Headed To and From Chicago (Photostory)

Mike and Adele have successfully found a place to live and they are headed back to Chicago to finalize things.  Adele's sister, Linda is there with her two kids.  Their father is arriving from Chicago today, to see them.  It's been 7 months since the last time they laid eyes on each other.

Boarding Gate B-25

There's Kim.  One of the college students.  She has a part time job at the airport running the concession stand.

"We've been so busy, we didn't get a chance to talk about your house hunting."  (Linda)
"Well, considering Mike was almost impossible, I'm just glad we were able to find a place."  (Adele)

"She's exaggerating.  I wasn't that bad."  (Mike)

"Not bad?  I thought Sunni was going to push you out of her car without slowing down." (Adele)
"We got what we wanted, didn't we?"  (Mike)

"Ms. Sato, you are all set."  (Attendant)
"Thank you."  (Kyori)

"Good news.  She can offer us a business class upgrade for $25 each."  (Kyori's Stylist)
"That's great news!  Will we get the upgrade all the way to L.A.?"  (Kyori)

"Mommy, when will Daddy be here?"  (Daughter)
"When they open up the doors, that means his flight has landed and he will be coming through the doors shortly after that."  (Linda)

"Ok, now what are you fussing about?  Maybe you are hungry."  Adele)

"What can I get you ladies, today?"  (Kim)
"Ummm, I think I will just have a bottle of Perrier."  (Kyori)
"And for you Miss?"  (Kim)
"I'll take a pretzel.  All that salt is going to leave me bloated, but I can't resist."  (Kyori's Stylist)

"Oooh look, Sydney.  Mommy has graham crackers for you."  (Adele)

"Watching the door is not going to make the plane come any faster."  (Linda)
"I know, but this way I won't miss him when he comes."  (Daughter)

"Honey, would you like a drink or something?"  (Mike)
"No, I have water in my purse."  (Adele)

Kyori and her stylist take a seat on the bench and chit chat for a bit.

"Flight 516 is now arriving from Chicago."  (voice on the loudspeaker)

"Oh good.  They've opened the doors.  Shouldn't be long before we can board."  (Kyori)

Suddenly people start coming through the doors.  Linda's daughter is standing there looking for her daddy.  She starts getting worried because it seems like everyone has come through the doors.  Suddenly, he appears in the doorway.

"DADDY!"  (Daughter)
Mark is happy to hear that familiar sound that he hasn't heard in awhile.

"Hi sweetheart.  It's so good to see you."  (Mark)

Linda stands and waits for Mark to come see his other daughter.
"Hello, Linda."  (Mark)
"Hey."  (Linda)
Mark picks up his youngest daughter and takes a seat.

"Daddy, did you bring me something?"  (Daughter)
"I brought you me.  Is that enough?"  (Mark)
"Yes, but did you bring me something else, too?" (Daughter)

Clearly the girls are excited to see him.  Seven months is a long time apart.  Adele and Mike are happy to see Mark, too.  They remember the good times when this family was still together.  I wonder what happened?  I will have to ask both Linda and Mark.  You know they each will have their version of the story.

"Well, it's time.  I'm going to start preboarding for Flight 708."  (Attendant)

"Attention:  We will begin preboarding Flight 708, nonstop to Chicago, in just a few minutes.  Please have your boarding pass and ID ready.  Please board only when your row is called.  Thank you."  (voice over the loudspeaker)

  5. "Can't touch this?" Yay, M.C. Hammer as Mark. Cool. New characters - Mark and Linda - and I look forward to their story. Oh and Kyori and her hair stylist. Hmmm ...

BTW the graham crackers look yummy. Sigh. Dip them in dark chocolate or cheesecake batter for me. Oh, slap - those are for the dolls ;-D

Good to see Mike and Adele, too.

    1. D7ana - You always have me singing some tune that stays in my head longer than I want. Kyori's stylist is more her fashion and hair stylist.

Leave it to you to turn graham crackers into a delicacy. You really need to start a food blog.

  9. Nice lobby, Where do you find the time. The dioramas ever disappoint. Since I don't have my doll friend anymore this blog really is very therapeutic.

  10. This is another great photostory, Vanessa.

The cushioned airport waiting room seats are perfect for the setting. The feet of other waiting room passengers showing in the first image was a nice touch. I could immediately tell the waiting room was occupied by passengers other than the main characters.

Did you make the concession stand food?

Make's expressions always compliment his captions.

I was surprised to see Mark (the doll playing his role). I am glad the girls will be able to visit with their dad. I wonder what happened between Mark and Linda.

    1. DBG - Thanks. The pretzels, the lollipops, the donuts, and the ham sandwich, were all food I made when I did the beach series a year ago. This is my first time using it all together since that time.

Girl, I was surprised to see Mark, too. I had to go back and see when Linda came to town if she mentioned him. Turns out she didn't. From her reaction here, I guess I shouldn't be surprised she didn't mention him.

  13. Great new characters and a new story line. I wonder how it will develop. I'll have to make some popcorn and pull up a chair for the next video story.

  14. I'm usually thinking of my comment as I read through the story... but then MC Hammer showed up and I freakin' forgot what I was going to say.

    He's awesome!

    1. Muff - They did a great job on that MC Hammer doll. I love his smile. But you know those nice smiles can get a brother in trouble sometimes.

  15. Ok DUH. I skimmed through the comments and I said, "Today is the day that I look up dio and see exactly what that is." So for emphasis, DUH. Now I can use it too and say, "Amazing DIO!" But that was just once. I'll go back to my regular language because that didn't feel right. So is Mark - Hammer?

    1. Kenya - I started spelling it out since the time you asked what DIO was. I'm trying not to speak doll lingo for those stopping by who don't know. Yes, Mark is my M.C. Hammer doll.

  16. Nice looking airport! I'm loving the concession stand and I'm definitely eyeing those pretzels. :)

Mark & Linda look perfect together. I was impressed at how close Hammer looks like the real deal and he's mature looking, so he makes for a great husband and father. :)

    1. Tracy - I never had plans to show Linda's ex, but MC just seemed to fit well with the kids. Even though he's not articulated, they gave him an articulated neck that is really nice. I wish more of my dolls had it.
