The Video That Started It All Just Went Over 100,000 views!!!

November 2009 I posted a little video called "Barbie and Her Baby".  I don't really know why, but it was my first video featuring a fashion doll. I was experimenting because I had no experience to speak of with making videos.  It was the interest in this video that sparked me to continue making them.  When it hit 10,000 views, I was totally elated and couldn't believe that people were watching my video.  Needless to say, I am over the moon with over 100,000 views.  It has received 56 comments, 38 likes and 7 dislikes.  I'll take those numbers.  There has been a few people that didn't like that I was calling this AA doll Barbie.  They were young people, too.  I tried to explain that I was using Barbie as the trademarked name, not as the actual name.  I then had to point out that nowadays Mattel is referring to all of their playline dolls as Barbie.

So let's just reminisce, shall we?

  1. Congratulations, Vanessa. Those are awesome numbers: 100,000 views, 56 comments, 38 likes and only 7 dislikes.

Do you know the stats of your other YouTube Videos?

  2. DBG - Yes all the stats are visible to everyone. The second fashion doll video I did is at about 50,000. It was about 10,000 less than the Barbie and Baby, but about 6 months ago the Barbie and Baby left it in the dust. The second video was another experiment. It doesn't have sound, and the verbage is hard to read. But it's cute.

  4. Thanks Loretta. I just wish I could remember why I made that first one. I must be getting old. Better than the alternative, as they say.

  8. Congrats!!! Are you talk about the videos on youtube? You did at least one on smilebox that was as cut as a button! You should upload that one too if you have not. I didn't see this one so it was good to see it now. I can your style of music is still the same. It is how I think of you. Jazzy, soulful! I haven't see the baby in that complexion before good to see that too. Love the way the light softly comes through the window too!

  9. Ms. Leo - Thanks. Yes, this was my first YouTube video with fashion dolls. This doll and baby are sleighted to show up in current videos again. They did make an appearance in the Christmas video with Santa. I shot this whole video in a light box. That was new for me too. I did two videos in Smilebox with The Lees. I had considered loading it, but that was before I painted Chang's gloves. So it looks a little strange now. I may share it on the blog one day.
