Home Redesigns and a New Dress

Now that I have KidKraft homes, I'm not as fond of my two Mattel Victorian homes.  I like the second floors, but the first floors are hard to photograph.  I considered giving them away but found another purpose for them.  One home was completely turned into a doctor's office.  The top floor of the second home was turned into a school room for the kindergarteners.

The doctor's office is for adults and kids.  This was one layout.

The second layout is more compact, with a little hall leading from the elevator.

On the first floor, there is a waiting room.

To the right of the waiting room is the check in desk.  The wheelchair is there for anyone who may need assistance.

Here is the preliminary school room.  I still need to add a few touches.

Here is Dasia's second wrap dress.  These pictures don't do it justice.  It's very pretty in person.

The back view.  I think the back would look really good as the front panel too.

  1. Go Dasia! Rocking the fashion world.

Love how you have transformed the Barbie houses. I'd never have guessed that they were Barbie places. The photocopier machine and the fire extinguisher are my favorite details of this setting ;-)

  2. Hi Vanessa!
Dasia has the coolest clothes! She's quite the fashionista. I like what you did with the Barbie houses. It's always good to re-purpose things when you can. :-)

    1. Cindi - Thanks! She definitely loves clothes. I was so close to folding up these houses and sticking them in the corner. I've been spoiled by those KidKraft houses.

  3. The detail in both rooms is amazing. That copier looks just like the Ricoh at work. That dress Dasia is wearing is lovely. Reminds me of one I used to wear back in the 70's.

    1. Muff - Thanks! I have so many cool items that are just sitting here unused. I'm trying to use a lot more of them.

  6. Good idea to repurpose the houses. I think having the hallway on the other side of the exam room gives you another area for conversations in the hallway and the exam room still has plenty of space.

Where did you get the examination table? I need one.

    1. Jaye - Thanks. I agree about the hallway. I like the idea of coming up the elevator into a hall and not directly into the exam room.

That exam table is actually from an old MyScene salon set. There is a blue soaker tub that is can sit in and become a totally different piece. I use the table as a massage table, too. You can see that in this Halle and Diego post. http://vansdolltreasures.blogspot.com/2014/03/diegos-surprise-photostory.html

I will also add a picture to this post of all the items the set comes with. So make sure you take a look. It's a pretty big set that I found NRFB on ebay a few years ago for an awesome price. If you check regularly, you can usually find some decent prices on the My Scene playsets. They are some of the best ever offered.

    1. april - Thanks! I've gotten away from doing sets like I used to. Sometimes I miss it. So happy you love the dress! That means a lot coming from a top notch fashion designer like you.

  8. Love what you've done with the place! (I'm a bit envious! ;) but my dolls make do taking over my trailer) LOVE the copymachine and the wheelchair. The little tree, the glass table, the folders. All the tiny details make me so happy! Also Dasia's dress is beautiful! And you have reminded me that I need to pick up a classroom set eventually since mine went missing. :D

    1. Phyllis - Thanks! I feel like I've been neglecting the rest of my dolls lately. Nothing like a doctor's office to get a few more of them engaged in the stories.
