Wedding Reception Crisis Averted

I was incredibly close to nixing the whole reception this morning.  My list of things to do for the reception on top of everything else, which includes an order for ten handmade pens I received earlier this week, had my head spinning.  I hadn't worked on the reception at all since the photostory a few days ago.  I wanted to make matching chairs, the wedding cake, a lot more food, and decorate the place with some pizzazz.   I came to the computer to deliver the bad news to everyone.  Luckily an email was waiting for me where someone had commented on Carrickters blog about the wedding.  Her response "they are headed to the reception".  Damn, damn, damn.  So that stopped me from killing the project completely.  Instead I decided to seat everyone and work around them, so it won't seem like such a daunting task looking at the empty room.  I had to forget about making chairs and use what I had on hand.  I might even use a store bought cake (candle from the party store).  Tis better to scale back and do a really nice reception, than not to do one at all.

Here is the mock up.  I still have to get the tablecloths on the table and do the decorations.  Mike and Adele won't be sitting there.  They are keeping the table warm for the Taylor family, who hasn't made it to the ballroom yet.

The room filled up incredibly fast and I had to make some changes.  The food will temporarily be setup in the dance area.  Then it will be removed in time for all the partying.

I just couldn't resist taking baby Chelsea's picture.  She was in that perfect picture pose.  If you look closely you can see the drool on her mouth from where she is sucking her fingers.  (Not really).

    1. Debbie - If you want my advice, I say stay seated in the ballroom. You and your family have a table. If you move, I can't promise it will be there when you return from the bar. Not to mention, the bar stools were brought into the room for extra seating. You two would be standing up for a long time.

  3. I'm glad to see this is still happening! I'd be sad if there wasn't a reception to virtually go to! Deep breathes. XO

    1. Matty - You can breathe easily now. The reception is back in full swing. I just had a momentary lapse. I perform much better when I just do things instead of thinking about them. Seeing all the wedding guests got me excited all over again.

    1. Roville - Me, too. Stopping to entertain company and my dog dying really threw me off a bit. It really helps seeing all the family and the guests ready to party. It's helping to get my spirits up again.

    1. Loretta - Thanks. There's still a lot to do. If I could only snap my fingers, close my eyes, and have it all done.

    1. Georgia Girl - Unfortunately, I won't be attending the show tomorrow. My doll budget was wiped out at the last doll show 2 weeks ago, and I didn't replenish it. I will have to wait until November.

  7. Oh, goody! Joe and the girls are excited about the FOOD. They've all had a slice of Van's Doll Pizza, and they anticipate a feast beyond compare.

Unfortunately, the Right Reverend Hadley has discovered that his youngest child, Felicity has gone to Morristown.

    1. D7ana - Oh no. Are they looking for Felicity, or are they hoping she will miraculously show up at the hotel?

  8. LOL, I"m not sure whether to apologise or be glad I averted a disaster for the whole doll world. I think I'll just be glad the reception is still going ahead. Save me a seat. (Sorry to hear about your dog - you have lost part of your family and that takes time to adjust to.)

    1. Carrickters - You can be happy. The rest of us are. Had it not been for the message, I would still be looking at an empty reception room. Now I feel like I don't have far to go, but in reality I do.

  14. I saw some chairs at a flea market and thought about this post. I picked them up knowing I will need more chairs. I am waiting to see the reception all set up.

    1. Ms. Leo - Smart move. You can never have too many chairs. You won't have to wait long. I finished setting it all up today. Tomorrow I shoot. Should be posted by Sunday.
