My Coolest Diorama Find In a Long Time!

My brother and his wife are in town visiting.  My brother is a shopaholic, who can't pass a Marshall's without salivating.  So yesterday we ventured inside one of the many Marshall's in the area.  They looked at clothes and I went to the household section.  I saw the coolest thing that would be perfect for dios.

Here it is!  It has a beautiful bowl with three bottles of wine or bubbly and ice.  What is it, you ask?

It's a bottle stopper.  How cool is that?

Here it is out of the box.  It was only $3.99.

I also picked up these matching urns for $2.99 a piece.  We are likely to see these at the reception.

  5. Very cool! And I'm jealous because that's something I could actually use ;-) I need to take a tour in Marshall's as much as I can't stand drifting in a store.

  6. Great finds Vanessa! I have something similar to the bottle top, but can't seem to figure out how to remove the stopper part. Do you plan to remove it? If so, how?

  7. It's funny, but I also have found something like that just a couple of days ago. It was also a bowl or something like that with three bottles of wine and ice in it. It was a refrigerator decoration (a thing with a magnet, not sure how you usually call them in English). Btw I remember that I gave you a link to the thread with "non-doll things for dolls" on our Russian doll collectors forum some time ago. There are many interesting finds there. People show new things almost every day.

  9. I'm going to find that stopper and then I'm going to introduce it to my dremel!

I bet sales clerks wonder why every once in a while a whole bunch of people will come in and clean them out of the simplest little tchotchkes.

  14. So cool! I saw something like this in a gift shop from cannes, France. They were fridge magnets but, for some stupid reason, I didn't pick up any. :( Buhu...

  15. Priya - I couldn't believe how perfect it was. The ice is amazing. Looks so real.

Sergio - Marshalls, Ross, and TJMaxx are the best places for these items.

Loretta - I can only see in doll scale when I go to stores. That's why I haven't bought myself anything in a long time.

Verona and D7ana - I still haven't figured out if the champagne will show up at the reception... Ooo ooo, I just got a visual of the how the champagne will appear at the wedding reception.

Kenya - I am with you on the shopping thingy. But, I am great at popping into a store, going straight to the sections I need, scouring for items I can use for the dolls, and getting out quickly.

Georgia Girl - Until I can detach the bottom, I will just put a hole in the tabletop (made of foam core, cardboard, or wood) and just work around the stopper part.

Dukasha - I guess we were on the same wavelength. I have found the coolest magnet items over the years. I really need to visit one of those mall kitchen stores with all the magnets to see what I can find. Do you still have that link? I can't remember which site you are referring to.

DBG, limbe dolls, and Rossetti - I love those items that I can use over and over in different settings.

Muff - It may take a blow torch. Do you have a dremel attachment that cuts through glass? I am impressed that you know how to spell "chot skis". LOL!

Chynadoll - Today I start building the reception hall. Sometimes while taking a dio break, I find some great things for the upcoming dio. Procrastination works sometimes.

Duke of Swann - I can imagine you can find some great royal type items in those stores. Glad to see you are back.

Vita Plastica - That's why I stay out of those stores because I would be broker than broke. I don't think I have ever gone in the 3 amigos and not bought something.

acrist9 - The bottle stopper was at Marshalls in the kitchen aisle.

Ada - Don't you hate when you see something, decide not to get it, then regret it forever? That is the worse feeling.

    1. Pffft, glass schmlas. I aint scared. If my dremel wont do it I'll figure out some kind of way. I picked one up and I'll make the attempt this weekend to cut the stopper off.

Also, they come in different versions! Mine only has 2 bottles and the bowl shape is different. If I pass by another Marshalls I'll go in and see if they have another version.

    2. Muff - I know you will find a way. Glad to hear they have different versions. I think I will get in my car and check out the one down the street from me.

If youbought it is that the size is right for the Barbies. Thank you for showing it. I hopeyou'll have a happy Mother's Day and your mother loves the gift that you did. Keep in touch.

    1. Ms. Leo - Sometimes it's hard for me to tell when I am in Marshall's vs TJMaxx. Needless to say I have found wonderful 1/6 scale items at both, plus my favorite, Ross.
