Chillin' on Saturday Morning (Photostory)

It's Saturday morning and Dasia is cooking a nice hot breakfast for her and her hubby.  This is the one day they get to just chill and enjoy breakfast together.  Dasia is still in her comfy robe (that I made her yesterday).

"Would you like pancakes or waffles?"  (Dasia)
"I'll have pancakes, please."  (Harold)
"Bacon or sausage?"  (Daisa)
"Let's switch it up.  I'll have the sausage today."  (Harold)

Dasia puts her coffee down and turns her attention to the stove.

"You know I took Corey to the barbershop yesterday."  (Dasia)
"Why did you have to do that?  He has a mom and a dad."  (Harold)
"I know, but I seem to be the only one who cares about him having a nice haircut."  (Dasia)
"Ohhh, so you just decided to take him to the barbershop?  No one asked you to do it??  (Haold)

"Exactly, but sometimes we grandmothers get carte blanche to do little things like that."  (Dasia)
"So you say."  (Harold)
"Besides, it's just hair.  It will grow back if they don't like it."  (Dasia)
Dasia again turns back to the stove and starts plating breakfast.

She serves Harold his pancakes, sausage, and eggs.  She's eating light this morning and just having a Belgian waffle.

"Honey, will you say grace?"  (Dasia)

"Grace."  (Harold)
"You aren't funny."  (Dasia)
"Sorry, I just couldn't resist."  (Harold)
Harold blesses the meal and they enjoy their morning together.

    1. Sylvania - Lol! I know you guys are tired of Danielle being pregnant. I'm in the process of getting my real deck replaced, which is why I am sewing so much for Dasia. Dasia is helping to pay the bills. As soon as the deck is started, I can focus on the other characters and stories.

    1. Brenova - Thanks! I really wish I was inspired to sew some clothes for me. She is even putting me to shame.

  3. Dasia's robe is nice. Light blue is a good color for her.

    1. DBG - Thanks. The blue does work well for her. She's probably going to stay in her robe for awhile and do a little reading. For a change she doesn't have to run out the house. She's resting up for the sale tomorrow. LOL!

  4. I really hope Dasia's son in law is nothing like my husband he'd have a fit if one of the grands took our son for a hair cut without his consent. I'd be royally ticked off as well IF we want his hair to stay curly or braided. Sometimes grandparents over step their bounds!

    1. AG Lanc - I feel you! I think Harold was trying to express a little of that to Dasia.

  5. Girl, one of the ladies at church was keeping her great grandson for two months and decided to get his hair cut without his mom's consent. Now the momma's not speaking to her. I know Pastor Camilla would never go that far, but I hope for Dasia's sake that no feelings were hurt. Looking forward to seeing what gets added to your store tomorrow.

    1. Jewell - Sorry but that is too funny. When you say, "keeping him for two months", was she just keeping him during the day, or was he in her care full time for two months? If she was just babysitting, then I think she was wrong. If it was full time care, then that's different.

    2. The mom lives out of state, so he was in her care full time. Hair grows back. It's not like she cut off a limb, but still the mom was pissed- lol

    3. Jewell - I guess the other question would be, did he come there with long hair or braids? If not, I would expect someone who had my child for 2 months to make sure his hair was taken care of. You wouldn't expect a little girl's hair not to be combed for 2 months.

  6. I thought when I read the last episode that the haircut was arranged by his parents and Dasia was just doing the running around for them. I'm not sure how they will feel about her making those sort of decisions - even if they don't say anything.

    1. Carrickters - I think I thought she was doing it on their behalf, too. I guess not. That is something my mom might do. First she would probably try to shame them into doing it themselves. I think Camille is the type of person who would say something if it hit a sore spot.

  7. I remember when my sister-in-law overstepped her bounds and encouraged my then 11 yr old stepdaughter to do something that I had told her she would have to wait for a couple of years. My sister-in-law had no problem making parental decisions on our behalf. It was most irritating and even though I addressed it with her, I knew my concerns went in one ear and out the other.

  8. This story is right on time. I was just speaking with a relative about her son's curly hair and how people keep making comments about her needing to braid it or since he just turned one, about getting his hair cut.

I told her she's the mother and not to let people pressure her into something she doesn't want to do for her son. Sometimes family members overstep their bounds, although they'd have a fit if someone did that same thing to them. SMH!

Dasia really needs to check herself. Harold is funny hinting that it wasn't her job.

    1. Janainah - Agreed. I guess somehow family thinks it's a reflection on them if a parent does something that they don't agree with. Beyonce got a lot of flack about Blue Ivy hair. Everyone was trying to shame her into doing what they thought should be done.

  9. This one time I asked my mom to look in on my dog, and against my specific instructions she let him have water, which meant he would have a full bladder for 2 hours until I returned home. When I got ticked off about it, she said, "Well, I know what you told me, but my grandpuppy was thirsty so I wanted him to have some water." According to her, she managed to raise three kids by herself and since I'm never going to give her any grandbabies she should be able to take care of her grandpuppy as she sees fit.

I never let her watch my dog again!

That is one fine looking breakfast - making me hungry.

    1. Muff - Lol. Your mother know she was wrong if you gave specific instructions. Moms always feel they know better. She could have given the dog a little water and not told you, if she was really worried about her grandpuppy. She had to go the extra step and let you know that she did it.

When I posted this little story, I had no idea it would garner so many comments about haircutting and grandparents. Just goes to show, you never know.
