Guess What I Bought Today... and shipping was only $1!

So my doll budget reset today. So I found myself at Barbie Collector.com. I hadn't been there in probably a year or more. What prompted me to go there? A blogger left a reply comment and all she said was "I looked at the AA Barbie Basic 2.0 at BC.com".  I don't know why I felt compelled to go there. I've seen that doll in person numerous times.  Needless to say, I found a couple dolls to buy. Icing on the cake is that they are having $1 shipping until 3/8/11. No minimums and no limits on the shipping.  The good thing is, I didn't buy anything that wasn't already on my list.

This is LT Uhura from Star Trek Collection. All the Star Trek dolls are on sale for $12.00.  I already have her new body ready.

Today I was set to buy a nude Halle doll from ebay for $28.50+4.00shipping.  Well brand new she is only $34.95. So I bought her too.

This doll set isn't available anymore, but this was my first time seeing it, and I thought I would share it with you.

  2. Super congrats, Vanessa! I'd get the Halle doll and pop her onto a new body. (Usually, I am NOT big on the Model Muse bodies.)

Oh and the AA David Bridal and the matching children ... sigh. Hope prices are still low when I go for them!

  3. D7ana That David Bridal set came out in 2005. I never saw it, but then again I was taking a break from Barbies at that time. I wish it were still available because I would have liked to have that in my collection.

  4. Oh wow, a $1 shipping?! That's a great deal. Shipping costs are so out of control, some times it keeps me from buying a doll/item.

I can't wait to see what you decide for Uhura and Halle, family wise. Halle is the perfect match for an Artsy body too.

I love your posts! It's exciting to see your doll collection grow and how you write them into a story line. :)

Congrats on your new girls! :)

  5. I love the DB's kid sets. I have 2 of the AA and the Hispanic kids. Never picked up the bride though. Love the sales @ BC.com they help me stay on budget too :O)

  6. @Tracy I love taking advantage of shipping specials! It makes the deal that much sweeter.

I am considering starting a group of single ladies with a different storyline. I think these two, and some of the S.I.S. ladies will be the start. Occassionlly they may meet up with some of the others. Don't know where I will find time to do both storylines. LOL!

  7. @Dollz4Moi Hispanic kids, too? Awww, man. I can't believe I missed out on these sets!

  8. There are 3 versions of those kids: caucasian, AA and hispanic.

I think the hispanic version is the most interesting, because Tommy looks unusual there: he has brown hair and brown eyes, but the light skin. As for the adult doll I didn't even know about her, because I often look at doll kids only. :D

  9. @Dukasha Thanks so much for those links! I like all three of them. I like that the AA pair is darker skin. That is the first time I've seen Mattel do the kids in that shade. Even the blonde dolls look a little different. It must be the nice haircut and hairdo. I did see the AA set on ebay for $34.99. They would make cute kids for my Top Model Nikki, but I'm not sure that she will be having any kids.

  10. Vanessa, what body will you use for Lt Uhuru? Based on one of your earlier blogs I bought a few Liv dolls and used their bods for some heads I was having color match probs with. I had not seen anyone use a Liv body before your blog. I love the Liv clothes so that's a bonus.

  11. @Kristi I am glad you tried the Liv bodys. They do have nice clothes. Much nicer than the current Mattel clothes. I will have to wait til Lt Uhura arrives. I have several different bodies from articulated dolls I picked up at doll sales and thrift stores. I also have an extra Artsy body. So we'll see what works best.

  12. @Kristi ...previous post should read "bodies" not "bodys". Sometimes my hands don't pay attention to my brain.

  13. I have Uhura and she's a perfect match for S.I.S. Grace. Some folks have also used PoP Life Christie's body. I'm sure you got it covered though. :)

  14. @Tracy - Thanks for the info. I love S.I.S. Grace. Hard to tell since my S.I.S. dolls haven't made my stories yet. I do credit you and your blog for turning me on to Grace and Chaundra. When I first saw Grace on your site, I was like "Who is that?" I had passed that doll up so many times when she was readily available.
