It's Party Time!

I shot the reception video this morning.  Hope to have it up by tomorrow.  In the meantime, enjoy a few of the pictures.

The decorating team did a nice job.  The balloons are made from Easter eggs and I glued straws to the base after painting them black.  I then added a pink ribbon.

The appetizer table is on the left and the main course table is on the right.

There is a small makeshift bar with wine, champagne, and beer.

The kids will drink punch from the fountain.  I made this using some old instructions I had on file.  To make your own, here is a link to the instructions.  http://www.dolldivas.net/Dioramas/2007%20Dioramas/DD-diorama-WaterFountain.html

A closer look at the appetizers

A closer look at the main dishes.  Not too much is new here except the shrimp.  The turkey is resting on a bed of rice.

Meet Gene and Toni Burrough.  They do not live in Morristown.  I met Toni in 2006.  She was visiting a porcelain doll exhibit I had up at a local facility.  She explained that she was telling her life story using fashion dolls.  I went to see her dolls and the rest is history.  She and I are now best of friends.  She is the reason I started making doll furniture.  She was my only client to start, then I branched out to Ebay.   She is also my inspiration for telling my doll stories.  She has not done much with her dolls in the past 3 years, but you can see her old stories at www.mydollsstory.com.  All of the stories on her site are true.  This doll looks just like her, and the male doll resembles her husband.  She is wearing a Robert Best outfit, called Midnight Mischief. (Thanks for the info, Matty).

I love the brooch.  Sorry for the blurry picture.  For all of you looking for high class fashions, Jason Wu doll clothes are top of the line.  Dressmaker Details is another maker of fine clothes.  That link is just to one dealer.  There are other dealers and of course you can find them on Ebay.  A third choice would be Randall Craig RTW fashions.  There are many other options out there for high fashion clothes.  Don't feel limited by the kid fashions that Mattel has chosen to produce.

Toni would want me to show the shoes.

Toni and Gene will return to their own home after the video.  In the video she plays the role of Tina's (my psychiatrist) older sister.

  3. Looking forward the video, this pics are great, but I'm sure they are only the "appetizers" for the great dollie banquet you'll serve us.

  4. The food looks delectable. I am sure the kids will enjoy getting drinks from the fountain (how clever). The seating arrangement is nice and the guests, who look so well behaved now, are probably anxious to get their party on.

You have put a tremendous amount of work into the entire Rod and Danielle wedding production, which shows in each and every fine detail and added extra you have included.

    Great job!

    2. Hey, smidge got a call! You can get a call too! I agree with DBG, hours of detail put into every wedding post. And you did so many that we feel like we are following the story. You didn't rush it! I sure what you learned along the way will help you and show up in future storyline posts. It it has been a lesson for the rest of us too.

    3. Ms. Leo - I better be careful what I ask for. Smidge girl seems ultra busy. Thanks for your wonderful comments. I wanted to show the young girls as many steps in wedding planning as possible. It's been fun!

  8. I love this Vanessa! :D Your work is Amazing on this! I wouldn't have the patience to do this. I can't even handle group shots of dolls. LOL.

Ps. Toni's glorious fashion is actually by Robert Best for the Barbie Fashion Model collection, it's called Midnight Mischief. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3535/4043282190_04d293c1d7_z.jpg - I miss when the BFC line made separate boxed fashions.

    1. Matty - Thanks! Trust me, I am not fond of working with all these dolls at the same time, but somehow I keep doing it.

Thanks for clearing up the fashion. The owner told me Jason Wu. I still have one of the BFC outfits boxed. They were fabulous. Did you see Robert Best on Project Runway a few years ago? What a sweetheart.

  11. I am very happy to see Toni Burroughs at the reception. I am a very big fan of Toni's stories. They are very inspiring and have shown me how I can use my dolls and doll stories to deal with things I have experienced. Please tell her how much she is appreciated for lighting the way.

    1. limbe dolls - Toni will be very happy to hear that. I will relay that message later today. It took her forever to retrieve her dolls, but I am happy that she was able to attend. She will be happy to see that YouTube selected the picture of her and Gene as the cover photo.

  12. Hello from Spain: I love the dishes. Did you bought or did you? I can not find in any store dishes for my Barbies. I love the picture with the detail of the shoes. They look like a Chanel design. She is super smart. I also like the decorationswith flowers and the variety of bottles. The picture on the wall with hearts is lovely too. This reception has wonderful details. Keep in touch.
