Karla, Tori, and Nikki

Today you get to meet, Tori, Karla's 17 yr old daughter.  Remember Karla (with a K) is Kara's sister.  This living room is in the Happy Family home.  Karla and her daughter live in the same neighborhood as the McGraws.  Their houses have the same floor plan.  [Initially I made this living room for the McGraws, but it was not their style.  I will have to make them another living room.]

"I don't know why you are looking at me.  You are not getting my food."  (Tori)
Tori is the new Baby Phat Kara.

Karla arrives home after stopping by Jordan's grocery store on her way home from work.
Karla is Rollerskating Kara.

"Hi mom."  (Tori)
"Hi Tori."  (Karla)

"Why are you eating McDonald's?  There is plenty of food in the refrigerator."  (Karla)

"I know, but I didn't feel like fixing anything."  (Tori)

"And I thought you were going to arrange the books and the accessories on the new bookcase."  (Karla)
"Oops.  I guess I forgot."  (Tori)

"Tori, you can't sit around all afternoon on Twitter and Facebook and not get the things done that I asked you to do."  (Karla)
"Mom, I'll get to it.  It's not going anywhere."  (Tori)
Karla picks up the bag of groceries and walks into the kitchen.  She knows if she says anything, she's likely to lose control.  It won't be long before Tori is headed off to college.  Her mom has made sure that she has a room in the dorms.  Time apart will be great for their mom-daughter relationship.

Tori grabs her shake and stares at the bookcase.  She decides to work on it right after she eats and checks Facebook

Across town.....
Nikki is grabbing her water bottle and her golf clubs.  She is meeting Darius to play nine holes.  It's been awhile since she's played, but she's confident that she will play well.

These two Barbie Look outfits arrived yesterday.  I bought them from BarbieCollector.com on Barbie's birthday.  They were have 25% off and with my $20 coupon, I got each outfit for $4.95 each.  Original price, $19.95, each.  By the way, BC.com is having free shipping on everything this weekend to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

P.S.  I did make a few books this morning.  I still have quite a few to do, but I at least got started.

    1. Georgia Girl - Thanks. I'm having fun trying to make all the smaller scale Barbie houses suitable for my families.

  2. That's a sweet house, but I get a feeling that Tori is going to find something else she's distracted by before she gets to that bookcase.

    1. Muff - Tori is a girl after my own heart. She is glued to her Ipad and everything else is oblivious to her.

  3. Procrastination for the win Tori LOL! Once she moves into the dorms, hopefully there relationship will improve. Nikki is looking fierce in that golfing outfit! Reminds me of my golfing days(lasted 2 days).

    1. Verona - LOL! Sometimes those teenage years are pretty hard on parent-child relationships. Karla has learned to bite her tongue to keep from strangling her. I dabbled at golf because it was always the team building exercise my male coworkers picked. Fun game! My putting was much better than my driving. The first time I got the ball to sail through the air, you would have thought I won the lottery.

  4. Great buy on the clothes. I just got that tea outfit/set myself at Target last week. Since BC is having free shipping this weekend, I may order a couple of their Barbie Basics dolls I've been looking at. Love what you've done with the house also! :-)

    1. Cindi - At first I thought they had charged me the wrong price, but it was right. I would love to have another of the AA Barbie Basics 3.0. I want to experiment with her hair. Glad you like the house.

  5. I guess Twitter and Facebook addiction is so common everywhere!! Some of my students would forget doing their homework, home chores and even eating because of it. And what wonderful packs you bought, and such a price! I love the one with the tea cups, it's so cute!

    1. Rossetti - Darn social networking! LOL! Hard to imagine what life was like before it took over. One can never have too many tea cup sets.

  6. Tori sounds like my grand girl! They do tend to procrastinate, huh? I'm with Mom...less said...better! Love the living room...

    1. Loretta - There's a common theme that runs through teenagers. Parents just have to get to the other side without someone getting hurt. LOL. Karla said she's glad you like the room.

    1. limbe dolls - I couldn't believe the price, but I hurried up and pressed the pay button. I didn't want to pay full price for any of the outfits. But the golfing accessories and the golf shoes makes it worth having.

  8. Hello from Spain: I like Tori. She acts like an actual teenage girl. Computer and junk food too ... I like those chairs with polka dots. I love your two new dresses. In my country each set worth $ 40 ... I like the dress with the coffee set. I envy! Keep in touch

    1. Marta - Woah! $40! That's twice what it costs here. Hopefully you will be able to find it on sale. Unfortunately, Tori is very typical. She doesn't like doing chores of any kind.

  9. This flowery dress is so pretty! Can't wait to see who will wear it!

Haha, Tori reminds me of myself awfully a lot! You made both characters, Tori and Karla, very real!
Books! I love them! I'm curious which authors you've chose!

    1. jewel snake - I think I already have a candidate for the dress, but I will keep it a surprise in case I change my mind. So are you saying I should have named Tori, Jewel? LOL. Do you have any authors you would like to suggest? Right now I just picking random books because they have book jackets that are printable.

  10. I love Karla's green knit dress. Looks like she'll be a sharp dresser.

I like how your houses have similar arrangements. Gives a more realistic feel ;-)

    1. D7ana - Thanks. I think Karla is another little diva in Morristown. As if I could afford another one to show up.

With all these families needed homes, there will be more with similar arrangements and different furniture. LOL.

  11. I love this post! You did a great job of setting a contrast between Karla and tori and I am sure Darius is excited to spend some time with his lovely wife on the golf course.

Just out of curiosity what happened to Kendra and her pregnancy? What happened to uncle Darius and aunt nicki?

    1. Sebc - Hello and welcome to my blog. Initially I was going to have the two be sisters, but when I put them together, Tori looked young enough to be her daughter. Funny you asked about Kendra. This morning I started making a little bedroom to do a story with her. We will be seeing a lot more of her pregnant self real soon. I just had to get the Disney stuff out the way. And moving Morristown has slowed me down a bit, too.

  12. Wow, you hit the jackpot with those outfits. I plan on getting all them real soon. You can't hat a girl for networking! I wish I had the room to give my dolls there own houses where I don't have to move things around. I know they are tired of being in a box, lol.

    1. Brini - Those outfits look even better at that price. LOL! If you only knew how many of my dolls were in boxes. Don't feel bad.

  13. Poor Karla. This is my world now with 3 teens at home. I am looking forward to them going off to college. I can't believe I missed out on that bfc sale! I used my $20 off towards the wardrobe.

I just love your dioramas and stories. I am Onyyxgirl on Flickr, and I will try and comment more.

    1. Onyyx - You poor thing! I went through that with two of my stepdaughters. I thought about that wardrobe. Did the calculations and everything, but decided to go with the clothes. It's a nice wardrobe, though. Thanks for stopping over to visit me from Flickr.

  14. I saw on internet the happy family house. The room are so small and you have done a great work. It's very well decorate. I love the two chairs, looks modern. I like the little dog who is waiting for some food...Relation between teenagers and mother is sometimes difficult.

    1. Claude - Thanks. My family couldn't be happy in the Happy Family house without a little more room. The two chairs were sold as picture frames. They are the perfect size.

I love those polka dot chairs and the two sets are really cute!

  16. Grandmommy - Tori better thread lightly. Karla look like she don't play. She's taking the high road now, but I wouldn't press her luck.

  17. It won't be long before Tori has her own children and hears her mother's words coming from her own mouth. I know we swore we'd never be like our parents and yet some how they get inside us. lol Nice story, Van.

    1. Debbie - Hi dear! Hope you are well. You are so right. When spending time with two of my stepdaughters the past four months, they were sounding just like I did many years ago. I was dying with laughter. One is so strict. I couldn't believe it considering all the craziness she put us through. Somehow she doesn't remember those years.

  18. Actually I still don't like doing chores but I'm Mum so I have to. It makes the teenage years easier if you do remember what it was like and don't battle over small stuff - looks like Karla's learnt that lesson. Great price on those outfits, (it's always interesting to see how much more we have to pay).

    1. Carrickters - One of my motivations to get a good job, was being able to afford a part time housekeeper. It never happened because I got married and I didn't want any other woman coming around my husband. LOL. Oh the mind of a 26 yr old. I still don't like chores either.

  19. Tori's mom look sooooo YOUNG! LOL! They could be sisters. ;)

    1. KenyaDoll - LOL. Yes she had her when she was pretty young. They get mistaken for sisters all the time.
