Finally a Teenager!

I decided to create a teenager after recently exchanging comments at Niel's Doll Room.  I explained how I prefer infants and toddlers to older teenagers.  I do enjoy the 8 - 10 year olds in my stories too. I have a few older kids but they just haven't made their way into my stories yet.  Most of them even have families.

So here is the first teenager that will make an appearance in my stories. She is one of the ballet twins.  I temporarily put her on a Mary Kate body, until I can find something articulated.  She has such fair skin, that this body will be fine for the time being.

She is wearing a LIV shirt, Nascar Barbie jeans (which I almost couldn't get on her) and one Only Heart Club doll shoe.

My first thought is that she will be Lisa's niece; the daughter of her older brother, who lives out of town.  This way, little Miss Teenager can come to visit occassionally without me needing to create a new house.  You may get to meet her parents one day.  Her name is Brianne and she is 14 yrs old.  I decided to go with this name for two reasons.  First, my real brother's daughter's name is Brianna.  Secondly, Kaye, a blog reader suggested Brianne for one of my babies.  Given the storyline, I think Brianne is perfect for this little girl.  Thanks Kaye!

  1. I love it! I am sort of the opposite. I don't usually have kids in my stories but I have a growing number of teens. She's adorable! I'd love to create a high school or at least a classroom plus a hallway. All the good stuff happens in the hallways!

  2. Dani - Thanks! I am with you on that high school. I have about 5 lockers that I wanted to use for something similar. That's so far in the future.

Kaye - See I do listen to you guys sometimes. LOL.

Gabi-5mates - Thanks! They can be fun to dress.

  3. This is one of those dolls I decided to not buy. Back then, I never thought of rebodying. I thought the head is out of proportion compared to her original body. But now, looking at yours, I kinda regret my previous decision. :)

  4. Niel - I wasn't a rebodyer at the time, but I was so happy to see something different and I thought the twins were adorable. They have been sitting in a drawer for a number of years now waiting for me to play with them.

  5. She is just adorable!!! I have to ask, why just one shoe?

  6. April - That shoe just happened to be sitting right there. I think the match is with the other kid shoes and clothes. Finding it would have added more time to the quick photoshoot I was trying to do. I really just wanted to see if the shoes would fit.

  7. I always loved the twins. I liked their face and the hairstyle. It reminds me of what we wore at that age. I have been thinking of goin up in bodies not down. Now I have to think about that too. Great job. I have a HSM guy for sale on my dollpage if you need more teens. :)

  8. Ms. Leo - Thanks. I did check out your site. I like the HSM boy and girl, but I have enough teenagers, that I am not playing with. No need to add anymore to that pile.

  9. Oh, it's one of the young dancing princesses. I have the caucasian version, not sure about buying the AA girls. I like their faces and articulated arms, but legs are horrible. Really, Mattel never made a normal articulated teen body. HSM boys have jointed arms, but HSM girls don't. New Skipper and Stacie dolls have jointed legs in some versions, but not arms. Those princesses have jointed arms, but their legs... Grr. And there are no many non-Mattel articulated teens, so rebodying is also a problem. HSM or Skipper bodies are good, their legs are better, than princesses' ones, but I like princesses' arms. It would be nice to make a body with princesses' arms and Skipper jointed legs. I know some people do such things, but I can't.

  10. Dukasha - I don't know why Mattel hasn't made a good articulated teen body. The HSM guys with the articulated arms are nice, because their legs bend and they can sit just fine. That Skipper with the articulated legs and regular arms is just ridiculous. It's okay to do that for a Kelly doll. It's not okay when they do it for older kids and regular sized dolls (ie latest Harley Davidson female).

  11. Mattel seems to think that everybody will play only the way they tell us. New Skipper is sold with a skateboard, she can use it with her regular arms, so there is no reason to make jointed elbows. Though they used to make better bodies for the same purposes in previous years. There were Stacie dolls with a skateboard and with a bike and they both had jointed arms and legs. And old Harley Davidson Barbie dolls were also more articulated.

  12. Dukasha - Isn't it irritating? I went on their website a few weeks ago, trying to get some information on how to contact them. Doesn't do me any good just to vent here anymore. I need to take me complaints to them. I could only find an address. I plan to write an anonymous letter. I don't want them coming after me in retaliation for me voicing my concerns.

  13. late to the party, but have you tried matching her to any of the Liv dolls? think of the possibilities for her wardrobe! I guess it was my turn to do do a little enabling. ;-)

  14. queen - I tried the LIV body first. Her head is too small to fit on the LIV body. She has a really small neck. Not to mention, the LIV body made her a much bigger teenager I was trying to create. Thanks for the suggestion though. I have about 5 LIV bodies waiting patiently to be used. I like using them on the Asian women and on women who have GI Joe sized boyfriends/husbands. LOL!

    1. gigi- Thanks for commenting and for the info. All of the Bratz bodies I've seen don't have real feet and I don't want to deal with the shoe issue. I do like the articulated Bratz, though.
