Kitchen Renovation (Photostory)

It's Saturday early evening and the Jordans are at home.

Mike is reading the paper, Sydney is trying to open her animal cookies, and Adele is about to have a serious conversation about the kitchen.

So, honey, I stopped by Home Depot and spoke to the people in the kitchen department about their renovation process.  (Adele)

"I was planning to do the work myself."  (Mike)

"Open, mommy."  (Sydney)

"Bring it here."  (Adele to Sydney)
"Honey, when are you going to have time to do the renovation, yourself?  Your schedule is pretty packed."  (Adele to Mike)

"My schedule should open up in a couple of months."  (Mike)

"A couple of months!  I really don't want to wait that long."  (Adele)

"I'm tired of eating out, and I just can't get inspired to cook in that kitchen.  It doesn't make sense for me to unpack all the kitchen stuff and then have to repack it for the renovation.  We should just go ahead and do it now."  (Adele)

"Here you go, Sydney."  (Adele)

"Honey?  Are you listening?"  (Adele)
"I'm listening."  (Mike)
"So can I go ahead and schedule Home Depot to come out and give us an estimate?"  (Adele)
"I think we should talk about this a little later."  (Mike)

Typical.  Mike wants to flex his muscles and do the job himself, and Adele wants it done right now.  Let's hope they can come to a happy medium.

Here is the kitchen Adele was speaking of.  I don't blame her.  It needs some serious help.

  1. Yeah...it is rather cramped! I hope he doesn't procrastinate...that would really become a problem!

    1. Loretta - Cramped and just plain ugly. I have a feeling if he procrastinates, Adele will make him suffer.

  2. Hello from Spain: I love this salon. A very dear family. The dialogues are very real. I see they have work in the kitchen .... Keep in touch

  3. Hah! Open in a couple of months, pshw! I hope that they'll figure something out, or else it'll look like that Mike will have to make his own meals for a while!

    1. Verona - Adele will definitely rebel if he doesn't acquiesce. Men can get on their own little time table and think that's it.

  4. Adele is a very good girl. If my husband agree that the kitchen needed work Home Depot would have been in my kitchen the day I moved in. LOL

  6. Hi Vanessa,
I love your salon and so much the color of the sofas.
    See you soon

  7. Very nice interiors as usual. I was wondering Vanessa, if your dolls would ever read the Mine Magazine from my blog? If they would then feel free to copy the photos and to print them down to Barbie scale. If you follow the Mine Magazine Label then all the posts with magazine covers will pop up.

  8. Very realistic (and funny). I too would be interested to see Adele's plans for her kitchen - and how they come to fruition.

    1. Carrickters - I hope she comes up with a good plan, because I'm plumb out. But I better come up with something quick, just in case she's able to hire Home Depot and not wait the 2 or so months.

  9. Why do dudes have to flex like that? Just get in there and fix it. Now. I remember one time I asked someone I was seeing to take the trash out while I was cleaning the kitchen after our meal. They said they would but it was still stitting there when I finished the kitchen so I took it myself. OMG, you would have thought I cut their pee pee off with all the huffing and puffing I heard about it. "I said I was gonna do it and if I say I'm gonna do it, let me do it - waa waa." Then do it faster, A-hole!

LOL, you and these stories just be tapping into my life, girl!

    1. Muff - Girrrrl, I don't know why they do that. I had a similar incident with my now ex-husband. I asked if I could paint the kitchen, because he wanted to paint the dining and living room. He said 'yes'. I asked again before buying the paint. He said 'yes'. The day after I finished a job well done, he went ballistic. I had to hear about how I was trying to wear the pants in the house. ROFL AGAIN! Mind you, the two other rooms NEVER got painted. From that day forward, I never fixed another thing in the house. I had to ask over and over about things that needed fixing. OMG, that reminds me, when he found out I had a Dremel set, he got upset. ROFL AGAIN! Some men, what can you say?

  10. LOL! I don't know if you remember me posting about the house behind me that someone has been "building" for the past three years. I am assuming the builder is the husband because every time there's an occasion, someone works on the house again. After Valentines Day windows got put in. I just imagine he asked the wife what she wanted for Valentines Day and she said, "If you asked me that one more time, I want a divorce". LOL! I can't wait to meet the new owners. I wonder what year that will be.

    1. Kenya - I do remember about that house. That is hilarious that it's taking forever to finish it. That was about a year ago. It must be the husband or boyfriend. That house will probably only be finished when they need to sell it in the divorce. LOL.

  11. Great interiors! Maybe Adele and Mike can have Home Depot do the heavy lifting to make the kitchen more functional but leave some things for him to do like painting.

    1. limbe dolls - Thanks. Have you ever been married? Mike is NEVER going to get to the work in that kitchen. Definitely not in the two months time that he suggest. He needs to just cough up the money and be done with it.

    1. jassica joe - I doubt very seriously that Adele is going to wait on Mike. She knows her husband well enough to know 2 months will turn into 6 months.

  13. Of course that kitchen needs renovation... And having a look at Mike's attitude, Adele should go on with the renovation with Home Depot! Men!

    1. Heather - Considering the small amount of space she is working with, she doesn't have a ton of options.

  15. I don't blame Adele for her nudging. That kitchen is screaming for help. Mike is being a typical laid back man who often puts off what needs to be done now for another day. That day might never come unless an Adele prompts him into action.

    1. DBG - Oh, you can hear the screams coming from that kitchen, too? I'm pretty sure Adele will get the job done, with or without Mike's support. She's used to this attitude when it comes to spending money to get the house done.
