Daddy's Home!

It was an interesting morning as I attempted to give some of my new doll heads bodies.  It was a very trying experience.  I was trying to use bodies that I had on hand until I get new bodies.  The problem with some of the action figure bodies is the height.  Some of the bodies are shorter than the Barbie bodies.  Spending $20 - $50 on a body that turns out to be shorter is not something I want to do.  So I may have to get real creative to get what I want.

Racquel's husband has finally arrived in town and we are all thrilled.  What a hunk!  Racquel may have some problems keeping the single ladies in check.  Where's Halle?  Has anyone seen her lately?  Maybe she skipped town.   That could be a good thing.

Here he is in all his glory.  I tried him on several bodies.  None of which really worked.  The body that his head actually fit made him shorter than Racquel.  He is currently on Darius' body, which he will not be keeping.  His head doesn't fit this body.  I have it rigged so that it works.  If I can find an Integrity body that is not so expensive, I will creatively alter the body and/or the head to make this body work.  It is a great height for him.  For now, he and Darius will share this body.  At some point they will need to be in the same scene together.  He will need his own body by then.

These are my new dolls.  The gentleman on the left is the action figure I introduced you to a week ago.  He is really nice looking.  Forgive me for having him in that awkward pose.  He didn't make a great dad for Leslie.  I haven't figured out what role he will play yet. I really like him, but there are a couple of downsides.  First of all, his head is a tad small.  Secondly, his feet and shoes are one and the same.  Sort of like Bratz doll.  This is kind of odd for action figures.

His feet are incredibly big.  Good thing they are nice shoes since they aren't removable.

I love this face.  I took a chance on buying her head.  I don't like the female action figure bodies, so I wasn't sure what I would do with her.  She is on a LIV body, but I had to cut away parts of her neck in order to make it work.  It turned out really well!  Now I have an Asian teenager.  I love Momoko dolls, but they are not in my budget.  This is my substitute for the Momoko doll.  She is about 18 years old.

Last, but not least. is Grandpa.  This is Leslie's father.  His body is temporary too.  I just had to use something until I can get a body that works better.  I am really excited to incorporate grandparents into the stories.

  1. I love it! There are not enough older people in doll world. I like your new three. They are a serious bunch! I really love Grandpa. He reminds me a lot of my Great Uncle, Tonton Jean. His breath always smells like wine and he always wants a kiss. Ew.

  5. Dani - You are right! That doll does resemble your Great Uncle TonTon Jean. Nothing like having grandparents around.

dbg - This will definitely be a learning experience.

william - Ethnic action figure bodies are harder to come by and the majority of them are shorter. I may have to step outside of that arena.

  6. I like all three of your new people. Don't recognize them -oh, that stings to not know, sigh - but they are cute.

Hope you find permanent new bodies for your new guys.

  7. Great new characters! Raquel's husband's face mold is just incredible. What's great about seeing him on your set is your lighting, he's even more handsome than I've seen on other blogs.

@ Dani, WOW...Leslie's father does look like your great uncle. That's a trip. :)

  8. The Queen of the Thrift Store is not able to find any articulated bodies at this time. Very hard to find. Not very lucky in finding them. But tomorrow is another day, flea market, thrift store and city-wide garage sales.

  9. Great new characters. You know I like the older dolls so, you know I like grandpa!

Racheal husband (Terrence Howard look alike) is the second version of the action figure. The first just has the mustache. It sold out quick too! Oh height, is he taller than the new Bascis? Or is she posed to look shorter?

Dani, I think a had and unlce like that too! He always wanted to dance and thought he was the best dancer.

  10. D7ana - There are so many action figures I guess it's hard to know them all.

Tracy - As Ms. Leo stated, there are 2 versions. The first one has a moustache and a goatee and hair right under his lip. They are both pretty hot.

Frannie - I have my fair share of articulated men. The action figures are a different animal all together.

Ms. Leo - He is as tall as he appears. He is on an Integrity body and those guys are really tall.

  12. Christina - I tried pairing him up with Halle and it just didn't work. She tends to look really good with other people's boyfriends and husbands. Poor thing.

  13. Back when I was a kid we used to have head changing parties. We thought that putting the heads of black dolls on white bodies and vice versa was hilarious. Looks like you had a grand old head changing party today. All the new characters are neat.

  14. Is the body with non-removable shoes the Hot Toys one? I heard some of their figures had such bodies, but their feet, which were also the shoes, could be easily taken out of the legs. The same is about normal Hot Toys bodies: their bare feet can be easily taken out and replaced with other Hot Toys feet, there are many of them on eBay. I'm not sure, but I think, that those shoes-feet can be replaced with normal feet also.

  15. limbe dolls - LOL. I can't really call it a party because I wasn't having that much fun! I don't think the dolls were either.

Dukasha - Yes, all of the action figures have replaceable feet, hands, neck pieces, etc. I would have just rathered this guy had regular feet with removable shoes because buying extra feet costs on average (with shipping) $15. I can't justify spending that on just feet. I have had new hands on my list for my PowerTeam guys for awhile now, and I still haven't made it happen. I know it will be a long time (close to never) before the new guy gets new feet. There is a remote chance that I will end up with another caucasian doll and they can share feet/shoes. It's not that bad. Like I said, at least he has really nice shoes.

  16. Poor guy. Not having normal feet just because they are too expensive must be very annoying for him. :) At least finding feet for him is possible. Maybe you could buy feet and some other Hot Toys figure from the same seller and save money on shipping, if you decide to buy any other Hot Toys guys one day. They are really good, I love them. I have 3 AA figures and wanted to buy the Asian one, but now only Asian head is available and I understand nothing in their body colors and those neck pieces and have no idea how to find the matching body for it.
I hate all that shoes-feet and gloves-hands, I just can't have a doll/figure with something like that, that's why I'm always ready to pay much and to do everything, so I could replace them. But all my guys with non-removable gloves are Power Team ones, and their hands are not sold separately. :( I bought an additional figure with normal hands for each of my caucasian figures and replaced the gloves, but AA figures are not sold here and are rare on eBay, so half of my AA PowerTeam guys still have gloves, which makes me really unhappy. Of course they can share hands with normal-handed figures, but I want every guy to have his own hands.
I also hate those Bratz and Bratz type bodies. I don't like Bratz dolls and don't want to buy them, but there are jointed Bratz bodies, which could be good for BFC dolls. I love BFC dolls, but they are absolutely not moveable. Unfortunately there are no jointed teen bodies, which could fit them. Bratz jointed bodies are rather good, but their feet are not, especially because BFC's own feet are jointed and very nice. It was so silly to make a doll with jointed feet and even without bendable knees...

  17. Dukasha - LOL! He has had those shoe/feet his whole life. He's used to them now. I am almost at the end of my doll buying. I don't foresee any more caucausian males in my future. Maybe one or two more AA males. I wasn't supposed to be buying anymore as of last year. So the end is really near. I have enough characters (too many, actually) for the rest of my stories, and I have to focus more on making money instead of spending it. I will only be buying clothes and accessories as needed. I also have two other big (money making)projects that I am working on, that don't require any doll buying. We must remember that I am self employed, so $15 is a lot for something that isn't necessary.

  18. OMG, Raquel's husband is CUTE! He looks like a dark skinned. Terence Howard.

  19. Sporadically Yours - Isn't he a doll? You know what I mean. His mold is considered the Terrence Howard mold. So your observation is spot on.

  20. Really?? I'm impressed with myself! ;-)
