Morrison's Dolly Cafe

As I mentioned, I am getting back to making food and furniture for my Etsy shop.  I'm starting with new food and a new food concept, called Create-A-Plate.  With Create-A-Plate, a buyer will be able to build their own dinner, and breakfast.  For dinner, they will choose their meat and two sides.  For breakfast they will have choices like scrambled or fried eggs, bacon or sausage, etc.  I will also be offering appetizers like fried shrimp, quesadillas, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, wings, etc.   Bread options will also be available.  Below are a few examples.

Fried shrimp with cocktail sauce.

Another view

Chicken and waffle.  Will probably come with a side of syrup.

Create-A-Plate samples

Meat: Chicken parmesan
Sides:  Peas and corn-on-the-cob.

Meat: Fried chicken
Sides: Green beans and mac-n-cheese

Meat:  Meatloaf
Sides:  Mashed potatoes and gravy and carrots.

Meat:  Ribs
Sides:  Baked potato with sour cream and cabbage.

Other meat options:  Baked chicken, bar-b-que chicken, fish
Other sides:  Mixed vegetables, white rice, brown rice, potato salad

I'm still working on the menu.

I'm excited to finally get this project going.  It's an idea I had a couple years ago.

    1. Brini - Thanks. I'm great at coming up with ideas. Not so great at implementing them. I'm trying to change all that in this new year.

  3. The mix-and-match sales plan sounds solid. And I have to say that the shrimp and sauce is very convincingly realistic! Brilliant!

  7. This sounds like a great idea! Too many doll companies only make junk food for dolls so it's great to have a bigger variety of health food for the doll world.

    1. Muff - It's a good thing I don't have much of an appetite or I would have been in trouble the past couple of days. I did make a homemade waffle the other day. Just couldn't help myself. I may do it again for breakfast. And if I could make my way downtown to the Glady's Knight restaurant, I would be ordering chicken and waffles. And let's not talk about my favorite....fried shrimp. Well I guess I can now add myself to the list.

  10. I like shrimp stir-fried in rice or pasta or fried as you show it here. Old Joe and I are smacking our mouths over the fried shrimp. I'm thinking french fries would be a nice accompaniment; Joe says to just leave him a pile of fried shrimp and maybe some fried fish and fried green tomatoes. Slump ... I think we mentally ate ourselves full ;-D

  11. Ughhh, I miss sitting down and playing with my Barbie dolls like I did when I was a kid. This makes me want to plan a ladies' luncheon with my dollies (since they are all female dolls). These are beautiful, Vanessa!!!!

    3. Life is stopping me. U_U

I have my favorite dollies sitting on my nightstand and even one (My Scene Madison) on my bed. The others are in my bag but I take them out some days and brush their hair, change their clothes, and I may re-root a head or two. I even share pictures of them on my Facebook. I guess I consider that "playing" with them. It's just that I guess I get a lot of negative comments about loving my dolls from closed-minded people on Facebook and in real life. My family, of course, supports it and they are the ones who inspired me to love dolls. I also have two aunts and a cousin that love and collect dolls. I do remember that when my little cousins were in elementary school and I babysat them, that used to be an excuse for me to play with Barbies. LOL! Now they are teenagers and are scared to love their Barbies because of peer pressure. One of them even said that she wish she could still play with her Barbies.

But a lot of my peers (I am 28) have ridiculed me for having dolls in college and even outside of college. Most of them were probably just angry and bitter and they did not know how to embrace their inner child.

      Sorry for the rant. LOL!

    4. KenyaDoll - You are still in your 20's, so you are still affected by negativity of others. You will learn as you get older, particularly in your late 30's, to not care what others think about what you are doing. I hope you learn it even quicker, because you will have a more fulfilling life. Most people that don't collect dolls, know absolutely nothing about the thousands of adults who play with dolls. You, however, do know about the adult doll community. So you are not alone in your desire to play with dolls. Just keep that in mind. Life is too short not to do something you love.
