Nikki to the Rescue

It's the end the day and Nikki is still hard at work.  She is still trying to fix the mess she returned to after her vacation to Aspen.  Supposedly her backup fell ill just after she left and very little got done.  So she's been working some Saturdays trying to put everything back in order.  Luckily her new assistant was happy to get some overtime and has worked a few Saturday, too.

"Ms. Nikki, I'm leaving now, and a Mrs. Burke is holding on line 1." (Teresa)

"Thank you, Teresa.  Thanks for coming in today.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend." (Nikki)

"You're welcome.  I will see you on Monday." (Teresa)

"Hello.  This is Nikki."
"Hey, girl.  I'm sorry to disturb you at the office, but Nate is out of town for the weekend, and I can't seem to reach anyone else."  (Kendra)
"No problem.  Are you okay?" (Nikki)

"I'm not sure.  I've been nauseous, which I know is normal for pregnant woman, but I just started having some stomach cramps."  (Kendra)
"That doesn't sound good." (Nikki)
"Do you think I'm just being paranoid? I don't want to be one of those pregnant women that gets alarmed at every little thing."  (Kendra)

"Better safe than sorry.  I think you should call your doctor right away.  I'm leaving the office right now, so I can be at your place in about 15 mins.  Try to stay calm.  Call me on my cell after you speak to the doctor's office." (Nikki)

"Ok thanks."

Kendra hangs up from Nikki and dials the doctor's office.  She is connected with the weekend on-call doctor.

In the meantime, Nikki gathers her purse and heads out the door.  She arrives at Kendra and Nate's place in record time.  There she finds Kendra dressed and waiting.  The doctor instructed her to come in to the office to make sure everything was okay.

Nikki and Kendra wait for the doctor to arrive.

"Any word from Nate, yet?" (Nikki)
"Yes, he called after receiving one of my frantic messages.  Poor guy.  I'm not sure who was worse, me or him:  And he's a doctor, so you would think he would be a lot calmer."  (Kendra)
"It's different when it's your own loved ones going through something." (Nikki)

"I guess you are right.  He insisted on coming back from his conference, but I told him to wait until after I spoke to the doctor." (Kendra)

Dr. Sheppard arrives within minutes....
"Dr. Shepphard, what are you doing here?  I was expecting the weekend doctor to see me." (Kendra)

"Well, I left instructions that I wanted to be called if anything happened to certain patients.  You were on that list, my dear."  (doc)
"You are just a work-a-holic. Your poor family.  Hey, I'm a doctor's wife, I know what that's like." (Kendra)
"If you want, I will leave right now and rejoin my family." (doc)
"Oh no.  I am glad you're here." (Kendra)

"So tell me again, what you are experiencing."  (doc)
Kendra goes through her symptoms again.
"Any spotting?" (doc)
"A little, but not much." (Kendra)

"Okay, well we are going to check to make sure the baby is doing okay.  Let me set up the monitor for the ultrasound."

Dr. Sheppard completes the ultrasound, leaves the room for a bit, and returns to discuss his findings with Kendra.

"Ok.  It looks like the baby is fine, but we want to proceed with caution.  So I am putting you on bedrest until your next doctor appointment which I would like to be Thursday of next week.  How does that sound?" (Doc)

"That sounds wonderful.  I will do whatever you say if it's going to help me deliver a healthy baby."  (Kendra)
"I will do what I can to make sure that happens. Tell that husband of yours he needs to take good care of you or else he will answer to me." (doc, jokingly)
"Ok.  And you need to go find your family and spend the rest of the weekend with them." (Kendra)
"Aye, aye, madam.

Epilogue
Nikki takes Kendra home and decides to stay the night with her.  Darius is out of town on business, so it will be a wonderful girls night out.  Girls night out is interrupted around 10:30pm when Nate arrives home after driving the 3 1/2 hours from the doctor conference in Philadelphia.

In case anyone is wondering, the bed that Kendra is sitting on, if from the MyScene Hair Salon and Spa set. It is the massage bed that comes with a soaking tub.  You will see it again when Max gives some of the lovely ladies in Morristown one of his special massages.  (Not that special!)

  4. Hopefully everything will go smoothly with Kendra and the baby. Looks like the doctor should still have time to get back to his family and enjoy their company for a while though. Love both Nikki's office and the doctor's.

  6. Cool setting. I love the doctor's office cabinets and sink. Are they from the Sears Kenmore Kitchen set? Excellent re-use here.

Love Nikki's office with its carpeted floor.

Crossing my fingers for luck for the baby.

    1. D7ana - Yes, those cabinets are from the Kenmore set. Reuse helps me keep my storage issues in check. I hope the poor thing doesn't have to be on bedrest the whole time. That would be a drag.

  7. I agree with Heather! You get the most use out of your pieces of anyone I know except maybe Marta! You guys are the queens of reusing pieces in new ways. The Kenmore kitchen has paid for itself! I am going to have to find a body for my Top Model Nikki! Great Story!

    1. Ms. Leo - Thanks. My Nikki has a DG body. She had a basketball body before that, but she need to wear some of the cute shoes I have. Eventually I will replace some of my highly reused items with new handmade pieces, but for now it allows me to do things quick without running into additional storage issue.

    1. Sergio - Thanks. Nikki is still one of my faves. Dr. Sheppard has been here for years. I gave him a haircut before the wedding to make hie look a little more like the actor. I have a couple more actor's on the list. Who knows if I will every buy them.

  9. I'm glad Kendra's baby is okay! How sweet of Nate to drive so much to be with Kendra. The doc looks hunky to me! Another doll on my list. :)

    1. Verona - Me, too. Nate knows how important this baby is to Kendra and their family. When you get your Derrick Sheppard doll, I suggest a haircut. Right out of the box he just had too much hair for me.

  12. Awwww....my husband is such a wonderful doctor. I'm glad he has Kendra on his list as she's such a special friend. But just so you know....I have Freeman Taylor on my list. ; )

    1. Debbie - I only hope Freeman is on your doll acquiring list, not your 'checking out the reception guests" list, because your husband just may come back to the reception. Goodness knows I can't handle anymore drama!

  13. Very nice story, dioramas, dolls, everything! Lol! I hope Kendra is okay and does exactly what the doctor ordered. Nikki (my fav of Mattel dolls) has a very nice office. I love the silver and burgundy chairs. And ditto to those who said you have many great uses for your pieces...that is awesome to do so.

    1. LIKE I SAID IN THE LAST COMMENT, DON"T MAKE ME COME OVER THERE. If you don't leave Nikki alone. Shouldn't you be giving Darius the business? He's the one who picked Nikki over Halle.

    2. LOL! You know you gotta hate on the woman especially if she's pretty. If Darius was ugly then Halle could be like, "You can have him."

    1. Marta - I've had that Teresa for a long time. Glad to give her a small role in the stories. I may make up a new family with my Teresa dolls. I have so many that are not being used. I love Dr. Sheppard on Grey's Anatomy. So I wanted to keep him as a doctor in my stories. His wife Debbie is one lucky gal. Now if I can get him not to be such a work-a-holic, she would be a lot happier.
