Melanie Lashes Out (Photostory)

After Melanie gathered herself, she texted Rod and asked him to meet them at one of her friend's house.

Melanie is waiting in her car when Rod pulls into the driveway of  her friend's house.

"Hello.  Where's Nicole?"  (Rod)

"She's inside.  I wanted to speak to you for a few minutes."  (Melanie)
"Okay.  Go ahead."  (Rod)
"I'm not going to shout through car windows."  (Melanie)
Rod gets out of his car and gets into hers.

"So what's up?"  (Rod)
"So is it true, Danielle's pregnant?"  (Melanie)
Rod is totally caught off guard.  He was expecting a conversation about Nicole, not one about his pregnant wife.

"I take it from your silence that it is true.  You didn't think it was important for you to let me know this little bit of news?"  (Melanie)
"I wasn't aware that I needed to discuss me and my wife's affairs with you."  (Rod)

"We are raising a child together and I need to make sure our daughter is mentally and emotionally okay with you and your wife's affairs."  (Melanie)

"I had a talk with Nicole and she genuinely seems to be happy about having a new sibling."  (Rod)
"You mean half sibling."  (Melanie)
"I mean sibling!"  (Rod)

"I don't know what your problem is, but I'm getting real tired of this bullshit.  I am no longer your husband, and I don't have to discuss anything with you except Nicole.  It's not enough for you that I am a damn good father to our daughter.  You want my life to be as miserable as yours.  I refuse to give you that satisfaction."  (Rod)

"I'm taking Nicole to see a psychiatrist, to make sure she is okay with everything that is going on.  If the doctor indicates there's a problem, I will be filing for primary custody."  (Melanie)

"You are a piece of work.  You want our daughter thinking she needs a shrink because she's not hateful like her mother.  Goodbye Melanie."  (Rod)

 Back at the house...
After Rod left, Danielle went to sit in the newly wallpapered dining room.  She's trying to finalize some decorating decisions.

Over in the corner sits one of her wedding pictures.  She plans to frame it and hang it either in this room or above the fireplace.

This center room still needs to be wallpapered.  Right now it's the fireplace room.  Danielle is thinking about turning it into a library.

Danielle hears the doorbell, and then she hears keys in the door.  She's sure it's her mom with the boys.  They have been with granny the past couple of days while Rod painted and wallpapered.

Roberta and the boys enter into the kitchen.

"Your mom must be upstairs."  (Roberta)

"I can't wait for her to see what we made for her."  (Julian)
"I'm sure she's going to love it."  (Roberta)

Danielle does make her way downstairs.
"Hi mom."  (Danielle)

"Hi dear.  You look a little tired."  (Roberta)
"I've just been in full decorating mode."  (Danielle)

"Hello my darlings.  I missed you."  (Danielle)
"Look what we made you Mom.  A gingerbread house!"  (Julian)
"It's beautiful.  I'll take a look right after I get my hugs and kisses."  (Danielle)

Danielle kisses and hugs both boys.
"Now let's take a look at this gingerbread house."  (Danielle)

"It's beautiful!  Did you help grandma make the house?"  (Danielle)
"Yes.  I helped make the door, the tree, and the roof."  (Julian)
"I used to make gingerbread houses with mom when I was a little girl."  (Danielle)
"You were a little girl?"  (Julian)
"Yes, a long time ago."  (Danielle)

"And look at you with your gingerbread sweater on.  That is cute.  Where did you get that one?"  (Danielle)

"Christopher and Banks.  They were having a sale and free shipping.  I thought it was only fitting that I should own a gingerbread sweater.  That being my specialty and all."  (Roberta)

"It's perfect.  Let's go upstairs so I can show you how much we got done.  It's also warmer up there.  I had Rod start a fire before he left."  (Danielle)
"Where is Rod?"  (Roberta)
"He went to pick up Nicole.  They should be back soon."  (Danielle)

"Mommy, I thought we were going to eat the gingerbread house."  (Julian)
"Not yet.  Don't you want daddy and Nicole to see your beautiful work?"  (Danielle)
"Okay."  (Julian)

After Danielle shows Roberta all the changes, they sink down into the sofa to rest.  Julian has disappeared to the play room, and Jacob is drifting off to sleep.

"Mom, you wore my little soldier out.  I guess I should go put him down."  (Danielle)

Just then she hears the garage door open.
"Ooh, that sounds like my husband.  I'll just wait and let him put him down."  (Danielle)

  2. Rod put Melanie in her place...woot woot! He's right- she is a real piece of work- reminds me of somebody I know . If you ever need ideas for Melanie's antics, give me a call and I'll tell you some stories about my husband's ex and mother to his oldest daughter. BTW you put Danielle's name at the end of one of Melanie's statements. I'm sure Danielle wouldn't want to be associated with such a spiteful remark- lol

    1. Jewell - This Melanie is based on a real person I know, too. Except she's a lot worse than this Melanie. Sounds like we need to go have a drink and swap war stories. Lol! Thanks for catching my name mistake. I corrected it.

  3. I was excited to see this post up already as I couldn't wait for Melanie's conversation with Rod! I was very happy that Rod stood up to her and I agree 100% with what he said. Melanie is indeed a piece of work and she won't be happy unless everyone is as miserable as she is!

Can I say I absolutely love how Rod and Danielle's new house is turning out? The dining room is gorgeous and I absolutely love that fireplace! I need to get or make one like that! Of course, if I made it , it wouldn't turn out that good! I will have to look back at your posts, but I think I remember you talking about buying this -- it is a picture frame, right?

    1. Phyllis - Thanks. I think Melanie only wants Rod to be miserable. Maybe she thought that he would be alone and pining for her after she divorced him. She is that vain.

That fireplace is a double picture frame. I found it at the thrift store. I have seen it in a couple other doll stories, so maybe it's a common item. If I turn this room into a library, I will have to make them a smaller fireplace to fit in between the shelves.

  4. I was too anxious once I saw the title of this post! Melanie is a real piece of work!! I am so pleased with Rod for putting her in her place. Melanie is the one who needs therapy not Nicole. Great photo story!!!

The more you do to the house, the better it is looking! The colors you chose for the dining room is very nice!

    1. Georgia Girl - Thanks! I understand the anxiety. You never know what Melanie will do. She has been to therapy. I'm not sure what she needs. I would say time heals all wounds, but it hasn't for the real "Melanie", so I just don't know.

  5. Two fist bumps, two high fives, both thumbs up and a Hallelujah shout for Rod putting that miserable Melanie in her place. Thank goodness he has a good home to come to. If Nichole needs a shrink, it's because her mom drives everybody crazy!! Anywho, still loving everything that's been done in the house and the Gb house and sweater are adorable.

  6. How dare Melanie threatens to take Nicole away from Rod! He's more of a parent than she is. It will be funny if the therapist tells Melanie that she's the problem. Poor Nicole having to deal with her bitterness.
Danielle is doing a great job on the house! I might need to get a kidkraft house, does kidkraft have an offical website or do i need to shop from places like amazon or ebay? Also Julian and Jacob did a great job on the gingerbread. :)

    3. Leandra - This is a duplicate message. I just wanted to remove the last website tag (help keep away the spammers). Everything else is the same.

We all know Melanie doesn't want full custody, but she knows this is where Rod will be hurt the most. Melanie has already been seeing the therapist, and the therapist has already suggested that she needs to let go of all the anger.

KidKraft does have a website, but they don't sell the houses there. That is a good thing, because they would most likely sell them at retails. I go to their website, find the name of the house I like, then I google it to find out who has the best prices. The prices fluctuate all the time, so keep checking. Look for free shipping, too. It's usually available. Two of my five houses I had to pay minimal shipping, but the rest were free. I've bought from ebay (brand new), Amazon, and Zulily.

  7. Hello Vanessa! The house looks so beautiful! They did a great job! :) I like their new sofa and the little details Danielle and Rod is giving to make the home really cozy and unique!
    I like Granny's sweater also :)
Oh, and I hope Melanie will get something surprising for Christmas. Maybe a new man so she could stop pushing Rod because of his new life ;)

    1. Rosemary - Thanks! The house is coming along a lot quicker than I imagined. I wasn't even planning to cover the walls, but I'm glad I did.

I would love to say a new man will fix Melanie's problem, but the real "Melanie" got married and was still trying to cause problems. So a new man won't completely be the answer. It might calm her down a little bit.

  9. like Jewell, I have a million stories about the ex and stepdaughter and shrinks galore if you need pointers for the photostories, LOL. Fortunately, stepdaughter is 20 now and in the military but the ex won't let her grow up and is still a pain and still tries to drive a wedge between her dad and the kid. It usually ends up backfiring like it did with Melanie. Good for Rod! I just went through a somewhat stressful thanksgiving with this and that's why alot of dolly stuff has not been done for two weeks because of this drama. Holiday turned out ok and pleasant in the end. But I identify with the poor doll Rod! lol...This was a great story.

    1. Lisa - I'm so sorry you are still going through issues like this. It is so draining and unnecessary. This character is not based on my ex-husband, but on an ex-boyfriend I had a long term on/off relationship with over a 13 yr period. We got back together after she got married, but she was still trying to wreck havoc. The result was me having to go back on chemo after having a year off. I blamed all the drama and cut it off for good.

    2. I am so glad you put your health first and got out of that unhealthy situation. My hubcap(as I refer to him) and I have moved on but it is draining as the ex is married and has a 7 year old, but cannot let go of stepdaughter who is a grown woman and seeks to control her, and her relationship with dad. I think they are basically unhappy people.I have learned the only reaction is no reaction, the hard way. Your talent for photostories brings out this aspect in the dolls' characters and is very realistic and well done!

  13. I am so glad Rod invited Melanie out of his and Danielle's business. She needs to learn the meaning of divorce and understand her only involvement with her ex is raising their daughter. Beyond that, his family life has nothing to do with her.

I enjoyed the back home scenes and how you wove the gingerbread man sweater from Christopher and Banks into the story. Roberta wears the sweater well. Having taught the boys how to make a gingerbread man house was a nice touch.

    1. DBG - Melanie has definitely blurred the lines when it comes to Nicole business and family business. She is so concerned that Nicole is going to love Rod and Danielle more, that she is pushing her away. Children don't have limited love. The more wholesome love in a child's life, the better person they become.

The sweater idea was a last minute one. I didn't feel like going to the basement to get a top for Roberta. The 3 sweaters I bought were sitting there and voila. These are the best Christmas sweaters I have. They go on so easily and fit nicely.

    2. I agree, Vanessa. Melanie is doing more damage (as usual) than good. I hope she realizes this and stops the idle threats.

Of all the Christmas sweaters I have purchased, I have to agree, the C&Bs ones are the nicest. They are like real mini sweaters. The Michaels ones are too but they are a little large and appear to shed some of the fibers more than the C&Bs ones.

  14. Good for Rod! Nothing more sexy than a man with some backbone (IMO). Lol. I thought Melanie had a male friend she actually like has she run him off already?

How have you been lately? Did you have a good Thanksgiving?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. AG Lanc - I agree about the backbone. Melanie does have a friend but they haven't gotten serious. She backed off a bit when she noticed how much time he needed to spend with his teenage daughter. She's really looking for someone with grown kids, or no kids. She wants to be the center of attention.

I'm doing great. Thanks for asking. Thanksgiving was very quiet because that's what I wanted. How was yours?
