Kendra Finally Gives Birth (Photostory)

Kendra went into labor the second night of her stay at the hospital.  She has been checked and she is fully dilated and the doctor is on his way.

"I don't think I can do this."  (Kendra)

"You will be fine, Mrs. Burke.  Can I get you some ice chips?"  (Doctor)
"No.  I just want to go home."  (Kendra)

Dr. Sheppard has entered the room.
"Did I hear you say you wanted to go home?"  (Dr. Sheppard)

"Yes.  I don't want to do this anymore."  (Kendra)
"I will let you go as soon as we deliver this baby.  So let's get to it."  (Dr. Sheppard)

Dr. Sheppard takes his position.  The other doctor leaves the room.  She has other patients to attend to.  Nathaniel takes his place next to Kendra.

"Honey, it's all going to be okay.  I'm right here."  (Nathaniel)

"These pains are unbearable!"  (Kendra)
Kendra then lets out an incredible scream.  The pains are coming closer together.

"Kendra, it's time for you push now.  Your baby is ready to meet his parents."  (Dr. Sheppard)

"Doc, I don't think the epidural is working."  (Kendra)

"It's working.  Don't focus on the pain.  Focus on meeting your baby.  Now push!"  (Dr. Sheppard)

With her husband's encouragement, Kendra gives a big push, and another loud scream.

"You're doing great honey!"  (Nathaniel)
"Would you please stop patronizing me!"  (Kendra)
"You are doing great, but I need you to push again when you are ready."  (Dr. Sheppard)

"Arrrrgggghh!"
Kendra lets out another scream as she gives another push.))

"There, there."  (Nathaniel)
Kendra's husband cools her off with a wet cloth.  He's kind of wishing he had made more of the lemans classes.  He's feeling a little lost right now, wondering if there's something he should be doing to ease the pain.

Kendra peers at him with love and hate in her eyes.  Love because she's happy he's there  by her side, and hate because, he's the reason she's in this position to start with.

"Great job.  His head is out.  A couple more pushes and he will be here."  (Dr. Sheppard)

Nate jumps up at hearing the baby's head is out.  He's anxious to meet his son.   But he promised Kendra that he would not watch the birth from that angle.  She wanted him to remember her private parts the way they were before giving birth.

Dr. Sheppard doesn't have to tell Kendra to push.  She is already in motion.  She just wants this to be over!

"Wahhh, wahhh!"  (baby crying)
"Congratulations, your son is here!"  (Dr. Sheppard)

"Honey, you did it. Thank you! Thank you!"  (Nathaniel)
Kendra is exhausted, but she's excited.
"We have a son, honey."  (Kendra)

Dr. Sheppard leaves to go wash up, while the nurse tends to the baby.

"Is he okay?"  (Kendra)

"He's perfect."  (Nathaniel)

Kendra gets to see her son moments later.

"Well hello handsome.  It's about time you made an appearance."  (Kendra)

As Kendra looks into that smiling face, she now knows all the pain was worth it.

The happy couple continues to bask in the joy of having their first child.  With all the commotion, they forgot to call any of their friends and family.

Epilogue:
Sorry it took so long for her to give birth.  I had great intentions of making her a special baby.   I just ran out of time.  I may still get to it, but for now, she's very happy with her Mattel baby.

  11. Ooh, they finally have their baby boy, how great. They forgot to ring their family and friends in Morristown, but everyone else knows all about it. Looks like it was a pretty easy birth and Kendra and the baby are fine so that's all that matters. How much did the baby weigh?

    1. Carrickters - Yes, the baby is FINALLY here. Kendra said there was nothing easy about that birth! I guess comparatively speaking, it was pretty easy. She still doesn't think so.

  16. The photos of Kendra's labor and delivery and wonderful! Her initial dialogue about wanting to go home and not being able to do this brought back memories. Great story!

I am sure you'll be able to fashion a baby yourself for the Burkes, if that is still in the plan. Infants grow so quickly and change in appearance as fast so it should be doable.

    1. DBG - Thanks! Glad I could take you back down memory lane. Baby delivery has always scared me from the time I was a teenager. Probably why I never gave birth.

  17. Girl I was all up in my phone in the middle of the night saying, "She had the baby!" LOL! If my husband had inquired I would have mentioned one of my cousins who did just have a baby. 'Cause there is NO WAY he'd understand. This is sooooooooo sweet. Loved it! She had to bark at Nathaniel one more time. In my head I was telling him to watch out when he was wiping her face. LOL!!!

    1. Kenya - ROFL! No, I don't think your husband would understand either. Even I don't understand at times.

I thought Nathaniel was going to get it big time, but she must have been too tired to bark at him.

  18. I'm totally amazed by this post and the work you did. It's been the first dolly birth I've attended and it's been so touching and even thrilling! The baby is very cute, and I'm sure Kendra doesn't mind you didn't have time to make a handmade one because she'll love this anyway. Wonderful, wonderful job!

  20. I see London, I see France, I see a baby coming out of a hoo ha! I was not expecting that shot, lol.

She was a lot more calm than I expected. I thought she would grab Nathaniel by the hair and yank out a few plugs.

    Most excellent post!

    1. Muff = lol. Hoo ha took me back to a SugarHill Gang song. Apache maybe? Anyhow, I'm surprised that you guys were so surprised at that shot. I kept it pretty mild. Not bloody gory details. Just a little baby head. lol. She wanted to slap that silly grin off her husband's face. What the heck was so darn funny! But she didn't have the strength to follow through with it.
