At Her Wit's End (Photostory)

After Andrew leaves, Tori returns to her bedroom and starts dialing one of her friends.

Karla arrives home from work.
"Tori?  Tori?"

"I'm in my room."  (Tori yells)

"Mom?  You're home early. "  (Tori)
"Yes.  We got out a little earlier today.  Was that Andrew I saw driving down the street?"  (Karla)
"Oh.  He stopped by to drop off a book I needed."  (Tori)

"So you're saying he just dropped off the book and left?"  (Karla)
"Yep."  (Tori)
"Why don't I believe you?"  (Karla)

"Because you never believe me.  He just dropped off the book and left."  (Tori)

"Well, I'm going to call Mr. Andrew myself to see what he has to say about it."  (Karla)

"Mom, wait."  (Tori)

"Okay, he came in but he only stayed a minute."  (Tori)
"So not only were you entertaining while I'm not home, which you know you are not supposed to be doing, but you also lied to my face."  (Karla)

"Are you and Andrew having sex?"  (Karla)
"MOM, no!"  (Tori)
"You just lied to me a minute ago, why should I believe you now?"  (Karla)

"Because I'm telling the truth now."  (Tori)

"Tori, I'm tired.  Tired of the constant back and forth with you.  I work hard to make sure you have everything you need and a lot of stuff you don't need.  And in return I ask for you to respect me, my house, and most of all, respect yourself.  Sometimes I think this is all a game to you, but it's not a game.  It's life and there are serious consequences to bad decisions.  I love you.  I'll always be here for you, but I can't play this game with you any more."  (Karla)

Karla turns and leaves.

"By the way, I'm calling your dad and you are on punishment."  (Karla)
"For how long?"  (Tori)
"Until I say otherwise."  (Karla)

Tori plops down on her bed.  Now she's feeling a little guilty about her afternoon with Andrew.  She's also not looking forward to hearing a lecture from her dad.

Sidenote:  I HAVE to repaint both these dolls.  Their makeup is just so wrong.  Too much eye makeup and too pink lipstick.

Here's the former pink copier.  Doesn't it look real?

  1. Oh, these girls. Living life like they own the world. Tsk tsk. Punish her fast behind!

That copier does look real. Were you able to save the clear screen inside it?

    1. Muff - I don't wish teenage girls on anyone. Call me when they get 18. Yes, the clear part is there. I took the copier apart to paint it.

  2. Wow! It's weird but I actually see Tori's point as well as Kara's. It wasn't ok for Tori to lie but at some point Kara needs to trust in Tori to make decisions that won't take things too far. This reminds me SO much of when I was a teen. My mother past when I was 13yrs old and I was partly raised by my oldest brother, when that didn't work out my brother closest to my age took me in. Both were protective but a lot of times overly so. Long story short, what they thought I was doing, I wasn't and I always felt bad that I didn't have their trust.

By the way, how old is Tori? I agree with you about the makeup. That's why I haven't purchased Kara, yet. It's almost like they didn't blend in the eye shadow, LOL.

Nice work on the copier, it looks totally real!

    1. Tracy - So sorry to hear about your mom. Sometimes brothers and dads can be even more protective than moms. Tori is 17. In this case I think it's more about respecting the rules of the house. Karla is not crazy overprotective like some parents, but she's trying to get Tori off to college without some disaster happening. Go ahead and get Kara, you can fix her makeup. I have faith in you.

  3. A liar and a sneak. I'd like to snatch a knot in her butt or at least threaten to do it. Hope Tori's dad can reign her in a bit if Karla's punishment isn't enough.

The makeup is a bit much, but I love Karla's hair.

    Love the copier!

    1. DBG - I feel you! Back in the day, my mom would have done the same. That's why I never tried that one.

Fixing Karla's makeup won't be too much of a problem. I keep forgetting how bad it is until I see pictures of it.

  4. Hello from Spain, she is the typical spoiled daughter. She is a teenager. I like her mother's outfit. Great Job because your former copier look like real. I like very much. Keep in touch

    1. Marta - Yes, she is a little spoiled. As an only child, she has always gotten a lot of attention. She seems to still want a lot of attention.

  5. I keep telling my Kara she can't wear pink lipstick but the girl won't listen. I'm sure your Tori will look much better after you re-educate her on this point. Looks like she needs to get re-educated on a few other points too but she has loving parents so she should turn out o.k.

I am looking forward the next story and the new makeup of Tori and Karla. I hope they will be reconciled soon.
I love Tori's room, what kind of house is it?

    1. Rosemary Hill - Thanks. Tori's room is in a cardboard house I bought at Christmas time. It was about $35. Here is a link to the post I did about it. http://vansdolltreasures.blogspot.com/2012/12/new-dollhouse.html

    1. Mustiwait - Thanks. It will be interesting to see how dad reacts. Sometimes dads can't get mad at their little girls, and sometimes they are way over protective.

  8. Good Karla! Better to react now than let Tori to complicate her life.
I like Karla, she seems inteligent woman and good mother :)
You're making you characters so natural that I'm getting angry at them when they're making something stupid, I'm happy when they are going well, etc XD So please forgive me when I will wrote "aah, stupid this or that person "

  9. So, I love the paint job on the copier. I haven't gotten around to do anything with mine yet and I am inspired! I agree about the Kara dolls. What is up with that? Love the story. It is soo real!!

    1. Ms. Leo - Thanks. I will be showing the whole painted office later today. The makeup is horrendous on these two dolls. Definitely needs to be toned down.

    1. coolsinger - It's Tori's fault. Once you tell one lie, it's hard for anyone to believe you aren't lying about other things. We will be getting back to the shower in a couple days.

  11. Oooops. Drama. She should have come up with something better than dropping a book off. At least her bed covers weren't wrinkled.

  12. Poor Karla, poor Tori - these situations are difficult but better dealt with now than later when things are even more serious. Hopefully Tori will begin not just to feel guilty but to think about and understand why her parents are setting these limits for her.
    Your photocopier looks very realistic.

    1. Carrickters - Some daughters and mothers have a very difficult time during those teenage years. Tori doesn't want limits. She wants freedom.

  13. It reminda me when I receive packages of dolls. My mom acts just like Karla. We are all Tori inside.
Cool job on the copier, I think you should add some dirt, a copier is always dirt of toner dust

  14. Tori is quite the erm, teenager, hehe!

That's so funny you said that about their makeup... I was just thinking that looking at the eyeshadow when they're facing each other. Or, I should say I was thinking, "Hmm, their tastes are very similar" LOL.

The office equiptment looks AWESOME! Very real now. :)

  15. Hi Vanessa,

What kind of paint are you using to repaint the office equipment?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. calyx0772 - I use 2X Painter's Touch. Home Depot has a lot of different colors. Don't buy the one that says paint + primer. Buy the one without the primer.

  17. That is the conversation that every daughter listens to and every mother makes at least once in her life. I think we all were Toris once, but I must confess that if I were a mother I would have spoken like that to my daughter!

    1. Rossetti - Yes, most of us went through what Tori is going through. They are tough years for teenagers.
