Adele's Third Grade Class

Adele will be teaching the third grade which includes some of our favorite kids in Morristown.

Clearly they all need new school clothes.
First Row (L to R) Shannon, Nikaya, Tyler, Dillon, Cindy
Second Row (L to R) Jo, Charlotte, Adele's niece, Janet

I almost forgot I bought Gymnast Janet at the last November show.  I deboxed her so she could join the class.

Little Jo was also deboxed for the class.

Jo, from Little Women is a Mattel doll from the "When I Read I Dream Series", 2001.  She was a recent thrift store NRFB find.

Gymnast Janet is so cute! I bought her NRFB from a doll show last November for a wonderful price.  I didn't realize how different she is from my other Janet dolls.  Okay, I wasn't going to say this, but I changed my mind.  Mattel, where the heck are the African American, Asian, etc, kid dolls?  Give us something.  We have been patiently waiting for you to bring an ethnic doll back to your line in this size.  We know you can do it, you've done it before.  (Stepping off my soap box, now).

Dillon and Cindy are my two dolls from the Mary Poppins set.  I named my doll Cindy because she reminds me of Cindy from The Brady Bunch.  This NRFB set is still available on my DollPages.

  1. They are also so adorable. Third grade... I remember it all too well. Mrs. White was my teacher. She was a very beautiful woman with the prettiest hazel eyes.

I too wish Mattel would bring Janet size dolls back with Janet's complexion. I am also longing for the re-release of African American Skipper. Maybe soon.

My initial comment to your previous Adele post included a comment about my daughter's move from one school to another, but the comment didn't publish and I modified the one that did. This is my daughter's first week at the new school where the classrooms have better technology plus her pay is several 0000s more.

This past weekend she spent time decorating her new classroom. She taught first grade and was the first grade team leader at the former school. She was also the cheerleader coach. At the new school she will be teaching kindergartners. I guess she will now have to change her Facebook cover image from "You can't scare me, I teach first grade" to, "You can't scare me, I teach kindergarten."

    1. DBG - I can see my 3rd grade classroom so vividly. I can see the teacher, too, but am drawing a blank on her name. Your previous comment didn't come to my spam either. Wonder where it went? So funny, I still think of your daughter as a little girl. Never imagined she was a grown up, teaching a class. LOL! Adele asked is she could come help with her class decorations. Awwww, kindergarten. I was going to show Julian's kindergarten class, but decided I wasn't up for dealing with trying to get them to stay still for a group picture.

    2. After the original message failed to publish, I just rewrote it and omitted the part about my daughter's class.

Sometimes I still think of her as a little girl too, even though she'll be 35 next month. Wow! I watched her dance at my niece's wedding vow renewal ceremony yesterday (you know we always have to do the electric slide at weddings) and kept saying to myself, "She's so cute." I remember when I had a petite figure like that.

  2. My mom is a third grade teacher too. :) I think Adele has a lovely group.
Mattel really does need to add a lot more diversity to their kid dolls especially. They really need to get on the ball with this.

    1. Alura - Tell your mom to be on stand by in case Adele has questions. LOL! Mattel really has gone in the wrong direction where diversity of dolls is concerned.

  3. Cute kids! Jo is the cutest! These guys are first grader here! There are only two boys...they are in for it with all those girls! Ha ha!

    1. Ms. Leo - Poor guys! Those girls are going to walk all over them. That gymnast Janet looks like she's going to be a handful.

  4. They all look adorbale! Hopefully they won't be too much of a handful for Adele.

    1. Verona - Don't let those adorable looks fool you. I see some mischief lurking ahead. Nothing that Adele can't handle, though.

  5. The kids are adorable. I especially enjoyed seeing the Little Jo doll since Little Women is one of my favorite books. I think Adele must be at some kind of magnet or charter school since her class is so small. How fortunate for both her and the kids.

    1. limbe dolls - In the doll world that's actually a big class. LOL! Little Jo is adorable with her freckles. Her dress is so cute.

  6. The group photo looks like a time warp between Little House on the Prairie, The Brady Bunch and What's Happenning. Jo has that "I'm innocent but secretly evil," appeal about her.

    1. Muff - You really should consider "stand up". So is that Raj and Dee sitting on the first row? LOL!

  7. Lol! To Muff's comment!

Looking forward to seeing how Adele handles third grade. I remember third grade in Ms. Pitts classroom. She was a well groomed, very tall lady. Now looking back, she probably was not so tall. Lol! We were little people. She always wore her hair straight back in a bun. Wow, that was forty years ago. Where did time go?

    1. Georgia Girl - Muff is crazy. Isn't it nice to reminisce and be reminded how old we are? I wouldn't mind be stuck at 35, but I don't want to go all the way back to the 20s.

  8. The children are so adorable!!! Adele will make such a great teacher ! Hopefully the kids don't drive her over the edge lol ! Great job on arranging the classroom!(sorry I used so many exclamation points)

    1. sisilovesinging - Thanks. Adele is not the kind of teacher that can be driven over the edge. She is a pretty strong cookie.

  9. A really lovely class! I love that Jo doll, I did not even know her and she's so sweet. That photo will look fantastic when they are all dressed for school, it will be very interesting to see the before and after pics.

  10. Hello from Spain: I love Jo in 'Little Women'. You have a large collection of children. Are you going to sew your uniform to go to school??? I I have the two children of Mary Poppins. Keep in touch

  14. Cute kids ... love that new Janet with the poser body. The other kiddies are cute, too.

Bet Adele will be a hoot as a teacher. I love her no-nonsense, brisk manner ;-D

    1. D7ana - That new Janet was tucked away and almost forgotten. She is such a cutie. I didn't notice that while she was in her box. Adele reminds me of my eight grade social studies, no-nonsense, teacher.

  15. Great class, I'm sure Adele will enjoy teaching them and they will enjoy her as their teacher. And I'm sure she won't be grumpy like my third grade teacher (but then I looked at my school photo and counted the kids in the class and there were 52 so I think tht explains it).

    1. Carrickters - 52!!!! That's ridiculous. Where there multiple teacher aides?

    2. No. Just one teacher. The following year the school split the two third grade classes into three fourth grade classes.

    3. Carrickters - That's crazy. I would have been a cranky witch, too.

  16. So sweet & cute! ^o^ I used to have the Gymnast Janet when I was 11. She was the cutest Janet doll. I, too, wish they would bring back the ethnic children and teens. Mattel has been going backwards from not showing the Black Barbie in commercials to taking away a lot of the ethnic dolls from the children/Ken lines.

    Why are the two boy dolls topless? LOL! Are they on a swim team? :}

That Little Women doll is so adorable as well. I love her face mold and dress.

  17. KenyaDoll - You are so right about Mattel going backwards when it comes to the ethnic doll offerings.

Topless? LOL! None of these dolls are dressed for school. I took them in the clothes they had on just to get a shot. Tyler was just jetskiing, and Dillon is still dressed from hanging out in the pool with Tyler.
