nate goes over to comfort his wife.  He can see she is worried.

"Honey, what are you doing?"  (Kendra)
"I just want to say hello to junior."  (Nate)

"Let's keep in mind it may be a little girl."  (Kendra)
"I will still call her junior." (Nate)

Dr. Sheppard returns with the ultrasound equipment and finishes the exam.  Nate takes the rest of the day off from the hospital and accompanies his wife home.  He wants to make sure she eats a healthy dinner and settles in for the night.

Kendra's Baby Bump
I just used a piece of polymer clay.  I didn't even have to mix the color,  It is straight out the package marked caramel.  It isn't baked or anything.  Since her belly will be growing over the months, this is a great way to have her realistically increase in size.  I may also add some thighs and butt along the way.

So you can see it's not a perfect color match and it doesn't have to be.  No one, except Nate and her doctor, will be seeing her belly naked.  Unless of course she decides to pose naked on  the cover of Vanity Fair.

  1. No offense about Kendra's belly, but I'd ask her to pass on the nude posing for Vanity Fair, ;-D

Love this visit. Love Kendra's going for a milkshake ... aw, come on, would it be that bad for the baby? I agree with Kendra about it being milk.

Love this diorama setting and thanks for the suggestion about Kendra's baby bump.

    1. D7ana - No offense taken. Although if the opportunity arose, I would make her and her baby bump look amazing. Dr./Husband Nate walks the line and sometimes wears his doctor hate a little more.

  2. I hope everything with Kendra is okay. Poor Nate, he's worrying so much! It's nice to see Ni Chalet's still running.

    1. Verona - So far so good with Kendra. Unfortunately she is one of the many pregnant woman who have difficult pregnancies. Ni'Chalet's may change locations, but it will always be here in some form.

  3. Very nice story! Great job on Kendra's belly. I unlike D7ana would love for her to grace the cover of Vanity fair. : D. Ni'Chalet's looks great!

    1. Georgia Girl - Thanks. Ni'Chalets needs a merchandising touch. Racquel may have to hire someone because she has so much on her plate, her creativity with merchandising is waning.

  4. Didn't Racquel think about the meternity clothes department in Ni'Chalet's? She wanted to have the kids clothes departmant there, but pregnant ladies also want to look fashionable.

    1. Dukasha - She did think about maternity clothes. (I was going to make and buy some. It's still on the project list.) Terrance, her husband, hasn't located a new space for her yet. If/when he does, I'm sure she will add that maternity department next to the kids department.

  5. Hi Van. It would be so cool if one of my princesses could come shop at your clothing store. It would also be cool if your store stocked some jewellery pieces made by famous doll jewellers. If only all of us doll bloggers lived in the same city. hahahaha.

    1. Duke of Swann - Can you imagine if more of us lived closer together? I think I would open up a separate jewelry store though. By the way, where do you sell your jewelry?

  6. Maybe Racquel could have a combined children/maternity department in her store because Kendra is right - pregnant women want to look fashionable too. The polymer clay for a 'baby bump' is a great idea and gives her a very realistic silhouette.

    1. Carrickters - I'm sure Racquel's brain is turning and she will use this encounter with Kendra as ammunition to push Terrance into finding that new space.

  7. Poor Kendra, it must be difficult to be pregnant and find fashionable clothes at the same time. It may be a good new market for the boutique. You had a very good idea with the belly, though there is colour difference, in the pics at the doctor's you wouldn't tell.

    1. Rossetti - Kendra will definitely feel the pain as her belly grows bigger. Right now she is still able to squeeze into some of her regular clothes. But if she isn't careful, all she will need is a big nightgown if she is put on complete bed rest.

  8. I like Kendra's baby bump. Now we will be able to follow along with her pregnancy. Can't wait for the baby shower!

    1. limbe dolls - Thanks. I am looking forward to doing more stories with her, Nate, and brother Darius. The baby shower will be a lot of fun to do! I wonder if Nikki or her aunt, Mrs. Langford, will be handling the details?

  9. Good story! I think I was laughing at wrong places though. Van, give the girl a break! Please don't add thighs and butt along the way! What plastic has to do for our entertainment! LOL! I have the body of the Happy Family Mom that comes with the attachable belly. I put the body without the belly on another doll that had and older body style. With all the reboding I've done lately I'm going to have to try to remember which body it was. You know even the Mattel maternity clothing wasn't stylish...more like tired! Moms to be have it hard! Please don't put her in the lowrise pants and the short tops. Who started that style for moms?

Do the men in this story have MyScene Hands or is it just the way it is shot that make their hands look large?

I like the way you kept the doctors office simple. It allow you to focus on the story. Great job!

    1. Ms. Leo - We want this pregnancy to be realistic. I know some women are able to keep all their weight in their belly, but not most. I have the Happy Family belly, too. It's too big to use at the moment. It's more the 9 month size. But I may still do the polymer clay even when she gets really big, so I can do stories with her belly showing. The AA belly is a little light for her. Rest assured, she is not the lowrise pants and short top kind of momma.

Both those men are on MySceen bodies. "My what big hands you have!"

  10. Going shopping (for clothes) is the worst. I'd rather own a store than shop in one. I like how neat and tidy the store is.

As baby bumps go, that is very neato too.

    1. Muff - I hate clothes and shoes shopping, too. Unfortunately it's time to go again. It's been a long time. She needs to get that summer display up quick. It will be too late pretty soon.
