"If I Knew Then What I Know Now, I Would Have..." Part 2

This is the second post of "If I knew then what I know now, I would have...."  I know I said once a month, but I figured it's been a little over two weeks and enough time has passed.  There may be one only one more post, so I won't limit you to just one.

If I knew then what I know now, I would have ....
   - bought every Fashion Avenue outfit that was available.
   - bought every doll that had a darker skinned articulated body.
   - bought a lot more PowerTeam Action Figures.

What would you have done or not done?

  3. I would've definitely paid more attention to the boys toy aisle. I have some guys but I could always have used more guys.

I would've also bought more of those darker skinned articulated dolls.

I would've skipped a few buy 1 get 1 free sales at TRU. I would've concentrated on getting the dolls I really wanted :O)

  4. I would have connected to the on-line doll community two or three years earlier.

  5. I really only started buying dolls for my daughter but ended up rekindling my love of Fashion dolls. I then discovered flickr which created my doll buying insanity. So, I wish I would have:

    A) Discovered the doll blogs first

    B) Discovered flickr second

    C) Purchased more Power Team &
    other action figures with
    clothing.

    D) Purchased playsets, re-ment
    items, furniture and other
    accessories.

    E) Known about and purchased more
    Dynamite Girls (think I
    mentioned this before)

And basically...clothing, clothing, clothing...both men and women.

  6. ...I would have never thrown out any plastic doll furniture because I thought it was too unrealistic (um, spray paint!)

...I would have bought every Dynamite Girl when they were only $45, before the FR crowd got bored with theirs and drove the prices up.

...I would have gotten this obsessed with dolls BEFORE I had kids and they took all my money and time!

  7. -- I would have kept the playsets that I gave away to nieces and my friends daughters (ie Mattel doughnut shop, McDonald's etc) for birthdays.

-- I would not have missed out on the "few" Fashion Avenue outfits that I did not like (Vanessa, I have the majority of them NRFB : )

-- I would have bought the FR dolls when they first came out as opposed to secondary market on the older ones.

  8. Thanks everyone for your comments.

Oops, I forgot one. I would have definitely bought the male Integrity Toys doll when they were sold at Walmart for $7. Was he named Darius then too? I think so. I was amazed how expensive that same face scult was once IT became more popular.

  9. I would have never bought a blonde Barbie new! The blonde Barbies always turn up in the thrift store.

Would have never sold articualtion bodies to someone who was reselling them. What was I thinking?

Would have purchase the all the Fashion Ave outfits that turned up in the dollar store. I went back a week later and they all were gone!

Would have purchase funiture when I saw it in the thrift stores. In the beginning I was only looking for dolls.

I would have stocked up when Kay Bee and other toy store were going out of business.

Would have purchased even more male dolls than I did.

    Would have discovered blogs sooner.

  12. Hi. I'm still catching up on your blogs so my comment's a few months late, but I too wish I had bought more fashion avenue clothing. I started collecting fashion dolls and clothing in 2003. Then I stopped from 2004 through September 2011. So I have a lot of catching up to do!I wish I had continued to collect all these years.I had no idea that there were so many doll collectors, conventions, and shows. The internet and blogs like yours have opened up a whole new world for me! Thank You!

  13. veda - Wow, you missed some great stuff from 2004 to 2011. I did too. It's so disheartening to pay secondary prices on items I just took for granted would always be there. I operate totally different now. If I see it and like it, I buy it. Glad you are back to enjoying your dolls!

  14. Thank you! I was reading one of your posts recently and it talked about how reading doll blogs has cost you lots of money. Well, I have to tell you that between your doll stories and flicker, I'm in the same boat! Having a blast! I recently bought uptown barbie due to her joining Morristown. She's so beautiful but I had passed on her until I saw her in your posts as Tina! Now I'm rethinking That's So Raven as well. We'll see! :)

  15. veda - I guess I better do some Raven and Ian stories soon. I have one planned soon. I just have so many.
