The Day After Part 2: The Dance Studio

It's about 11am on Sunday. Tanisha is in the studio with one of her instructors, Maurice.  For the most part it is a family day. She attends early rise service with her parents, and later in the evening she will have dinner at their house.  Her sisters try to make it  as often as they can.

"You did well.  I just need you to work more on your extensions."  (Maurice)

Maurice leaves and Tanisha starts preparing for the upcoming class she will teach.

Chandra, who normally teaches the class with her, stops by to make sure everything's okay.

"Hey Nish.  Sorry to cut out on you .  Do you think you will be okay?" (Chandra)
"You know if I had an audition, I would cut out on you, too.  Good luck!  Break a leg." (Tanisha)

By noon, the dance studio is filled with lots of little girls and their parents.

The older girls know they need to stretch.

Most of the parents will stay in the lobby, while some choose to leave and come back when the hour is up.

There's Shannon's mom.  Wow, I didn't know she had two more kids.  Girlfriend has been busy.

"Alright ladies, let's take our places."

"Well there's my niece.  Come on in."

Ron and Robin are running a little late this morning.  That's Ron from Hotel Monaco.  He typically has Sundays off.

"Awww honey.  Don't you miss dancing?" (Ron)
"Sometimes." (Robin)

"Well hello there, cutie."  (Mrs. Hart)

"I didn't know you and Adele were sisters.  It's a small word."  (Toni)

Speaking of Adele.... Scene from a future Day After post.

  2. I love this dance studio. It reminds me of a studio where I used to take aerobics. Fun! No more though. Nice to see here though.

I love Tanisha's outfit. Those graphic pants look great with that plain gray top and in this setting. Love seeing the young girls stretch.

P.S. Which Chandra was Tanisha before she became Tanisha? I like her face screening best. I recognize the pants as once belonging to Trichelle, but not the Chandra. Yes, I'm snoopy ;-D

    1. D7ana - Happy I could bring back good memories. Here is a link to the original Chandra. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002UHJR1E?_encoding=UTF8&tag=yanktancouk&linkCode=as3&camp=15041&creative=373501. She was a Rocawear doll. I repainted her eyes and made them straight.

  3. This is a great start to your dance class stories, Vanessa. The little girls are too cute and the parents seem well behaved.

    Love the last picture!

    1. DBG - I am expecting great things from this studio. They all had a good time and Tanisha did a good job teaching by herself for the first time.

  7. Your dance studio is awesome! Reminds me of when my daughter took baton, and all of the moms had to wait outside. I love the setups! Really cute!

    1. Lisa - Thanks. The first time I stepped foot in a dance studio, I was 28yrs old, and I was the student with a bunch of young girls. Talk about hilarious.

  8. The dance studio brings back many memories -- all those years of Saturday morning Ballet class. I'm hoping for some adult ballroom dance classes too, though.

    1. limbe dolls - Hopefully those were good memories. Didn't you see the lead in to the adult dancing when Ron said, "Don't you miss dancing?" There will definitely be some adult classes coming up. I just had my second salsa class on Thursday. There are one on one ballroom classes at the same time. I try to pay attention to what they're doing when I can, so my dolls will know what to do.

  9. Girl you are on point with the moms in the lobby. Only thing missing is one texting. And I never get to sit by anyone whose baby brothers or sisters are going to sit still the whole time. I can't wait for the "day after" post.

    1. Kenya - These aren't the texting moms. That's a whole different group of ladies. After about 15 mins, most of the brothers and sisters had had enough.

  10. I too can't wait to see what cute dance teachers show up. lol Great dance studio! I wondered why there wasn't a mirror on the back wall and then it was, duh...the mirror would reflect you and the camera. A senior moment. I love the little girl with her leg up on the bar. So cute!

    1. Debbie - I just discovered that the little girl with her leg up has flexible ankles. Mattel has so many different articulation configurations, you never know what you will run into. She will be perfect for ballet. Shannon also has flexible ankles. Nikaya does not. By the way, Racquel loves the new outfits from Chic. I need to pop over and do some feedback. Love them!
