The Taylor's New Ride

One of my best friends, who is also a doll collector, just moved back to Georgia, permanently.  I'm ultra excited!  Her collection of dolls and doll props are extensive.  She has about six of the New Bright remote controlled vehicles.  I forgot just how big these vehicles are.  She said I could share her vehicles and keep a few at my house.  Right now I have the PT Cruiser in my possession.  Yesterday, I purchased my own Hummer from Ebay.  I can't wait to show it to you guys.  For now, let's check out the PT Cruiser.

First of all this vehicle is huge.  It is at least 1.5 times the size of the Barbie PT Cruiser.

This is such a beautiful blue metallic.

Because of its size, it carries itself like an SUV to me.  Rod couldn't bring himself to buy the typical minivan.  This was a nice compromise.

Rod is inside.  He's headed to work.

Both the front doors open.  There are working seatbelts.

There's plenty of room in the back for the kids.  The back doors do not open, but it's easy to get the kids into the backseat.

The hood of the car opens.

And so does the trunk.  Plenty of room for groceries and suitcases.  This is probably where Julian rides when Nicole is with them.  Who knows, Nicole may ride back there with him.

As I mentioned, this is a remote control vehicle.  Not only does it move, but it also has working lights, and turn signals.  Too cool for school.

You know what it's like when you buy a new vehicle.  All of a sudden you start seeing that vehicle everywhere.  There is another family that purchased this very same vehicle.  We will get to see that family real soon.

  1. I've just seen this cars on another blog. I like how realistic they are. On some Barbie cars, the dolls don't even fit properly, so it's a little bit odd. I'll keep an eye on this cars!

    1. monstercrafts - Not all of these cars have doors that open, so make sure the pictures show open doors before considering buying any of them. They also come in a ton of sizes, so make sure they say 1:6 scale.

  2. I've never heard of these cars before. I will have to check these out.

    1. Champagne Star - Sometimes you will see them in the doll world, but they are mostly collected by car collectors. They can be pretty expensive.

  3. I never photograph my dolls out front, just on the back patio (no road). But now I'm tempted to get some of these cars. This one looks very nice. I'm off to see what others look like. Doubt I'll buy one, but I have to see them.

    1. Jaye - There are a couple of Hummers, but only one has doors that open. I have to make sure the dolls can comfortably fit into it. There is also a VW wagon, and an awesome pickup truck. There's an Escalade, too, but I don't think the doors open.

    1. Jorge - I get excited about these vehicles, too. They are really big, and take up a lot of space, so I am happy to share with my friend. It cuts down on my storage. I do have one of my own coming next week. It's even bigger than this one.

    2. Vanessa,Thank You!
The only problem I saw it's that the car seems to be not high enough to keep the doll head framed at the window.Am I wrong?I had this impression by the picture...anyway it's awesome!

    3. Jorge - I will have to try it with a Barbie to see if the head is framed better. You are right when it comes to the action figures.

    1. Brenova - I learned about them from my friend about 10 yrs ago. Her vehicles have been in storage for almost 10 years, so it's nice to see them again. It will be nice to have one of my own, too.

  7. I love scale cars but I have no space to keep them along with my other minis (that doesn't stop me from having some smaller scale models) but daaaaang I wish I could get some that my Barbies could fit inside. I do have a couple of GI Joe trucks they can ride around in, but they'd love something like this! Too cute!

    1. Erin - All of the smaller vehicles I have fit my Barbies, but it's nice to have access to the upscale models. I can't wait to show you guys the pickup truck. I don't have it in my possession yet, but I will.

  8. I remember seeing New Bright vehicles in Toys R Us years ago. I'd look at them and sigh. Someday ...

Good to see you with one. And I can't wait to see the Taylor family's road adventures!

    1. D7ana - I knew ToysRUs sold them, but I never saw them there. I hope New Bright comes out with some new 1/6 scale versions. But I really can't start stockpiling these cars. They take up way too much space.

    1. Muff - I had never seen the PT Cruiser. When she mentioned she had a PT Cruiser, I thought she was talking about the Mattel one that came out a few years back. Not even close. This car dwarfs my little red PT Cruiser.

  13. OMG!!! That car is AMAZING!!! I am now trying to imagine what it looks like around your house with all these marvelous dolls, doll home and now a dolly car! The issue I have with Barbie cars is the color pink! This car almost looks real!

    1. april - If you are imagining that it looks incredibly large, then you would be right. It dwarfs all the other cars. Did you miss out on the Mattel PT Cruiser that came out several years ago? It's a pretty cool car because it's red and the doors open. It's one of my favorite Mattel cars. I have quite a few Mattel cars that weren't pink. Danielle has the yellow VW beetle. The Happy Family car is blue and quite roomy. It came with two car seats. Stay tuned because I just got another New Bright vehicle that arrived yesterday. I haven't opened it yet because I have to take a picture of the box it came in first. When I saw the box, I just burst out laughing. Crazy big.

  14. EEEK!! I love the PTA Cruiser❤ I already have a good number of Barbie cars, but nothing like this. I've been looking at a 1/6 scale Hummer for a while, but couldn't rationalize my "need" for it. I'll just live vicariously through you guys for the time being. As usual,I love your work, and I hope you're feeling well these days!

    1. Lady Ed - I just posted a new post featuring the Hummer that arrived yesterday. It is hard to rationalize the price of some of these vehicles. Once you get one and realize how big they are, that helps curtail the desire to add to many to the collection.

I wish I could say that I was feeling wonderful, but it's been a tough couple of months. I know things will get better, I'm just patiently waiting for that day. Being able to play with these wonderful cars helps. Lol! Thanks for asking and thanks for stopping by.

  15. I love this PT Cruiser! You said they have a pickup truck too? I've been looking for one for the guys. Where would I find these cars? :-)

    1. Cindi - Yes there is a pickup truck. There is a company called New Bright but I'm not sure they are making this size vehicle with doors that open, anymore. They used to be sold in ToysRUs many years ago. Now the only place I know to get them is second hand on ebay or amazon. Several years ago, a fellow dolly person found the pickup truck and another vehicle, in new condition, from a local thrift store. My girlfriend has about 10 - 15 of these vehicles that she purchased over 10 yrs ago, when they were easily available. I discovered yesterday that she has a police wagon and a fire truck. I will show those sometime in the future. I did bring home another one of her vehicles and I can't wait to show it!

    1. Carrickters - The Hummer has been posted, along with one other vehicle. I don't know if she has the VW. I don't remember her mentioning it. She's not really a VW type of person, but I will check.
