Black Denim

I get to cross another thing off the list!  Denim jeans for the kids.  I found a really small piece of black denim at a closeout sale several years ago.  I knew I wanted to make jeans for the kids.  Well consider it done.

Here Jacob is showing off his black jeans and Ciana is sporting her new black denim dress.

I took it a step further and made Jacob a matching jacket.  I may add some mock buttons.

Get it Jacob!

One more, because he's so cute and gangsta.

Yes, Julian got some jeans, too.  I actually made his first, and I didn't do the crotch quite right.  All the other jeans are done correctly.

I am still working on Julian's jacket.  It needs some work.  I may add pockets and buttons.  I may just make another one and shorten it.  He's just so skinny.

Tyler got a pair of black jeans, too.  He's not getting a jacket.

Weather Update:  We are experiencing a really bad ice storm.  I am praying that we don't lose power, but if you don't hear from me for a couple of days, you will now know why.  Stay safe and be warm!!!

  1. Omg, those came out really cute. I made the denim jacket Ms. Dotson is wearing while hanging out with Rita--from some left over jeans. I haven't even started sewing for my kids yet but you have inspired me to make a few items. The problem I am finding is fabric for my dolls, that my only setback. Jacob is really adorable. I hope we don't get to much of the bad weather here either but we are bracing for it.

    1. Brini - Thanks. You did a great job on Mrs. Dotson's jacket. I love the decorative stitching. I have enough fabric here to last 20 yrs. I have banned myself from buying any more fabric. We had some fabric outlets in the area, and I was addicted. Looking forward to seeing your kiddie clothes.

    1. Marta - Thanks. I love real kid clothes, so this was fun to do. The ice storm is worse than we thought, but so far we still have power.

  3. Your kiddie clothes are cute! I won't even try to make clothes for the little ones. Way too small. I have a hard enough time making clothes for the adults! LOL. We're getting tons of snow up here. Praying for the power to stay on. Take care and stay warm. :-)

    1. Cindi - This was a breeze after making clothes for Cameron. lol. The ice is pelting my windows as I type. I'm praying that we keep power too! That is what makes a storm just the worse.

  4. We're in the line of that ice storm, too, Vanessa. Hope and pray that it misses us all. Like maybe it hangs out over the Atlantic?

(Okay world, send that vibe out ... no storm puh-leaze.)

Love the kiddies in black denim. I can't see anything wrong with Julian's pants. I love how you did white topstitching for contrast. (White instead of yellow. Very cool.)

And super glad that you seem restored. Yay, Vanessa!

    1. D7ana - Well the ice storm didn't miss us like I wanted it to. It's actually worse than I thought it would be. Maybe it will miss you guys.

I'm going to make Julian a nice shirt to go with his pants. He likes having fashionable clothes.

    2. I'm smiling at the thought of dapper young Julian. I remember the Batman costume. He does like fashionable clothes.

I heard about the ice storm and it surprised me. My Dad was from Georgia. When he was a child, he hadn't seen snow growing up. It wasn't until he came up north that he got the snow and related messes. We 're supposed to get our dose of Winter Whoop-A tomorrow. I will be glad when we are out of this winter.

      Come on Spring! Pleeeze ....

  7. Adorable outfits!

I have so much admiration for people who are able to sew for such small scale dolls - it always intimidates me to work on tiny projects like that!

    1. jSarie - Welcome to my blog. Thanks. I agree, sewing for the bigger dolls is a lot easier. That is why it took me so long to start.

  8. These black denim fashions are just too cute! I really like Ciana's jumper. I've always liked little girls with jumpers, especially when they are paired with turtlenecks and matching tights.

Stay warm. I hope you do not lose power.

    1. DBG - Thanks. You know all I heard was, 'you need to make Ciana a white turtleneck and put some tights on her." Great idea. Let me see what I can do about that.

So far we still have power. Yippee!

  10. Wow, Vanessa, you have really been sewing up a storm! This has really been a hard winter all around so far. The snow is so deep here we had to dig a path for the dog to out and do her business. And we have had sub-zero temps pretty much the entire month of January and so far in February. Someone told me that we have not had this much snow in January since 1896! New record I guess.

You have also inspired me to start some sewing project too.

    1. Phyllis - You know what they say, practice makes perfect. And I need a lot of practice.

Wow, 1896! I guess we were do for a bad winter. They've been so mild down here. My dog Bruce, feels right at home in the snow. He's from Rochester. He won't go out in the rain, but he loves the snow.

  11. Jacob! You naught boy! LOL! The little Jacob doll's face reminds me of my cute (and troublesome) little cousin. My little cousin was a sweet baby but you know how some boys can get once they enter preschool and first grade. He can be naughty but he is very smart and loving.

Ciana is just adorable in her dress! I just wanna squeeze her chubby cheeks!

Now did you make that Winking Smiley shirt for him? Or did you buy it (if so, who was the manufacturer)? It's cool.

    1. KenyaDoll - Yes, little boys can be a handful at those young ages. Jacob has his moments.

The tshirt is from a Joe Boxer Barbie set I bought over 10 yrs ago. It came with a lot of cute items. Here is a link where you can see the whole set. http://www.flickr.com/photos/napudollworld/5541703554/

  12. For some reason Jacob look like he's dancing. You know how little boys will hear music and start bopping up and down from the knees? That's Jacob right now, lol. He's loving his fly new duds. Great sewing, once again.

I've been seeing the photos of a frozen Atlanta on the news and it looks brutal! Stay in your thermal underwear and jammies and ride it out!

I rewatched Gone With The Wind and one thing I had forgotten was that it was 4 hours long, so it took me 2 days to finish. Different strokes for different folks, because all these years later and I still thought it was an excellent, visual masterpiece. Clark Gable wasn't as hot as I remembered him being as a kid, but tastes change. Vivian Leigh still stole the show though. She's delightful.

    1. Muff - Jacob does have knees that bend, so he probably is dancing.

I may try to watch the movie again.

  13. Your black denim outfits are really cute. We've heard on the news about the bad storms you are all suffering from. England seems to be suffering badly as well. We seem to at the end of our hot summer so hopefully you will soon be through your harsh winter.

    1. Carrickters - Thanks. The good thing about being in GA is the bad weather never lasts for long. We are expecting lots of sun tomorrow, so hopefully most of it will melt away. It is the most snow I've seen here in 13 years! Stay cool over there.

  14. Great job on their cute little outfits. : ) Jacob is working it. Lol!

My power has been out since 8:15am yesterday. I loaded up a blog post with plans to edit it the next day and now NO power. Lol! It has been a year tomorrow and I was super excited to be doing so. Safe safe and warm Vanessa!

    1. Georgia Girl - You did a blog post? Well I guess now we know why your power went out. ROFL! Thank goodness we never lost power up here. This is the most snow I've seen in GA since I moved here. I almost feel like I'm in Rochester. I hope you get power soon. Stay safe and warm!

Hopefuly weather is already better in Atlanta. I heard there was a lot of ice storms in US recently, and that a lot of cities hadn't power, some for week or so. Looks like it's a really hard winter. I hope you're safe!

    1. jewel snake - Thanks! I've been wanting to make a kid's clothes store, but I don't know if that will ever happen.

We had lots of sun yesterday, which melted most of our snow and ice. That's the beauty of being in Ga. As quickly as the snow comes, it leaves. It can wreak a ton of havoc for the short time it is here, though.
