Thrift Store Find and The Burkes (Photostory)

Mom did it again.  She found an awesome piece at the thrift store.  I need to give that lady a raise.  She also gave me a Barbie kitchen the other day that she had been riding around with in her trunk.  You will see that another day.

Isn't it awesome?  It was marked $1.51.  A lot of times she gets a senior discount, so I'm not sure what she paid for it.  I didn't even take time to clean it yet.  I was so excited to show it.  I have two families in mind that would probably love this piece.  Mrs. Langford  and Mrs. Jackson.  It might look nice in the Langford's remodeled Victorian home.

I will have to make some knick knacks to go inside.

Last we saw the Burkes, Kendra seemed to be having a mini meltdown.  She has snapped out of.  Every once in awhile, that happens.  Then she remembers how sad she was when she thought she couldn't get pregnant.
Nathaniel is just finishing up in the bathroom.

"Honey, what's taking you so long?  I want to show you what I bought for the nursery."  (Kendra)

"I'm coming.  I'm coming."  (Nathaniel)

"Do you need anything from downstairs, before I get comfortable?"  (Nathanial)
"No, I'm good."  (Kendra)

"Are you sure?  No ice cream?  Donuts?"  (Nathaniel)
"Not right now."  (Kendra)
"Okay.  So what did you want to show me?"  (Nathaniel)

"Look what came in the mail, today.  The wall hangings for the nursery.  I'm going to paint them and decorate them myself.  It will give me something to do while I'm here resting."  (Kendra)

"That's nice, honey.  I guess I need to get that nursery painted ASAP.  We don't have a lot of time left."  (Nathaniel)

"Look, I got one another one, too."  (Kendra)

"This one says, dream."  (Kendra)

"It makes me remember that having your baby is really a dream come true."  (Kendra)
"Oh honey.  Come here."  (Nathaniel)

"I can't wait to meet our child.  I know he is going to be just as beautiful as his mother."  (Nathaniel)
"What makes you think it's a 'he'?"  (Kendra)
"I can tell by the way he kicks.  He definitely has a leg on him."  (Nathaniel)

"I love you, honey."  (Kendra)
"I love you, too."  (Nathaniel)

"Honey?  I'm hungry."  (Kendra)
Nathaniel just lets out a little sigh as he prepares to head to the kitchen.

  1. I got the same curio cabinet at a thrift store two years ago. It makes a very nice period piece. The story with the Burkes is very sweet.

    1. Heather - Thanks. I let out a little squeal when I saw it. That is a great idea about the fridge. Kendra probably won't agree to having food so close to her all the time. She's very concerned about the amount of weight she has gained.

  9. Great find on the cabinet! Your mom's so awesome! I don't always find cool doll things when I go to thrift stores up here. I guess that's why I wind up making/building what the Moreville residents want and/or need. LOL Can't wait till the Burkes have their baby. Yes, we got through the storm. No damage that we could see. :-)

    1. Muff - Don't buy any unopened boxes when you go to the new thrift store! I know you are all about the curiosity, but no.

After 8 months of pregnancy Nathaniel knows he can expect just about anything.

  12. Your story reminds me of when I was pregnant and craved potato chips. My husband went out and bought one of every flavour.
Your mum finds the best things - that little cabinet will look great filled with your knick knacks.

Love the thrift find and the price is a triple win! Congrats.
